3) Eminem
4) 50 Cent
5) Lauryn Hill
6) Nas
7) Jay-Z
Cool Canibus
9) Jadakiss

@ genius33, If i run it down to 30. . . . .Common won't hold a spot.
There are way too many good rappers for one to put COMMON amongst the LEGENDS.

Lonnie Lynn (AKA Common) aint that bad though!!

I don't think Canibus has done enough to grace top ten, AZ-yet is pretty similar to him and don't forget MOBB DEEP

Canibus??   He is easily the most talented rapper out of the whole lot.
However, one needs to be packaged well to forge through in the rap industry.
Go and listen to Poet Laureate where this cat rapped for 14 minutes breathless(even did on a Fela tune). . . . .
If he had been fortunate to work with Dr Dre or any other good producer out there. . . . .the rest woulda been history.

P.S.  Lauryn Hill(L.Boogie) is easily the best female rapper out there.  She is savvy!!!

True Canibus can spit, but the fact that he was pretty much sleepy in terms on gaining prominence
He never really got this materials out to the mainstream but kept churning out some good stuff
And that was just his downfall, i got a fe albums but i sweated like shit to get them in the UK
Nonetheless, he wont grace my top ten but definitely top20
Lyrically, i d say hez deeper than LL but overall, sales and recognition, he lost out! Wink

@ Method-Man,

Exactly ma point!!!

It's like Kaka playing for Shaktar Donesk in Ukraine. . . . .It would take a Biblical miracle for people to notice him.
Canibus is one of the most talented rappers out there. . . .That negro spits SCIENCE in the truest form but his packaging was non-existent.
The Game for instance is one of the wackest MCs i know BUT just because he was lucky to work with Fiddy/Dr De, he was instantly recognised.
What has become of him since he left G-unit/Aftermath records??

@ Jackal

Well you can scratch out 50 Cent and fit him in right there,  problem solved.  Grin
50 Cents nothing special, he hasn't made any significant difference to hip hop/rap whatsoever. The guy doesn't have anything important to say "I'm a pimp" "i got shot nine times" "i'm rich" blah blah blah. At least Common is a lot deeper than He is.
"G UNOT!!!"

Lauryn Hill, good choice. Grin

@ genius33,

Fiddy is the future of RAP. He is ma favourite.
His rapid wealth from scratch should be a lesson to all BLACK men. . . . . If only Tyson was that smart.
2002?? Fiddy was begging for record deals here n there. . . . .by 2005, he was leading various conglomorates OWNED by him.
He is a business man and for that he should be commended if u put MC Hammer and Iron Mike into consideration.

Lauryn Hill was too much for RAP. . . . Was disappointed when he chose family ahead of her career.
I wish she was a lesbian. Cheesy Grin

Hey, leave Tyson out of this!  Angry  I'll have you know he's one of the highest paid male models to date  Tongue

And why's it got to be all about his money. It's the top ten rappers not business men. I just don't agree with his principles, what he raps about and he isn't talented like the others on the list. He's just been well marketed plays into all the gimmicks of sex and violence and doesn't have anything positive to say.

It's all about the benjaminx, baby!!!!!

I like Fiddy . . . .  He packaged himself well. . . . .nose-dived into other commercial stuffs like owning a record company, fashion outfit, movies and even playstation games. He is the businessman. Cool Cool

Are u aware sex and violence is what today's hip-hop heads want to listen to? Talk about moral decadence.
Blimey. . . .are u saying Fiddy would have been successful rapping about Joshua and Moses in the hot desert?? Grin Cheesy

Well in my opinion, you couldn't pay me to listen to his records. He's not the only rapper turned businessman, although i give credit where it's due, he's talentless. Being rich doesn't make you a good rapper. I prefer rapper's who are in it for the love of music and not to get rich or die tryin'.

U r kidding me!!!!  Not even his first album?  Many Men, P.I.M.P.,In Da Club, 21 questions??
Come on. . . . .Those are classics.

I agree he has gone lazy these days with mediocre tracks but he has done enough to keep him on top of the echelon.
No rapper want to be broke. . . .They all want money. . . .
Fiddy has got it so let him flaunt it.

Never mind, by the time u wake up tomorrow. . . .U will be hitting HMV or Virgin to buy all his ALBUMS. Cheesy

Of course there are, that's why they do it in the first place, because its what they love to do like singers, actors etc, then the money starts rolling in and they get power hungry and want to dominate the whole music industry. I'm not saying they don't deserve to get paid for what they do, just trying to make a point, that 50 Cent is talentless and a few catchy beats have got him where he is today, unlike the greats who are better lyricists and have better skills.
