If you want the truth join a Black organisation, these are very interesting as they discuss issues that have affected our people. The truth of how we have been lied too is also exposed. I'm sure you will find this very interesting.
There are many organisation you can attend for free, without people asking you for money.

doyin 13. i dont know wat church u attend or wat churches u hav attended but i know u need an interpreter of the truth.A real man of God, they r usually not to many of them, say one in a thousand.Plus u need the holy spirit that would turn SCRIPTURES to CLEAR PICTURES.I am lucky to know a messanger of the truth,if u hear GOD'S WORD THRU HIM ,U WOD KNOW THAT God's word "TURNS ONE ON"."THE ENTRANCE OF HIS WORD GIVES LIGHT".Watch wat u say friend cos "WAT U SAY IS WAT U SEE",your "WORD CREATES your WORLD",by "WORDS ,GOD CREATED THE WORLD",and "YE R gods".Most importantly "JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD".This is the foundation and if "your FOUNDATION IS FAULTY NO MATTER HOW HOLY U R ,U R HELPLESS".U need the holy spirit cos when "the holy spirit is com he shall teach u all truth".Note that The bible is the most important book in this life, and since the church is the place where the bible is often read, that makes it the most important place. While other books informs God's word(the bible transforms)
note:the words in qoute r words of God

@Soundmind and All,
All or most of those things may be happening in church, but none of them can fill the heart of a spiritually thirsty person. Until the Church rediscovers her spiritual identity, we can go on adding more ideas, activities and programmes to keep the status quo of 'lively church(es)' and still come away with the same spiritual dryness.
Let no one suppose that the poster/originator of the thread deliberately loses interest in Church - at least he was speaking the mind of most of us in as simply and honestly can be. Pastors need to be rediscovering themselves and their God-ordained calling before they can hope to lead people to the presence of the living God.
What do we have in most of our churches today? If it's not marriage and romance seminar, it's the latest revelation on how God 'spoke' to someone on how to raise some funds for a 'vision' (please read 'project' - church building, pastors' promotion, etc). We need to start asking more germane questions:
What is Church?
What is spirituality?
What is worship?
If people substitute their ideas for the Biblical understanding of issues like that, then anything will be the order of the day. Late last year, a friend came home unusually earlier from their normally 3 to 4 hours church service. Surprised, I asked her what the matter was. Believe it or not, her response was that they couldn't hold 'service' that Sunday because the musical instruments were locked up in one of the houses of the music leaders - and he was not back from his travel before that sunday! This is not making up stories - it is an example of some of the silly things we've built our ideas on!
Of course, there are other silly reasons that make shock some of us. But when was the last time or how long ago did anyone hear a soul-searching teaching in Church on the Cross, repentance from hypocrisies (especially of those in high positions who are involved in holy 419), etc.?
Fact is, Church in many quarters is boring - and until we go down on our knees and seek the face of God, it will be futile trying to make up for the spiritual paucity with mere activities and programmes. Nothing can be substituted for the REALITY of presence of the living GOD!
word!! @ poster, perhaps you are tired of the 'how to get rich quickly' and 'how to find a good spouse' sermon, plus testimonies upon testimonies of how their lives were transformed, never how they transformed the lives of others!! try going to a church where the pastor is really called to lead. just one service, and you would understand that standing on the pulpit is a calling and not a profession.

In the presence of God there is fulness of joy not fulness of boredom, maybe your it is your mere body that is in church not your heart.Anything u dont hav control over is a bondage.u NEED FREEDOM AT THIS TIME,"AND U SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH AND IT SHALL MAKE U FREE,AND WHOSOEVER THE SON OF MAN MAKES FREE,HE SHALL BE FREE IN DID.ANYONE IN BONDAGE IS BEING CONTROLLED BY DEMONICSPIRITS,AND IN THE WORLD OF THE SPIRITS,SPIRITS WRESTLE SPIRITS AND THE STRONGER SPIRITS SUBDUES.JUST LIKE THE DEMONS IS THE SPIRIT OF THE DEVIL,THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE SPIRIT OF GOD IT WILL ALWAYS SUBDUE.SO I'D LIKE U TO OPEN UP SO THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT WOULD BRIGHTEN YOUR HEART JUST LIKE THE SUN BRIGHTENS THE EARTH.HE WILL teach u all truth,he is the comforte.JESUS WAS WITH US BUT HE HAD TO GO SO THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT WOULD BE ABLE TO STAY IN US

Love my church. Good music for worship, great preaching, wonderful ,loving congregation. Anyone that finds church boring may be in a dead Church. Try a living one not only that, the guy may be dead in spirit. ususally when one has issues like this it is wise that he checks humself first before criticising the churc. and what is church? it is not the building, rather it is the people therein. so let our man start a revival and even the church would not be the same again. his name would also be written in the hall of fame when they tell the history of that particular church

