Well, there is a lot of question ask. But i have to summarize them all in one sentence. It all takes time. Although we are behind we shall one day be among the top. "I no dey go home" "i no dey go home" tho! am i forcing you to go home? Believe me or not. Look at where we were 10 years a ego both politically and economically, there has been at least some changes. And as for my parent they love naija but they don't love the way things are going. no body loves trust me. But they all see brighter futre for the green white and green.
You guys are blaming the system. The same system you help destroy. Well, i quess this discussion should be over as soon as i am concern b/c there is a lot of reply just on personal opinion not reality. No matter what you think of naija, it will grow, believe it or not and it is growing. Don't worry. Just remember my name. Amobi. You will here about me one day. there should be an Global competition when it comes to industralizing a nation. Not just local.  And as far as free trade exit. Amobi dream will come true. i believe in my people. America is better but naija is the best for me. where i will live and die. When i went home the last time i saw a lot young talent waistin. I try to blame the government, But remember that am part of the Gorvt. If i or you blame the govt you blame yourself. And why should you be blaming yourself since you know the problem. why can't you let your voice to be heard.  You guys can stay here forever. But as for me Naija is a place to be!!!!!!!And one day i shall make my move. Not market competition among brother but the world. when my people see visions and opportunity they will never perish. They will support me b/c now they know they have to work for money instead of Aids. The world knows how to help Africa if they wants to, but  no. They all want to use us to balance their budgets. You don't see the way you guys sounds? Visionless,  i know you want the best for your kids but  if you praise a man for the ones he has done, then he can do more. And if you guys can't see atleast some progress in anything our gorvts are doing. trust me you won't see it when they're doing millions. As i said i don't like the ways things are going but i will come out with ideas that will benefit my people. And plz if you are not ready for an intellectual discussion don't reply. i know some of you guys need my green card. but we are talking about serious issue here. And remember  "ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is everybody aware of the unprovoked riots happening in Nigeria now?

Is that the Nigeria you want people to return to, where a person's life is worth nothing at all?

Irrespective of what's happening in Nigeria, it's still home.  The only thing we nigerians living abroad can do is to keep praying for the nation.

I've been in the UK for 18 years but go to Nigeria once a yaer for christmas.  It still needs a lot of building up and repairs.  I'm typing on my laptop at the moment without any fear of NEPA taking the light.  Maybe if solutions are provided for our problems and they are strictly adhered to, Nigeria will become a better place.

For instance, NEPA should be given to private companies.  At one time I was using British Gas and electricity, later on I decided it was too expensive and I moved to NPower.  The result is that whichever way I go, as long as I pay, I must have light.

And to everyone in abroad, work hard and save money, have one thing in mind that if these people9Americans, British, etc) decides to send back all foreigners even if you have green, red, yellow or whatever passports, be prepared to go back HOME and establish yourself.  Trust me it can happen, you can say foreigners bring a lot of income in, but at the same time, whatever little money they have in their country is enough for them.

KEEP LOVING YOUR COUNTRY, IT WILL GET BETTER, ENGLAND, AMERICA USED TO BE BAD ONCE, ALL WE NEED IS PRAYER!!

It's hard to rationalise with a fanatic.  You clearly are fanatical about Nigeria.

It's like having a child that brings nothing but grief to the family, but then your response is always:  Well, he's my son, I can't do anything about it.

Yes, you can do something.  You can disown him, you can turn him over to the authorities when he commits crimes, etc, until he shapes up.

Of course the solutions would make Nigeria a better place.  But how long is too long to wait?

Very good point.  When an entity has monopoly, there is zero incentive for innovation.  In other words, competition begets better service.

No, it can't happen if you're a citizen.

The only way you could lose your citizenship is if you commit acts of treason against the nation.

The western nations are not irrational in their thinking to the point that established law-abiding people would suddenly be deported.

