The top-half of women's draw is frightening. . . .  top-seeds go head to head far earlier than they would w'anna. Maria's luckier, she seems to be in a far easier pool - at least on paper!

Sharapova 4 finals. . . . any bets against that ?

I stick my neck, it's either Maria or Justine!

I will stick my neck out and say Vaidisova
or Kutznetsova from the bottom half.

If Sharapove meets Vaidisova in the
battle of the leggy blondes
I reckon Vaidisova.

Perhaps I am just biased
I no like Sharapova. (Grunting should be restricted to you know what  Grin)

Davydenko has progressed into the second round. The russians are having a nice time in NY.

The first seeded casualty emerges; Juan Carlos Ferrero falls in straight sets.

Baghdatis is a break up in the third set, can he turn it around?

Re: US Open: The Final Grand Slam

Two more russians progress to the next round - Zvonareva, Andreev.

Baghdatis has taken the third set.  He needs to win the remaning two sets though to move to the next round.

At Arthur Ashe is Henin taking on Goerges; she leads 3 - love first set.

Justin leads five to love in the first set of her match against Julia Goerges. Seems she would win this one easily. Baghdatis levelled at 2-2 in the fourth set.

dino, what else do you expect from my sweetheart? She's taken the first set (a bagel)

Should Baghdatis go through, I'm afraid Grosjean may run him over.

At last, we have an american in the second round,  Young beat Guccione to progress.

. . . it had to happen anyways, Baghdatis has crashed out. He blew away a 5-1 lead in the tiebreaker of the fourth set, only to lose it 8-6.

Henin has also progressed to the second round.

The Swiss Master is on court.

yes. . . . .  there's chances of all the top seeds meeting even earlier than the 1/4 finals, with the exception of Maria Sharapova who is in the 2nd pool of the draws. . . . b'4 maria meets any of the other top seeds, it'd be in the finals, if she makes it!
