Ipod Get Stuck All The Time

This happens to my friends ipod but it wasnt no big deal not until i connected my sony mpeg4 player and has since then been stiffing not until its being restarted and even get stucked again before booting up.i guess its the firmware like we know thats it windows but it might not.anyone wit a solution or a bin(firmware)file higher/present please help
