Old Time Indian Movies (the Promise)
« on: February 08, 2006, 01:46 AM »

Ok, does anyone remember 'The Promise'? The Indian movie with Sunita and Vikram? The plot of the movie revolved around their romance, and how his mom disliked her? Then they (Sunita and Vikram) got into a car accident which caused her to undergo plastic surgery? Anyway, I remember being in love with that movie way back in the day... I actually just bought it last week. I ordered it from some store online that sells all kinds of Indian movies... it came in the mail last night... It was awesome... The guy sent me this long list of movies that he has available at his store... the next one I ordered was Gazaab... Anyway, I'll stop now... I'm just feeling incredibly nostalgic right now...

The part that got me crying was when they reunited in front of that goddess with thier pet symbol (ten-tennish). That sent goose pimples all over me. I love that movie.

Wow. I have to agree with you guys. It's great. Let's admit that the Indians are awesome storytellers. Besides Gazaab, I also have 'Amar Akubar, Anthony on back order, and I'm trying to get burning train... The guy is trying to convince me to get the new ones, but I'll get all the old ones first. He restores them and puts them on DVD, so the quality is great. Plus it's not that expensive either. It costs $6.95 for each one... not bad at all.  Hey, has anyone seen #10:  'Desi numberi'? (I know, terrible misspelling) I might be getting that one next... I know they're not popular anymore... it'd just be great to have them in my collection, you know? Watch them anytime I want... lol.. movies of my childhood... Let's wait and see sha...

@monie0078,

When you mentioned that film "the promise" or "yah varda raha", memories just kept flooding back. It's one movie that can bring that type of feeling to me, the other is an American called "Diamond Mercenaries" very old film indeed, but the plots are etched in my memory.

na na. The saddest song ever is from Chatal Chtal Katai, I think that's the title

It's the movie where the dude owns an elephant from his childhood and his horrid wife makes him believe the elephant wants to kill their baby. The elephant gets shot in the end while trying to save their damn baby. There's a song that plays with the scene that sincerely makes me teary eyed.

Your mom is not alone ooh, my mom calls girls she thinks are devious Najin/Nagin. . . "Omo Nagin yen, o ma je ko koba eh!"
