For the fact that you don't understand what I meant by "Mass" does not mean that a word like "Mass" does not exist. The potestants uses services while Catholics uses the word "Mass". That is why catholics are different from the protestants. Mass is a Sacrifice because we (catholics) believe in the sacrifce of Christ in unbloody manner. But the protestants call it service because they only gather pray, clap hands and dance. So, don't bring English in something you don't understand. Better ask for explanation. Again, in Mass Christ real body and blood are received and not symbol as protestants believe |

Being a catholic and knowing what is obtainable in the church, I don't find the church service boring in anyway.
When you concentrate on the mass going on, Believe me, all the aspect of the mass is so interesting that you can't afford to miss anyone.
Each one seems to have its blessings and protection from God.

church services boring abi? when u were in school, im sure your lectures were boring too. every fora where u need to learn actively and change from your old ways, it will always be a boring session. im sure you didnt pass in school cos na sleep you dey sleep for class. how will church services not be boring. or better still, come to my church cos whenever we are about closing for the sunday, we are always downcast. buzz of joo

Perhaps, it is because I am searching for such a foundation, and I feel that Christian organised religion avoids those questions that I find Churches an arduous experience. Christianity does not "avoid" the questions you feel lead to your inference that Churches are an arduous experience. You may not find a few churches (or church meetings, worship, etc) appealing to you. Have you taken the time to really seek answers from God concerning what you might be enquiring about? There are answers in His Word - you'd simply have to spend time understanding your need, and then taking that need(s) to God. |

Very very boring!!!! Like the contents of the Bible will change or something??? Same old same old Genesis to Revelation and some missing parts I believe. I feel you jare! Good thing I do not have to go if I do not want to since my parents can't force me to go there anymore.

Church Services boring??  , What an understatement, The whole thing is not just boring, but also annoying. You sit there and a pastor is trying to shove his own understanding of the bible down your troath and if you dare argue you are a sinner. And they must end with their favourite line "dig your hands into your pocket and give your widows mite, or "challange God with your offering", or "sow a seed faith". Back in the dayz when I was in 9ja, I will walk out during service and just sit in a corner with some boys and smoke the whole service away. The end point of every service is give us your money, repent or go to hell, Jesus is coming tomorrow, someone is plotting/sending evil forces against you and die by fire. And in the evening, they expect you to attend house fellowship. I dont go to church anymore except for christmas day just to hear the choir sing some hynms. I'd rather be sleeping on sunday morning. |

lol, its so weird to me, church, mass, sleeping, whatever,
and as usual people advocate you "getting into more activity" and other well worn cliches,
Maybe what a bored person needs to do is stop going to the meeting for a while!
Before you scream at me, read on.
What we call "church" (which are actually meeting) are boring becos its the same 'service' same routine, same jokes, same message, same pastor, the same old (pardon my french) rot!
Rot becuase it is "form" that does not satisfy the soul,
No matter how juicy, your service or mass is, if you don't get away from the crowd - denominational (or what people call church) crowd for a while to question what you believe, why you believe it, what you really want - God, interaction or gain - you will soon get tired cos man was not made for monotony.
What we call church is a far cry from what the Bible talks about. Think about it:
There is no reverend or pope in the bible
There is no ordination of pastors (cos its a gift)
There is no tithing in the new testament (they(the church) had all things in common
And besides there were a different types of tithes (see leviticus) including tithes where people ate their tithe!
(I bet your pastor never told you that)
Jesus and his disciples had no service, they met, played, walked together, same with the apostles, it was like a huge company of friend really unified by faith in Christ.
There is no "man of God" implying a special person based on church rank.
i can go on and on, but like I said, examine what you believe, get away from the crowd, dare to follow truth (if you really want truth) and even if its a lonely road, Perhaps your soul will find true soul food if you go back to that word, the bible

Church services can get boring if : # you're not participating in any activity. Being passive in itself makes one bored #basically, interaction. If you don't interact with your fellow, how wouldn't the service get boring? One becomes more or less a bench warmer if one doesn't talk with/interact with other member, doing siddon look #at times, sermons may not stimulate you intellectually, and for ya mind, na so so "dis pastor wan chop my moni for offering" you dey tink # 't could be personal. Like someone wisely said, search yourself. |

No ordination in the bible- read very well. all the instances where they pour oil on some prophets. what do you call that? No tithing- your bible is upside down Jesus and disciples had no 'service'- what is a service? All the teachings he did for long hours. im sure if you were alive then, you'll have called Jesus the most boring prophet . We should understand all these very well before we misinform one another. Me i want to learn oo but all these pass my comprehension. some are just absurd @Coolkaboom you said the whites would have worshipped obatala if we colonized them. But christianity isnt the first religion. im sure Islam the religion of peace came before Christianity. even in Nigeria, Islam has been in the north before the whites came with xtianity. My point is, even before Antioch when people were first called xtians, people were worshipping idols. even before Jesus came into being. Its not only 9ja we had or still have Obatala ad Sango, the truth and light will still prevail over any form of darkness. @babeelove Esss isnt better than me cos i dont go to church to fulfill all righteousness, but to realign myself with the reality that i need to be closer to God. Life is not more than 120. What about a billion years after. where will i spend it? NOT IN HELL. SO I WONT SMOKE IN CHURCH. It goes beyond that, thats why im seeking God everyday. My guy, im a sinner, so i need to use every available opprtunity to run from sin. |

What you need is total renewal of your mind. This you cannot achieve on your own. You need God's Holy Spirit to help you. Zachariah 4:6 "Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts." When you are led by the Spirit of God to know the Lord JESUS CHRIST as YOUR personal Lord and Saviour, going to church or the gathering of children of God would be like going to your father's house. Your action in posting this shows that the Lord has started a good work in you and He will complete it in JESUS name. Amen. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit abide with you now and forever. Amen.

As for me, I found going to church very boring a long time ago. The only comment That I'll make on this thread is that I find a great deal of intelligence in the person of PILGRIMS.1.she made a lot of great comments on this thread.
