I find it very funny that some people from another place are laying claim to the city of Port Harcourt and some other people are saying that the place is "cursed".  If indeed the land belongs to your father then please feel free to come and possess it. This Port Harcourt matter has been hijacked by politicians and soldiers as usual ,  what a shame?

Why are all these uneducated people talking about curses.

The problem with Port Harcourt is retaliation induced by Governmental neglect nothing more!

The chaos will stop once the Militants and Gangs give way so that the government can embark on projects for the alleviation of poverty and construction of Infrastructure, Jobs etc.

Once there is stability, then such gangs will be easy to persecute.

But this isn't happening, because the people of Niger Delta do not realise that until there is peace nothing will ever improve. Not in a billion years. The gangs can fight for eternity, but until there is stability, poverty and unemployment will remain.

Because vital infrastructure being constructed are been hindered, by the chaos in the region.

Investments cannot be made, because of the state of chaos in the state.

Jobs cannot be created, because of the state of chaos in the state.

Revenue is been lost, because of the state of chaos in the state.

unemployment will only increase, because of companies leaving due to the state of chaos in the state.

Electricity cannot be adequately supplied, because Power plants cannot be constructed on time and existing facilities cannot be supplied with Gas due to the vandalism and hindering of construction due to the state of chaos in the state.

Innocent lives are been taken, and abductions are on the rise due to the state of chaos in the state.

Nigeria cannot go anywhere, as long as the Militants are in the region. Nothing can be achieved. Not even adequate corruption.

I bet Abacha is thinking to himself, "Even when I was in power at least Crude was been generated at a steady rate so there was a decent amount of money to launder"

Let us not be fooled by the Revenue, the amount of money in the Foreign reserves are only so because of accumulated savings over a prolonged period of time.

Last time I checked over 90% of Nigeria's Budget comes from Oil and Gas, if the situation in the Niger Delta worsens, and the Foreign Reserve is exhausted, Nigeria will be borrowing money from Haiti. People say the Niger Delta is bad, but the crisis in the region is infectious, if it is allowed to continue, the violence will spread to other parts of the country. And we will have 140 million people all yelling "We want a share of the Black Gold"

@willywilly,

maybe the solution to the argument is for us to find a way to see face to face and fnish this argument once and for all, because I am tired of saying one thing several times over.

crazyp, thanks for the compliment, but I really think that willywilly is musguiding so many people here and he needs correction [maybe face to face].

I stay in Town area [BONNY STREET to be precise, but do not ask me for the number, because some millitants could be reading our posts and then trace me to my house].

@back to willywilly

Port Harcourt is not cursed!! Port Harcourt is not cursed!! How many times am I going to say it before it gets into someone's thick skull? Let us be objective and reasonable, at least for once.

Haba, the problem is not a curse - but a neglect of duty on the part of our leaders. The governors [past and present], and the executive arms of government. Simple! Which kain curse be this? Where them do the curse?

Let's not say what we are not sure of. If you are called in a law court to defend this assertion with evidence, can you? by the way tell me your phone number, let me call you and speak sense into your mind - I hope for the last time.

Haba! wetin happen?

@ Otuonye,

its not really adviceable to talk on phone with willy
let him be with his twisted mindset
like u rightly said, militants may even b reading this
so i guess we just let him be

i personally feel if government empowers these youths
with employment, give the women of the Niger delta
loans to start up small trades & also empower their men,
clear up the mess the oil companies have done in these areas
it may go a long way in soving these problems

they just keep on complicating issues, how long are the military guys going to stay in ph
someone even told me last week that they've started raping girls that are being caught after 7pm
i don't know how true this is, i'm so scared stiff,
God help us if the rumours going round that the militants are training more for
a further show-down with the military men,
I SINCERELY PRAY FOR PEACE IN PH, its like a second home to me Sad

Militants training more?  This is amusing, unless they want their homes and lives leveled down in a week.  The only thing they can do is to carry Guerrilla warfare maybe someone betraying the Nigerian Military by giving the Militants information to carry operations. Yet, they will all be wiped out.

This is the symbol of the true Rivers State as shown in the beauty of the Niger Delta maiden below.

We are going to make sure that the future of our beloved Niger Delta will not be ruined by the kleptomaniacs in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Because, the PDP is the cause of the Niger Delta crisis.
They imposed a fake governor on Rivers State and he has to go.
Chief Edwin Clark and other elders of the state have said.

Enough of the madness.

Let us celebrate the beauty of Rivers State.

