It is difficult to pick out one novel from the long list of the classics of African novels, but Buchi Emecheta's The Slave Girl lingers in my memories. Buchi Emecheta is the most accomplished female novelist from Nigeria. And if you think Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's prose is great, then you should read The Slave Girl..

Man of the People - Chinua Achebe
I love that book to bits. Achebe wrote that book in the early sixties, though I read it about 5 years ago, it seemed like he was talking about our present day politicians. If you read the novel, you'll wonder if our politicians ever learn.

Is "The Adventures of Souza" as popular as "Eze goes to school"? I have read 2 of them, and while Eze deals with the adversities of a young boy keen on attending school, the adventures of Souza was about the mischeviousness of a kid, growing up in Africa.

You need 2 check out this latest Nigerian sensation, Damian Hono. This kid cracked new grounds with his debut titled "EDEN'S DIAMOND" a friend recommended it and when I ordered on amazon, for some reason I genuinely began to feel proud that I was Nigerian. Anyone knows him or his contacts please don't hesitate to share.

I don't like it either It was quie a struggle to finish Couldn't relate with the family's plight and i found the attempt to reduce poverty to some sort of spiritual fantasy quite offensive
