We use the rate to determine the best price to buy goods that will be sold in Nigeria. High dollar rate is not good for business unless one does not need to buy back dollar.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) sold $180 million at 146.28 to the dollar at its twice-weekly foreign exchange auction on Wednesday compared to $202 million sold at 146.02 on Monday, traders said on Thursday.
The naira depreciated as end-users had to resort to the black market as the U.S. dollar supply by the regulator fell short of their demand of $465 million, traders said.
The naira also slipped further to 175 to the dollar on the black market from 170 on Monday. The central bank sold only about 45 percent of a total demand of $849 million at the two auctions this week, increasing pressure on the black market, dealers said.
Analysts attributed the decline in dollar supply to the consistent fall in the foreign exchange reserves of sub-Saharan Africa’s second largest economy.
Nigeria’s forex reserves stood at $48-49 billion, central bank’s governor Chukwuma Soludo said on Wednesday, compared to $51.07 billion on January 23.
The regulator has forbidden commercial banks from reselling dollars bought at its auctions or any other sources on the interbank market, in a step to tighten control on forex supply and help support the naira which has fell by over 20 percent against the dollar in recent months.
The measures have also made the black market the only alternative source for the greenback
