How happy are the Celtic fans? Some should be able to sleep well after knowing they just picked up Udoka. . . Terrific defensive player,

I will be honest with you, but for it being the east , I wouldn't invest much hope in this team to do well.
KG is a good cntre but not an impact player. There are faster(Stoudemire), bigger(Shaq, Duncan) centres in the league.
Essentially he is a jack of all trades but master of none. And he goes away far too much from the basket. I know it looks good for a 7 footer to handle the ball, but teams can quickly scheme against that.
Ray Allen's defense on the other hand is alright at best and often mediocre.
Paul Pierce I feel is the more consistent player of all three.
But hey its the East, and anything less than a final will be a disaster.

Naah They might be a strong team but i doubt if they have it in them to get to that Conference Finals, We have the Pistons,Cavs and my favoite team in the East the Bulls, The conference semis would be their bus stop if they make it there

I can see the Pistons give them trouble because they got heart and can lock on defense.
But Pierce and Allen are lights out shooters and when they are on, no defense is going to stop them.
Allen might be crap on defense but he has proved he can score in both conferences against anybody.
Pierce and Garnett have both got heart.
Garnett I think is the most important link.
Its too late now for him to bulk up but he has to play as a true centre on the offensive end and get closer to the rim. He takes too many jump shots.
As per the Cavs, I don't see any centre that can handle Garnett, and against Lebron and whoever, I back Allen and Pierce anyday.

On paper yes but in a real game situation i beg to disagree.Cavs are a very good team defensively and the Bulls have shooters in Hinrich, Gordon, and Deng and theres always big Ben in the centre they are a young team and if you ask me the future of the East

As the Bulls showed las season they can be quite off on the offensive end if not horrible.
Hinrich plays good defense but his offensive skills need work.
Garnett is as good a rebounder as Wallace so he has an edge cause he can score as well.
Simply put, I don't see anyone stopping the Celts, if they are all motivated.
They remind me of the Big three of the Bucks, Allen, Cassell and Big Dog Robinson. Crucial difference is Garnett adds way more size to the mix.
Watch out for the Nets tho as they get Krstic back

Yes they do have offensive outages but the Youth and play off experience the Bulls have gained would really serve them well. KG is not the KG aka Big Ticket we used to know. The Cavs are also growing so if you ask me These new bunch does not automatically mean success for the Celts

I think The boring spurs just snatched Udoka http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AuSdw64HqQb_TKgXX_0Bfpe8vLYF?slug=ap-spurs-udoka&prov=ap&type=lgnsWell If Garnett can blend in with the Celtics.I can see them going far in the playoffs but winning that title next season I don't think so. The bulls are good but they will still end up like the suns as long as detroit is still there The suns need to just hold on if they want to win the NBA title.Breaking that team up is going to be a diaster. Well shawn marion could be traded for better forward.I feel he is the one messing the team up.Every looks up to Nash, stoudimire then Shawn Marion.Nash hardly takes shot.ok but he need someone consistent who can take shots and shawn is not really good in that position(but good in others sha)

Naah i see the Bulls beating the Pistons this year they have that experience now i mean take a look at what happened between the Pistons and the Cavs, As for Phoenix are you kidding me? sell Shawn Marion arguably their best defensive player thats a good one.It means my Dirk would have a field day any time the Mavs come to town

The only season KG's team showed some real bite was playing with "Sam I Am" and "Spree", and that explain his MVP award. The big question for Celtics is, Will the combination of KG, Allen and Pierce show as much grit and experience? I don't think so. Celtics will make the play-off in the East, which obviously do not mean much.

@Black Mamba
I don't think either of Garnett or Pierce will lack in grit or determination.
The question is can they carry Allen along especially on the defensive end.
While none of the three will essentially command a double team Allen and Pierce are quite a threat, so this will allow them spread the floor and hence make dribble penetration easier.
I see this team making it out of the East, barring any major INJURIES.

Our prayer is getting answered this season. No cause for alarm. I hope Cuba will put money down to strenghten the squad sha. Make we talk true, the Celtics will be fired up by their acquisitions this season. The whle thing has been on Pierce's should for a long time now, having KG to help him out will be a welcomed development. I saw Reggie Miller in the title, tell me this is not true o.

Reggie Miller is retired my guy i don't know the Reggie Miller they are talking about, Cuban has to put money down ohh we want the title, imagine Finley left us the season after we got to the final and lost it beating his own team on the way and now he has got a ring.Celtics would be strong but i don't think they would conquer the east

I wonder too o.
Mavs. should come out strong this time around. Abeg make them give us the ring jare. We need a championship this season.
Celts may not be able to conquer the East but we shouldn't write them off when the battle is yet to begin. I'm not sure LBJ and his Cavs army were given any chance last season. Look at the Bulls too. So room dey for surprise o.

@beetintin Only if NOwitzki has manned up and is prepared to take the ball to the rim like a real 7-footer should. Imagine, a 7 footer that shoots more three's than he dunks. How are you going to win the title with that?

@doyin We go handle them this time.Thats Dirk's style he doesnt have that body mass to pound guys in the paint and thats why he goes for mid range jumpers.I think our Center spot is where the problem is at,

|
|
|
|
|
doyin13 (m)

If your franchise player can't handle attention unwanted as it is, then the Mavs have more problems than at centre.
I think Dampier is alright at centre. He is a good shot blocker, and I don't think you guys can upgrade anyway under the salary cap.
But NOwitzki needs to hit the gym. That's the big problem. That way at least he can command a double team.

@doyin What you need to realise was Golden state was our bogey team.So that psychological bloc was there Stackhouse was also woeful in post season and there are games you need your sixth man to step up big i assure you if we met the Spurs they wouldnt have won that title and they know it.
I want to see Devin Harris step up his offense too

@doyin Heard Penny Hardaway,Shawn Kemp, and even Reggie Miller yes Reggie are contemplating coming out of retirement whats your take?

Reggie Miller might still make an impact if he came out of retirement cause his penchant was for the jumpshot
Shawn Kemp was alreay overwieght before he retired I reckon he should impregnate another twenty women before he contemplates a return. Alas he might need the money for child support payments.
Penny Hardaway has never been desame since injuries and the loss of Shaq.
My take- we won't be seeing any of them on an NBA court anytime soon.
