Their hair type, skin tone, lip form, Jaw structure, head shape and eyes are not that of your average Yoruba. Hair type? The 2 chicks you are talking about have their hair covered with head ties so I wonder how you saw their hair you keep talking about Please hero can you explain to us how a yoeu ba head is shaped, how yoruba peoples eyes are shaped how their lips and jaw structure like? because to me you are yarning dust And everyone knows sade adu is half cast so I wonder y u put her pic there.

They have scarfs on, though you can still see their hair showing around the hair line area, and unless they've been perming their hair continuously for the past, like, 20 years then, that's their real hair. Trust me, I these things, and if that's their real hair texture, then they aren't fully Yoruba. As for their face structures; let me just say that, there's a distinct average facial, head and eye structure in which are connected with different groupings of ethnics that is genetically passed down. Northern ethnics share very common characteristics do to their extreme closeness, along with the fact of that they all pretty much descended from the same body of people some 2000-5000 years ago in the Sahel, the the South Western groups share a comparable bond with each other, as do the South-Eastern groups. In the Central regions, things begin to blend to a great extent with these groups, in where, for example, you can find many Ijaw and Edo folks who are a splinter image of Eastern and Western appearance and or solely of Eastern and or Western. Like for instance, that AlmondJoy Bini chick on here, looks like a dead ringer for an Eastern Nigerian, and not because she's beautiful, but that simply because of the facial features and head shape she carries. Here in the US most people would not be able to decyfer her out as not being African-American do to the fact of that she looks just like one do to her Eastern Nigerian appearance in which the majority of AA have, do to the fact of that we are over 60% Eastern Nigerian descent. My wife and her whole Igbo family fits right in, most Igbo and many other Eastern Nigerians can go unnoticed as not being AA over here, unless the they speak and or inform someone that they they are not. Oddly the same is true for some particular Northern groups, though this is do to the fact of that many of the Northern groups also have long extended genetic connections and existence in the Senegambian region of African, in where many AA are also highly descendant from as well. Almost instantly an AA can tell that an Yoruba and or other Western Nigerian is not an AA, based on their facial structures, and in actuality, they can instantly tell that they are African period. Their genetic look is foreign to us, though if you'd go Central and South American their look is very common, because of the fact of that many, many were taken to those parts of the Americas, though they were not brought here to North America in all that great of numbers.

@ Hero. Do you know you've not been able to give any definite answer to my question How does a yoruba persons hair look like and how is it different from an Igbo persons hairline? Are you sure you are making sense? .You are not even a nigerian. At least 80% of Most girls have had their hair permed since they were kids. I've had my hair permed since I was a kid. I bet if you saw my hair you would say I'm an AA or what? PLs mr hero explain to us how a yoruba persons hair type, skin tone, lip form, Jaw structure, head shape and eyes look like since you are a master in identifyiny yoruba people though you are not a nigerian . You said yoruba people have distinct features yet you've not been able to say what these features are.

@ hero: you're partly wrong with many of your assumptions here. I know what features you're referring to as Yoruba, and you're very guilty of generalizing. All Yoruba do not have the same features. Obasanjo's features are unique to himself- most Egba do not look like that. You need to actually live in these communities you say you're so knowledgeable about, before you can actually begin to think you have any kind of a handle on what features are common to any group. Most people who are familiar with Nigerian regions have a general idea what particular groups look like. A Calabar person, for example, has features that are uniquely different from an Ishan or Ijaw person. Same goes for Igbo, Bini,Igala, Urhobo, Itsekiri Ebira, Idoma, Tiv ,etc. But it takes a certain level of familiarity with Nigeria to know and understand these differences. I doubt you're that familiar with the place to be as much of an expert as you think. There's a certain part of Yorubaland where the people seem to be generally lighter skinned than average.[since light skin is so important to you]. Their features are also not what you're calling "typical Yoruba features". And it has nothing to do with any admixture from the east. This region is nowhere near the east, in fact, its quite the opposite. even in the Americas, there are certain regions with features which could be mistaken for African. South carolina, for example. Many black Cubans. A lot of Haitians look Igbo. Many Jamaicans could also pass for Nigerian. I've met Alabamans who could be mistaken for African. Your shock at seeing pictures of pretty women who are Yoruba, is understandable, since you're not Nigerian and have preconceived notions of what "every tribe" looks like. I know what mental image you have that you feel are common to Yoruba, and while this may be true for some regions, its not true for all. Seeing a Yoruba who doesnt fit your stereotype doesnt mean the person has to be mixed. Some Yoruba are mixed, others are not. We are all west Africans, and there could have been a general mixing far back in ancient times , too far for anyone to remember, across the entire subsaharan Africa, back when people were moving up from east Africa or down from Sudan. No one knows. If you still insist on seeing things that are not there, then visit any majorly Nigerian church in the US which has a majority Yoruba presence, and compare the different tribes you see there. Or visit London and tour the Nigerian community Or subscribe to the Nigerian society magazine called Ovation. Its like Jet. There are plenty of pictures there. Your tribalism is almost overtaking even Africans' own. http://www.kwarastate.gov.ng/home.htmhttp://www.imostate.gov.ng/executive.htmlhttp://www.oyostategov.com/home.htmhttp://www.edostate.gov.ng/executive.htmldo you see all these differences you're trying to point out here, in the leaders featured on these state websites? Can you tell who is Yoruba and who is not, if you saw these pictures at random? That's the danger of generalizing the way you're doing here. will Africa ever be delivered from tribalism. It seems everyone who interacts with Africans gets caught up in this web. On another thread there is a kliptomet yarning his own.

I see it clearly. I never knew most of the slaves that came here were of Igbo origin till a few years ago. As soon as I landed America I commented that many AA I saw looked similar to Igbos. That is not a commentary on beauty or anything. The light skinned AA look Igbo, the darker skinned ones also have typical Igbo featues. Infact Condoleeza Rice looks just like my sister in law ROFL Usher looks like our houseboy and Wesley snipes looks like an agbero I've seen in Ochanja market

WOOW!!! What suprizes me most is how we think we know what tribe/ethinic group one is from just by appearance (this is esp. going out to Hero and Suze)- really u can tell what ethnic group people are not only by facial features but as well by body stature, complexion, hair texture, interesting- I learn something new everyday. Ok let's see just how good u guys really are. What's this girls tribe/ethnicity?:

EVERYONE (TRIBE) ARE CREATED BY GOD AND HE SEES THEM ALL AS EQUAL IN HIS SIGHT! SO THERE SHOULD BE NOT ARGUMENT ABOUT WHICH TRIBE HAS THE PRETTIEST GIRLS? it tool me a while 2 accept myself as GOD as created me, but now when i look in the mirror I THANK GOD FOR CREATING ME IN HIS OWN IMAGE!!

Is she not u? If she's you, than i still believe my first statement of igbo. Not from picture but from your picture signiture.
If she is not you, than i don't know, we'll leave it for suze and hero to decide. maybe she's a mixture of tribes, maybe she's half nigerian half something else, i really don't know
@ LadieSeun serious how silly is it to argue which tribe is prettier, and some of the people are grown adults!
