At What Point Are You A Millionaire?
« on: July 05, 2007, 05:52 PM »

Well,i really want to know at what point you can say 'am a millionaire'.is it when your net worth is above a million or when u earn above a million in a year.because if u earn about a million a year it doesnt necessarily make u a millionaire.or is it your bank balance that determines it.

I don't think you can call yourself a millionaire for having just N1m of assets, so if next month you sell N20 naira assets you fall back to thousandnaire  Huh . People who call themselves millionaire have multiples of million.

Forget millionaire, the way people talk about million these days I remember when the common slang was men I made 20 Gees, 10 Gees these days it's I made 2 EM, 5 EM, Shocked million no get value.

I think the right question now is "at what point are you a Billionaire" Grin

N1, 000, 000 is less than $10, 000.
And even if you have N3, 000, 000, that would be less than $30, 000. And to me, anyone with less than $1, 000, 000, is not a millionaire.

A fellow American blogger makes $5, 000 daily from adverts on his political blog. And that is my target as a professional blogger. And that means I want to make $150, 000 monthly from blogging alone. And to make over $1, 000, 000 in a year, then I can claim to be a millionaire.

Let us use the global standard to measure our worth.

Aim to be a millionaire in US Dollars or British Pounds and not in Naira.

I totally agree with Orikinla. In my own view, you're not a millionaire until you can measure it in dollars, net worth mind you.

you are millionnaire when your standard of living is not compromised no matter where you are in the worrld. The way you live in Nigeria, is the same way you live in any country you visit in the whole wide world. Whether you are in New york, london, hong kong you do not lower your standard.

The country where you live matters a great deal. In Naija, if your net assets is more than N1m, you are indeed a millionaire. In yth US the net assets benchmark would then be $1m and so on.

It when you think less of your self than others and how you impacted words of wisdom and knowledge to the little ones and the people around you, that what make you a millionaire.

Even if a million naira 'no get value' as you put it, i think we should stick to the dictionary definition and stop thinking in such a shallow manner. When Nigerians realize that it doesn't devalue YOU/THEM is many other people are at your level, we'll move forward.

IF PRESIDENT YARADUA HAD NOT STOPPED REDENOMINATION/REDECIMALIZATION AS PROPOSED BY SOLUDO .MANY PRESENT NIGERIAN MILLIONAIRES WOULD HAVE BECOME FORMER MILLIONAIRES.
I BELIEVE THE EGO LIKES TO BE MASSAGED.SOLUDOS PLAN WOULD REDUCED NIGERIANS "I GET MONEY EGO" AS MUCH AS IT WOULD HAVE REDUCED THE QUANTUM OF NAIRA WE WOULD CARRY ABOUT.
YOU ARE A NIGERIAN MILLIONAIRE WHEN YOUR NET WORTH ,LESS WHAT YOU WILL SPEND IN A MEDIUM RUN ,IS MORE THAN 1 MILLION NAIRA. A NIGERIAN MILLIOAIRE WHOSE NET WORTH IS LESS THAN N130MILLION NAIRA IS NOT A DOLLAR DENOMINATED MILLIONARE.
MANY NIGERIANS WILL BE MILLIONAIRES IN ZIMBABWEAN DOLLARS!

2 loafs of bogan costs a million in Zimbabwe.
You've got to be a 'millionaire' to breathe over there!

International business is done in $, so I guess you're a millionaire if you've got assets worth a million $.
Having said that, we'll break a mill $ assets to coins in the UK  Grin
