Police nab Port Harcourt cultist
• Multi-million naira mansion uncovered
By DIPO KEHINDE
Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Detectives investigating a fraud case at the Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Ikoyi, Lagos have blown the cover of a 28-year-old Port Harcourt-based suspected cultist, who built a multi-million naira mansion that serves as his hideout in the Ojodu area of Lagos State.

Confirming the suspicion of the acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Mike Okiro that some outlaws, who have turned the Garden City into hell are from other states, the suspect who identified himself as Afolabi Adebayo, confessed to Daily Sun that his marauding gang operates in Port Harcourt and runs to Lagos to relax after making a hit.

Adebayo, who rides an automatic Cherokee Jeep marked HZ 892 AAA, confessed that he has made millions, even though he never had a visible means of livelihood.

Although he only described himself as "a local occultist," who also obtains money under false pretences, police believe there is more to Adebayo than meets the eye.
Wondering how he came about his fabulous wealth, the police are working on the theory that Adebayo could be a bank robber or one of the abductors who have been taking hostages and demanding ransom for their freedom.

When he was interviewed, Adebayo told Daily Sun: "I’m a local occultist. I also do 419 and I have an office in Port Harcourt with some boys working for me."
He claimed to have bought the plot on which he built the mansion for N2.8 million, insisting that he made his millions by curing people with back pains and helping those who wanted to be sexually virile.
Each time he was asked about members of his group or their whereabouts, he shivered and said: "Oh, I’m finished, please help me."

Adebayo, a native of Ikere town in Ekiti State, who said he was a fraudster, later confessed that the man who brought him into a dreaded cult group in Port Harcourt had died and he could not give the address of any member of the group, although he mentioned some names and said that whenever they had a job to do they made contacts on phone.

According to the Commissioner of Police at SFU, Mr Olayiwola Balogun, detectives were investigating a fraud case after receiving a petition from a woman who claimed that Adebayo duped her, when they stumbled on the other side of the suspect.

The police also recovered from Adebayo a Honda car and they have begun a bigger probe into the background of the suspect who did not have more than secondary school education

small boy you need to mind your speech, don't get carried away by the excitement of the army occupation of Port Harcourt. Are you trying to say its right for soldiers to start raping innocent girls in the line of duty? Huh

nincompoops like you, if they find their way into the armed services would seize every opportunity to sexually assault helpless women.

remember those women who were assaulted are some people's sisters, daughters etc. smallie you need to GROW UP!

I think you have a mental illness. Wait a minute! ,  Did you read my post very well before striking those on the keyboard? I have one word to describe people who think and talk like you - STUPID.

Ok. let's assume you were blind [maybe you actually are], I did not commend the soldiers outrightly for molesting people. No right - thinking person would do that.

If you read that post very well [unless your eyes can't even see a flicker of light], I said that the soliders need to be cautioned to prevent them from harrassing more people unneccesarily. I also said that they are trained to protect people and not to molest them.

So, open your thick skull a little when next you read my posts and stop saying thrash here.

Moreover, we are under a legitimate government. The govt has a right to impose whatever laws they deem fit in order to protect the lives and properties of people in any place. the govt says "NO ONE SHOULD BE SEEN OUTSIDE HIS/HER HOUSE BY 7:01PM AND BEYOND". Maybe get your deaf sister to flout that order again, so that she can complain of harrasment.

Get some sense. People say it is common, but I doubt it. If it were, you would have one. BUT YOU JUST DON'T.

Fact: Soldiers will keep raping even if they are 'cautioned' or 're-oriented', as long as they can get away with it.  Criminals - including militants and those in the army - only respond to punishment

@willywilly

sorry but i think you have been cursed already thats why you keep on saying Port Harcourt has been cursed, Port Harcourt has always been a quiet serene place until politicians brought out hoodlums from their dens. but for your info everything that has a beginning always has an end, theres time for everything if you must know.

so you can look for a place to settle that your accursed brain and stop saying things that might bring more curses for you

i hope you'll understand and shut up

The gun battle still continued till last Sunday and a Dutch man was shot and killed by unknown killers who said the white man duped them of $50, 000 they gave him to import Tokunbo cars for them.

Here is the report confirmed by the Nigerian police chief in Port Harcourt..

The painful part is; one of the other people killed in Rivers state last Thursday was a man named Bennett who was a devout member of our Assemblies of God Church in Finima on Bonny Island. The gunmen on a high-speed boat attacked their passenger boat and robbed them. But Benneth recognized one of the armed robbers and they shot and killed him with two other Igbo passengers to prevent them from disclosing their identities to the police.

The Nigeria LNG Ferry services have been suspended, since gunmen attacked one Nigeria LNG Ferry and killed the two mobile police escorts. Only last week they attacked a Nigeria LNG barge in the Bonny lagoon.

People are now living in fear.
It is now risky to walk on the streets and very risky to take the waterways. The oil companies now fly over Rivers state in helicopters and shuttle planes to escape from being attacked by the terrorists on rampage. But those who cannot fly, have to dare the devils on the prowl in Rivers state.

Only God can save us, because the Nigerian government cannot save us.

Why do Igbo people  hate the riverine people so much ?. It is the same igbo hatred on the riverine people that caused them to lose the biafran war. Today the trouble in the Niger delta is bringing to light how even a 10 yr old Igbo  hates the riverine people,  its a shame. big shame, If I was an Igbo I `d concentrate on how to develop the Igbo Land  than waste time on a 6 miles long city of small port harcourt,  Poor Igbo people,