I had the same problem as you, Doyin13 and I know most people do but are too afraid to admit that. the problem is this, most people go to church for the wrong reasons. take a statistic of those who go to church. you will find out that most of them do so either because they need a miracle or they dont want to go to hell. I think if you go to church genuinely for the love of GOD, you will find it fulfilling. But otherwise, just try to do the right things and feel at peace with GOD. You mustnt go to Church to show you love GOD

@ poster
it depends on wat u mean by boring.
alot of youths go to church cos of entertainment. but it should be a place of worship not a disco house.
am sure the reason it is boring to u is that the activities are more suited to your spirit dan your body so since there is nothing agitating your body, u wud definitely be bored.
i think the church will always be boring cos u r worshiping in spirit so the body becomes idle and thereby becomes bored.
i remembr a 7th day adventist churcch i attended in my school. they dont clap and dance and all dat. so people were not enjoying it cos it was "boring" but i didnt see it that way cos i wasnt there to dance and clap but to worship(although some of the pastors were downright BORING)
so did i make sense. I guess BORING is a relative term.

i would have loved it if doyin said some church activities are very boring and lifeless, that would have been a lot better.there are churches nowadays that are practically empty in everything,i would say that you have made a good decision by not going there, look out for churches backed up with signs and wonders ,a church whereby you can make the miracle happen for yourself, not allowing some jerry-curled pastor to lay hands on you, thereby putting you in some more inexplicable and mysterious bondage, there are a couple of them in nigeria now, well if you are really looking for a church which every service you miss would mean a lot ,you can find churches where practical christainity is being practised, not grammatical or theoretical christainity, try MFM or REDEEMED and your life will never remain the same again.

Finding church boring?
Well, here's what I have to say, If you're finding the music or something else of that sort, then you're really bored! All you are doing is covering the truth up with a experience and a feeling you get from it.
To be interested is this: If the pastor stepped on stage and sang one song until the service is over, you enjoyed it. Those who experience this are those who are: 1. Involved at church. 2. Convicted by the message 3. Are real members - by this I mean people who have the church vision impressed on thier hearts & run with it.
check that and you'll be sorted; and if you can't sort yourself out with this at the church you're at, then you probably need to move on - ask the Lord to show you the way.

Anything can be boring when you do not have the right motive and mindset towards it.
Havent you seen some people looking sad, forlon and desolate in the midst of a party when every other person is having serious fun?
Most of our problems are from within us

Doyin, it is an individual thing. u did not mention where you worship. and u did not tell us if you have ever tried some other churches, if you have and still find them boring as usual, then my suggestion is that you make up your mind for the hell fire which u are afraid of but my prayers to u is that u change your attitude towards church and looking at church as a place to be. i worship in a church here in dubai and it is called royal mission international and we spend barely 5 hours during firdays worships and i bet you there are several activities that no dull moments are recorded. we dance like we really feel like dancing. we always wait on fridays to come and see that day as a get together day and we have happiness intact on these worship days. on the other hand, it could be a function of the devil to discourage you from church activities and thereby creat an express way for you to go to , so search your spiritual being.

I have stayed out of the thread basically to get a feeler for how people will react.
And by and large I have not been disappointed.
I have done some soul searching over the issue of why I find church services boring, and I have come to the conclusion that yes, I am disturbed by a demon, a demon that keeps implanting this seeds of doubt in my mind if not over the veracity of the word of God but the unanswered questions that many religious institutions avoid.
I have a very inquisitive mind, and I simply cannot just Believe based on a fad or general practice.
The substantial basis that can sustain a relationship with God, I admit now I do not have.
Perhaps, it is because I am searching for such a foundation, and I feel that Christian organised religion avoids those questions that I find Churches an arduous experience.

We should go to church not to be entertained but to be closer to God, to mingle with others that feel the same need. To be there for others to encourage them and to be encouraged.
The other thoughts that come to mind when I read this topic were if God is embedded in our heart as he should be, then we should feel joy to be able to go to a place of worship that allows us to speak his name openly and without worry of ridicule.
Too often in this world we are working, mingling with people that do not hold the same beleifs that we do about things and him, and at times, although we may try not to allow this to happen thier ways tend to rub off upon us, especially if we do not touch base so to speak.
We should always go to church for our own souls.

i dont think there's anything wrong with the way you feel. If you're bored, you're bored, no need to pretend or deny it. I remember discussing this same issue with someone awhile ago. You're probably bored because the sermons/services arent intellectually stimulating enough. Not everyone is able to sit down and listen to the same thing week after week, and not mind. Especially if you're the intellectual type, with a hungry mind. Sermons are often directed at the emotions, rather than the intellect. I dont know if the church services will ever stop being boring most times, but as some suggested, you could probably get involved in some other departments. You can also do some searching by yourself- check out religious sites and stuff. Read up on the history of the church- its very interesting: all those caesars, divisions, colonies ( the Americas), and all. basically ,the ball is in your court. Your attitude is what will determine the outcome of your observation.
