what?

One can earn as much as $15 per hour changing diapers.
n gwa convert it to naira.
How much is it?
Then multiply it by 8 to see your daily wage minus overtime.

u have a point there .but the point i am making is this, the naija folks doing so are not likely to admit that, when they arrive in naija with their blink blink and flashy rides.

I really don't change diapers for a living.
But I know a husband and wife who do and they own a home and 2 cars.
I know several others too.
Infact most Nigerian nurses in America started off as nursing assistants.

It's in Nigeria that people answer big man and yet are dying of hunger.
Nurse assistants in America take care of mainly the elderly and their jobs include monitoring vital signs, feeding, bathing and toileting the patients amongst other things and there is no shame in it.

At least it pays the bills, that's my point.

i wasnt referring to u.

i think its easier to get rich in naija, if u dnt live by moral or legal laws.unlike in the diaspora ,nigerians dnt pay all those bills u have to pay there, its easy to evade them, bribery is the in- thing here.with a little egunje[bribe] u can get anything done.

so it isnt that naijas are not boxed up, it just that most naijas spend for the present and alsofor their ego and never for the future.

Most likely they won't admit, but the second part of the question is who is asking them what they
do for a living before they join the queue? So who is at fault, the ones showing off their blings and
cars bought with hard earned money but did not announce that they pack shit or those queuing up
with their shopping list?

So that you know too, its not only Nigerians that "pack shit", there are people of virtually every
race that work in nursing homes (take care of the elderly), they themselves don't go around here
announcing to the world that they "pack shit", not that its looked down upon here as it is a job someone has to do. Why should the Nigerians be any different?

Let's face it, even if one of these shit packers were to visit home and tell friends and relatives
what they actually do, I can guarantee you that almost everyone of them will laugh and
ask for visa assistance so they too can get a chance to pack a fair amount of shit abroad too.

some pack shit, some clean homes, some wait tables some drive taxis, some work in chemical plants, oil refineries, investment banks, telecomms companies and more.

those Nigerians living abroad work in a great variety of places, and most make enough money to keep them comfortable.

Like Osisi said - the couple that works in the nursing homes and have a home and two cars that they own, why wouldn't anyone want that?

As long as you are working in a dignified profession legally, paying your taxes and other obligations, then I don't see what the big deal is

the problem, however, lies in the misconceptions that people abroad must of necessity have more money, more prestige and therefore be better off than people in Nigeria. This is not always the case, but because of these expectations, some of the NID's end up keeping up a false image to the folks in Naija and whenever they come back home, they act all big and all due mostly to people's expectations of them.

This trend is being changed by a few who have been mentally liberated and refuse to live beyond their means when they get to Nigeria. the recent armed robber attacks on tokunbo Nigerians will even cause people to keep a low profile these days.

There is nothing wrong in wanting to go to the US/UK or elsewhere to have a 'better' life, just be clear on what that 'better' life entails and be ready to live with it. All this beef against the 'shit carriers' is misdirected. Na the shit money them dey send to some folk in Naija to shine with sef, these days its something of pride to say my uncle or my brother/sister is in Jand/Yankee.

I think our mentality is wrong for the most part, if we change that, some of these frictions will reduce

All shit na shit.

Naija shit, American shit, British shit, Italian shit, South African shit- same shit.

Problem be: carry naija shit, and you go beg for your salary.

May be, you go carry more shit so that the previous shit way you carry go get paid for.

@Paw-paw, or whatever he calls himself, has never seen naija people waiting and begging for them salary after carrying shit all month long?

WillyWilly why would you open that your filty mouth to insult paw-paw? Pawpaw is clearly speaking the mind of most of us. How you out there send money home? no matter how rich they are. I was going a paper the other day and a line keep ringing bell in my head, that a nigerian researcher and a profound pioneer in moden internet have not come for the past 30 years and don't have a house in nigeria.

What a shame.

What has the trash you wrote about got to do with anything? I am glad you mentioned this fellow and his internet pioneering work because his name will conjure more positive image of Nigeria than you, Paw Paw and others will ever possibly do residing in Nigeria.

@evergie

Are you retarded?

What has not having a house in naija got to do this thread?

Not having a house in Nigeria by such persons(who developed the internet) may be because people like Paw-Paw in the guy's family simply rip him off any time he tries to invest or build a house in naija.

So much anger, so much misinformation, and so much wickedness by people like you and Paw-Paw against their fellow, but better faring Nigerians at home and abroad.

Go hit your coconut head head on the wall!

Oh well, i guess we are truly the most divided people in the world Cry

Is there anything Nigerians actually aggree about?

This "resentment" between NIN and NID is meaningless. People have to do what they have to do to survive. Both sides of the debates has it's pros and cons so one side is not necessarily better than the other, it is all a matter of where you find yourself and how things work out for you. Some people have been more "lucky" than others in this regard, whether they are based in Nigeria or abroad. If the situation back home was very favourable, i am sure a lot of "stuff packer" may

What i know is that, based on my observations in my recent trips to Nigeria, Life is hard and a lot of folk won't mind getting out. Electricity is being "rationed" endlessly, no water and if coupled with no electricity is problems. Some of the roads are "death traps", people can't move around freely once it gets dark and so on.  Government officials also live in these conditions and either chose to do nothing or minimise the impact all these issues have on themselves.

For all those that really love Nigeria and would gladly die. Well done!! I also love love my country too, but not to the extent of dying.

I see diaper changers are still thinking may be I was refused visa. Is only an idiot who will think that the only way to make money is to emigrate. I am a prime example that you can make it in naija without stealing govt money. I  have more money than many of the people shouting "God bless America". I have travelled all over the world so am not jealouse if you live in Europe or America. The only place I've not visited is the moon. Congratulations!!! At least, according to your claims, you are making your money honestly.

Being an employer, however, is no guarantee to getting a visa. Most times, it is easier to get visas outside Nigeria than from Nigeria.

Not all who live abroad do sub standard jobs, some have very good jobs and still have properties in Nigeria. It is a case of being lucky and having the right opportunities.

Where are the diaper changers babyosisi and omoge? Does any body know if they are working tonight.
Please people try and donate so we can send back some of these suffered in America. Most countries now think the only work now Nigerians can do is cleaning.

Am setting up a trust fund for "STRANDED NIGERIANS ABROAD"(SNA)
Your donations will be appreciated. Please take this seriously because there are Nigerians abroad without the means to return home. Lets help these people. Thanks for your co-operation
