Can somebody please let us know where they were arrested as i couldn't open the link, were they togather before the arrest or they were arrested saperately. Something must be wrong somewhere. As i can see from the picture they was no uniformity in their dressing. If wearing trousers is not accepted, what of tying wrapper. I suspect this must be a brothel redding.

I do blame the police many times for over-reacting except this time. I remember an America woman who wouldn't give her  Korean neighbor her knife to cut dog meat but volunteer to use her mouth instead. If these women were not ashawo what were  they doing in ashawo street?

paw paw,you don come again.
since when did the streets of Nigeria become ashawo and non-ashawo?

look at the woman with wrapper on her chest,which man will go to a shabbily dressed ashawo like that?
This was most likely someone's wife and a mother of little children who perhaps took what she deemed a quick trip to mama Iyabo's akara and ogi stand to purchase breakfast for the family but ended up being branded a prostitute.
That is so wrong.

Did anybody ever think that the wrapper could have been given to the the person wrapping herself?

If ashawo women don't wear those clothes in the picture, can someone tell me the uniform ashawo wears. (I never go ashawo since my secondary school days when I was forced by the senior prefect to escort him there).
Is it only mini skirt and what color of mini?

@babyosisi

there are ashewo streets O! In fact don't come to Adeyemo Alakija on V.I after 8pm if you don't want to go blind.

@karaye

confess, it was your popsie that expelled me from School. Mr Karaye. Anyway, let me tell you that nobody has the right to tell an adult how to dress on the street.

There are no NIPPLES and no female orifice and you people are screaming indecent exposure.

The people promoting this new craze are crazy.

and u guys don't have a clue  Tongue  Grin

question for you all; when did Fashola become Comm of Police for Lagos?

do u really think Fashola would be confuzzled at this saga?

hasnt Lagos been clamoring for its own Police force?

doesnt it just occur to u that the wrappers u saw would have been given to them by their relatives? because they were charged to court and that tells a sane mind they passed the night in the station, so definitely those werent the skimpies they wore that caused the controversy in the 1st instance!  Cheesy

Please what has Fashola got to do with Sharia? Tinubu was a Moslem, Fashola is a Christain so I fail to understand what Islam has to do with this.
Let us not bring stupid sentiments unverifiable for that matter into this.

no need to run away from the argument by abusing me.

Fashola is Muslim, disprove me with facts or appologise to Nairalanders for your error.

Raji is a Muslim Name, his fathers name Bello is borne by Muslims so tell us where you got your idea of Fashola being Christain from.

Like I said you need further verification.

Sorry my bad, He is a Moslem while his wife is a Christain. I am sorry i got emotional, it is just that i do not like it when people bring religion and tribe into issues that are not related to either. People have been suprising statements knowing fully well that Niggerians are very sensitive about religion.

Hope a lot of people will be bold enough to accept their mistakes when they make them rather than spending eternity trying to justify them or not even wanting to accept them in the first place.

@Afam

we will accept when we are wrong. It's a thing of dignity.

@all

please, let's start making moves on the impeachment and Removal of this Raji Fashola man. He should be used as an example to enlighten other governors that power has changed hands back to the people (the real government).

We really need to scapegoat one of these new governors so they know that it is not only after office that they can be punished!

If the exposure is the type that will force people to see naked women when they do not want to see them then Nigerians don't need that type of exposure.

The only place people have complete freedom to dress the way they like as it regards to nudity or near nudity is in their rooms or any other private place.

I have been walking the streets of Nigeria for 25 years, and i am yet to see a naked or near-naked woman anywhere.  It is not a problem for me, nor is it a problem for any Nigerian except Rev. Fashola.

The fear of being insulted is enough to keep ladies covered up.
Men spend most of their energy trying to see women naked anyway.

Abi ooo, at least you have more than enough congrats. Anything else?

Maybe some of you (based on where you live or work or relax) have not seen near naked women on the streets of Lagos, I have seen them and the sights are not decent ones.

Well, just as people celebrate 419 celebrating reckless showing of the breasts by some here is not surprising anyway.

God!!!!
im so outraged! Angry Angry Angry Angry
I can even tell the mothers among them!!!!
what is wrong with us? ?  ?
is 'indecent dressing' the decaying social infrsture we 'elelcted' Fashola to address?

if indeed those ladies are Prostitutes, what alternative is there for them in terms of jobs?HuhHuhHuh?
this is the worst that can happen in any society!
where are the human right lawyers?
where are the actvists?
it is not enough to fight just the government, sometimes helping in cases like this actually have direct effect on the lives of the citizens
i sincerly hope the eva vocal civil society will take this up aganist the police!!! Angry Angry Angry

and by the way, talking indecent about dressing how come the numerous touts and bus conductors who leave nothing to imagination
are not being arrested? Angry
how come the popular hangs out for our ladies of the night are still so busy ? ? ? ? Angry

my only consolation will be for the civil society to react as expected
but that is even a big doubt judging from how 'religious' our Nigerian society is Sad Sad

i feel real sad, it cld have been anyone of us! Sad