@ everyone

I think it is necessary for the GOVT of Rivers State to find out a way to solve the on-going crisis in Port Harcourt. In the meantime, the GOVT is trying very well, by bringing policies to curb the menace of cultists in Rivers State.

Recently, there was this public announcement on Radio to the effect that all the waterside areas of Port Harcourt [where the suspected millitants were hiding] are to be demolished.

I think it is a good initiative of the Omehia administration, to scatter all these areas in a bid to rid the area of bad boys [that's the word for cultists over here].

But I have one reservation: Is there any plan for a relocation of the people who will be affected by the destruction watersides. A good govt should plan very well for the people it governs.

If there is not a plan for the people who reside in those areas right now, then there may be more catastrophe when those areas are finally destroyed.

Whatever the govt can do to eliminate cultists in Rivers State, let them do it. We are in support. However, it is not good to destroy the wicked people with the righteous. The millitary need to get ways to carefully seperate the innocent people from those boys. Afterall, that's what they are trained to do.

I hear that some people killed by the soldiers are innocent people, who do not and have never participated in any cult activities before. If this continues, it is going to produce a wrong impression of the millitary.

Furthermore, I am also hearing that soldiers have started molesting civillians, because of the little power that they have acquired within these few days. Ah! Haba! Soldiers, wetin be this nah? You now rape the people you are trained to protect? This is not fair! Someone needs to caution these soldiers.

And for all those girls who claim that they were raped by the soldiers, my question is: WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUTSIDE OF YOUR HOME BY AFTER SEVEN 0'CLOCK PM?. Sometimes, we are the architects of our problems.

The govt says that everyone should go inside on or before 7 O'clock; yet we still see some people coming out and roaming the streets. If the soldiers rape you, make you no cry. Maybe the thing is even sweeting you sef.

You don't know who is Chief Edwin Clark.

You cannot say what you have posted in the open in PH, because you will wet your pants at the appearance of Soboma George and Ateke Tom who bow to a highly respected elder and Ijaw leader. And you are here hiding behind a computer online and insulting an elder.

The State of Emergency will put an end to the terrorism in Rivers State.

How long will the Nigerian Armed Forces stay in Port Harcourt?

Were they not there in 2004?
And when they left, the gangsters returned.

small boy you need to mind your speech, don't get carried away by the excitement of the army occupation of Port Harcourt. Are you trying to say its right for soldiers to start raping innocent girls in the line of duty?   Huh

nincompoops like you, if they find their way into the armed services would seize every opportunity to sexually assault helpless women.

remember those women who were assaulted are some people's sisters, daughters etc.  smallie you need to GROW UP!

Police nab Port Harcourt cultist
• Multi-million naira mansion uncovered
By DIPO KEHINDE
Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Detectives investigating a fraud case at the Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Ikoyi, Lagos have blown the cover of a 28-year-old Port Harcourt-based suspected cultist, who built a multi-million naira mansion that serves as his hideout in the Ojodu area of Lagos State.

Confirming the suspicion of the acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Mike Okiro that some outlaws, who have turned the Garden City into hell are from other states, the suspect who identified himself as Afolabi Adebayo, confessed to Daily Sun that his marauding gang operates in Port Harcourt and runs to Lagos to relax after making a hit.

Adebayo, who rides an automatic Cherokee Jeep marked HZ 892 AAA, confessed that he has made millions, even though he never had a visible means of livelihood.

Although he only described himself as "a local occultist," who also obtains money under false pretences, police believe there is more to Adebayo than meets the eye.
Wondering how he came about his fabulous wealth, the police are working on the theory that Adebayo could be a bank robber or one of the abductors who have been taking hostages and demanding ransom for their freedom.

When he was interviewed, Adebayo told Daily Sun: "I’m a local occultist. I also do 419 and I have an office in Port Harcourt with some boys working for me."
He claimed to have bought the plot on which he built the mansion for N2.8 million, insisting that he made his millions by curing people with back pains and helping those who wanted to be sexually virile.
Each time he was asked about members of his group or their whereabouts, he shivered and said: "Oh, I’m finished, please help me."

Adebayo, a native of Ikere town in Ekiti State, who said he was a fraudster, later confessed that the man who brought him into a dreaded cult group in Port Harcourt had died and he could not give the address of any member of the group, although he mentioned some names and said that whenever they had a job to do they made contacts on phone.

According to the Commissioner of Police at SFU, Mr Olayiwola Balogun, detectives were investigating a fraud case after receiving a petition from a woman who claimed that Adebayo duped her, when they stumbled on the other side of the suspect.

The police also recovered from Adebayo a Honda car and they have begun a bigger probe into the background of the suspect who did not have more than secondary school education
