Some people here on this thread have written well thought out contributions ,other are just jokers or hating.
I agree with MP007,Nigerian women are very money conscious but I do not blame them too much.They have grown up in a country where they are made to believe they can't achieve as much as a man so they feel they need to depend on men.
If a woman in the UK loves the good life she works for the money and believes she will make it.
As for Igbos and the love of money, there is a lot of history to it.
One very important factor as pointed out by Londoner earlier was the effect of the civil war.
The other was the effect of over population which caused Igbos even before the existence of Nigeria to move out and work and trade in other areas because land for farming was was a major problem in Igboland .The tradition of trading and struggling to make it away from home is long standing.
I don't know how many people here are aware that a large no of Igbos were sold off as slaves through the port of Calabar mainly as a result of this population and land problem