Oasis,
I understand if you don't want to go back to naija, but you sound like a village guy being introduce to the civil world. Monopoly? Every state in America has an individual  gas and electric company own by one company;it is call state monopoly.  A lot of people in nigeria doesn't  pay for electricity do u know that. is hard to rationalize with a fanatic but you can. And the person above was talking about green card not citizenship. And since you have your papers now why can't you forget about naija totally. Money, money, money money!!! the same naija problem. If you can't wait then move on with your life. You own a date web site now you think you can re-establish a national registry? If the country is as insecure as it is, having a social or national data base will do more harm. Since you think nigeria is mess up, what do you have to offer to her?  Disaster is disaster whether it is natural or not. A white man land is far better eh? i wonder why they don't have any respect for you guys. infact go and do some research man. Atleast naija wasn't build by slaves or unpaid labors. It takes time. we are adapting to somebody's else culture. Thats democracy, i love it but it will take more time. Infact let me just leave you alone because you sound timid. Yeah i guess since US is better every body should abandon their country to come over here. And plz visit Dubai one day, united emirate,

@Amobi

The discussion has lost focus.

It's now disintegrated into a shouting match between somebody who looks at things realistically, and one who is unwilling to listen to reason, no matter what that reason may be.

A lot of what you said up there is simply rambling.  I can't pick out anything of substance.  For example, why do I need to know that some Nigerians don't pay for electricity?  Why do I need to visit uae?  How do you know I haven't visited, or even speak the language?  What's the point about my website?

If you have no point to make, just don't say anything.  It's better to be thought of as a fool, than to open your mouth and take away any doubt.

Quote
having a social or national data base will do more harm.

How?  Please elucidate.

Here is the bottomline,

If you want to manage anything well, you must have a good inventory of it.  To manage a population, you must have a record of who the people are.  Therefore, a national database is a must.  It doesn't cost much to write the application, and would cost even less to manage, making any argument against it ill-conceived.

Quote

Don't worry about white man, worry about your own people in Nigeria who hate you so much, they want to kill you, burn your property, and reduce your place of worship to rubble.

Quote
And since you have your papers now why can't you forget about naija totally.

That is hardly the topic of discussion.  Try to stay on course here.  You seem like a scatterbrain sensasionalist, who lacks the ability to concentrate.  Reasoning doesn't exist in your world.  It's either your way, or the highway.  I'm doing my part for the country of Nigeria, and that is all you need to know.   Not even all the king's horses would make me return to Nigerai at this time.

Let's hear your next incoherent filibuster.

@Amobi

You need to punctuate and do a spell check after every post. My Brother you are simply not making any sense @ all. You need to proof read your post and hear how it sounds. There is no structure and your points are misplaced. If you want to talk about NEPA, finish with that and make your point, before attacking his website without any link to NEPA.

Honest Advice. Kokscity!

Yeah, Oasis,
It doesn't disturb me to see the stupid ones in doubt why the wise ones in conclusion. Now you"re complaining about me running away from the  subject? why you"re the one that started being off track. And kokcity, i see where you are coming from. i was in a horry.   Well, Oasis i did have a nice discussion with you anyways. maybe is time for a new  topic. this topic is over.  And point of correction;  i was talking about  people not paying there electric bill leading to  improper fuctionality of nepa. And building a date website is totally different from building a national data base.that's what i was illustrating.  you guys don't agree with anything i said at all, even it is right. well, we are caugth up in a blind argument.

 Angry

I must say that it is great for anyone or everybody to go home. I perosonally have had really bad experiences going home. My aunt went for her wedding and got robbed beaten and her new husband shot. My uncle got killed at a bus stop and finally, my friends fiance was shot at beaten and all his things he brought for his family gone. IF THIS IS THE NIGERIA I KNOW, it will be very difficult convincing me to go home. All this happened this year, until there is progress, i don't feel safe.

I'm so sorry about these experiences.  Perhaps they flaunted too much wealth in a poor locality in Lagos and this attracted robbers.  So many deaths in one family?  Terrible and rare.

If they were walking funny because they were "bouncing", that would be different.

But if you are making fun of them because thay have a disability, then that is very low.

The least you can do is just walk away. If you can't add value to their lives, then don't do anything.

@ adidison abeg find cold water drink small. Probably there is no light so cold water no dey but still find something cold sha!
Personally i think Nigeria just needs God's intervention "period" No matter how many churches or businesses even laws that are made in Nigeria could be established to the fullest. The simple truth is that "short cuts" are always found.
No doubt about the displacement even the reaction u get when u say you're a Nigerian (Scam Specialists). In future one would still need to return home @ some point in time.
But if your country doesnt value your life u need to take care of it because its "urs".
So,  the choice is urs!!!
