The 148 is most probably the bank rate.  I have this formula that I use. If I want to know approximately what the parallel rate is all I usually do is find out (via internet) what the bank rate is then I would add any amount between 20 and 40 naira to the bank rate then I would look for a buyer and hear them out.  You can always sell at the rate at which you are confortable with. So far, my fomula has not failed me.

Prayer is not going to improve the Nigerian economy or the value of the naira. If that is what you are being told then you are being deceived. Less demand for foreign made goods and increasing the industrial output in Nigeria ( which probably is zero now) using locally available materials are some of the things that can help. Stop praying as prayer will not stop the naira from exchanging for N200 to $1

@crescent,
Just as you have             Nigezzie-Nigeria
                                        las Gidis-Lagos
                                        Bengazzi-Benin(edo)
@JJYou
if a $ is 179
and £1 is 1.49$

do the calculation, means £1 = 1.49 * 179=266.7~265 (most likely)
