State Of Lagos Bridges.
« on: August 21, 2007, 10:10 AM »

Has anyone here noticed the fast deteriorating bridges around Lagos metropolis? Please, watch out for those expansion joint. They are indeed death traps at the moment. After close of work yesterday, i was heading home in the rain, of  course there was slowly moving traffic. As i approached Ogudu bus stop on the descent from the bridge that takes one over that long carnal, i noticed that the expansion joint on the the bridge descent has moved farther than it was in the morning when i passed the other side o fthe bridge.

The 4-Wheeler in front of me made it through the trap. I followed suit but alas, my car tyres got stuck in between the gap created by the expansion joint.
It took the intervention of fellow motorist to get my car out of the gap.

we all need to be careful at this point. The gap is increasing by the day and yet nothing is been done to close it. There are several of such gaps on the 3rd mainland bridge as well.

Are the authorities waiting for these bridges to collapse before something is done?
