Management is an Art as well as a Science as there a several school of thoughts. You could carry out a search on Google at al. and later compile them to do your write up. If you can't and still need my help for the write-up, I'm or mail me at reel_ife@yahoo.com, so we could talk better.

Different management practices imply some art or some science.
Some managers have been successful using tools of fear to great effect. The most obvious example are the old communist societies of the Soviet Union and China.
Other managers are very liberal and possess a bit of charisma. The religious institutions come to mind.
Yet other managers are devoid of charisma but are great an thorough administrators. They are very adept at taking care of the nuts and bolts.

Management is an art and also a science.
It is a science because there are laid down rules and process.
It is also an art in the area of decision taking

It depends on the approach, I should say both.
If it is run by an Arts Faculty, they tend towards Art (MA); while a Science faculty will award a Science degree (M.Sc) The faculty plays a pivotal role.

Management is a science as well as an Art. Many Social Scientists like Fredrick Taylor, Henry Frayor, Abraham Maslow, Mc Clelland etc, etc have written on this topic according to their various schools of Thought. So check good Management text books and surf the net; after a thorough research, you will get enough facts with which to claim the whole marks from your Lecturer.
Good luck!

On both counts, you have just made the case that it is a science.

Well you can't learn art by rote. It is a creative enterprise, individualistic, something that comes from somewhere within you, usually symbolised by that EUREKA moment.
