Hello all
Presently i am having a problem with my relationship my guy and myself having going out for sometime now without any problem between us. but the problem am having now has to do with his family. This is what happened, my boy friend's younger brother was doing his M.B.A in O.O.U some years back am suddenly the guy got missing up till today no body knows his where about, because of this the parent has vowed that they will never ever have anything to do with anybody from ogun state which happen to be my state Abeokuta to be precise. my man has explained to thrm on several occations that am not from Ijebu but from Abeokuta but they wont want to listen all they don't want is anybody from Ogun state .
Although we are both in love and we hope to get married very soon but to me this cannot happen without their consent although he keeps assuring me ,that they are still going to come down but when that is going to be is what am not sure of and we are both ripe for marriage. although i have never met them one on one before i mean the parent because i don't want to be embarrased by them i don't know what they will say when we meet that is why. your contribution will be very much appreciated.

you have a problem here beats me why would they lump all ogun state indigenes together and not want to have anything to do with them? irrespective of what happened to their son in this present day Nigeria? so marriage is based on states of origin now? you stated that you have not met or had anything to do with them ? and yet you want to marry their son/daughter? you better hop to it! if you're really serious about marrying this girl /boy, meet her /his parents and family interact with them, let them see who you are i kind of understand where her/his parents are coming from but then, people should be taken on individual basis and not based on state of origin, nationality or tribe erhmmmmmmm sarifat are you male or female?

Your gender reflects male oh.
You have to be prayerful i tell you. If your man is sincerely in love with you, he will stand by you and try to win his parents over to your side.

You would be surprised how many people think on a basis of state as well. If you love him, just get married. Like ikamefa said, people should be taken on an individual basis. His parents will come around, they can't hold this grudge forever based on just one incident.

you still want to go ahead with the marriage at this situation, well you must be brave. i know you are not getting married to his parents but him, but who in naija gets married and don't marry the whole family instead. girl, run while you can there are loads of men around, i know this feeling call love. that love can kill too. do you ever think this guy will side with you always whatsoever the future brings. the near escape from that is if you guys won't be living in naija when you get married, but trust me this can extend to your kids too. so think very hard about it. am have never been in ia situation like this, but am just giving you the advise my mum gave me. if they don't like you now they will never do. you deserve more ok.
goog luck though in any decision you take.
