just to recap:

wednesday the 1st was the feast of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus, virgin and doctor of the Church;
thursday the 2nd (yesterday), was the Memorial of the Guardian Angels.

Now today's readings:

Friday of the Twenty-sixth Week in Ordinary Time

Reading 1
Jb 38:1, 12-21; 40:3-5

The LORD addressed Job out of the storm and said:

Have you ever in your lifetime commanded the morning
and shown the dawn its place
For taking hold of the ends of the earth,
till the wicked are shaken from its surface?
The earth is changed as is clay by the seal,
and dyed as though it were a garment;
But from the wicked the light is withheld,
and the arm of pride is shattered.

Have you entered into the sources of the sea,
or walked about in the depths of the abyss?
Have the gates of death been shown to you,
or have you seen the gates of darkness?
Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all:
Which is the way to the dwelling place of light,
and where is the abode of darkness,
That you may take them to their boundaries
and set them on their homeward paths?
You know, because you were born before them,
and the number of your years is great!

Then Job answered the LORD and said:

Behold, I am of little account; what can I answer you?
I put my hand over my mouth.
Though I have spoken once, I will not do so again;
though twice, I will do so no more.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 139:1-3, 7-8, 9-10, 13-14ab

R. (24b) Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
O LORD, you have probed me and you know me;
you know when I sit and when I stand;
you understand my thoughts from afar.
My journeys and my rest you scrutinize,
with all my ways you are familiar.
R. Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
Where can I go from your spirit?
From your presence where can I flee?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I sink to the nether world, you are present there.
R. Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
If I take the wings of the dawn,
if I settle at the farthest limits of the sea,
Even there your hand shall guide me,
and your right hand hold me fast.
R. Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
Truly you have formed my inmost being;
you knit me in my mother’s womb.
I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made;
wonderful are your works.
R. Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.

Gospel
Lk 10:13-16

Jesus said to them,
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!
For if the mighty deeds done in your midst
had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would long ago have repented,
sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon
at the judgment than for you.
And as for you, Capernaum, ‘Will you be exalted to heaven?
You will go down to the netherworld.’
Whoever listens to you listens to me.
Whoever rejects you rejects me.
And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”

Hey everyone, I guess we are all busy.
I too am busy, I try to come in here to relax a bit, there's nothing more relaxing thana debate, lol, I know it's strange.

Tribalist, you are very welcome, stay true to your faith, you know who is God, don't let the devil mislead you. I completely understand you, I have encountered the people you have named, they ask and ask and ask, but when questions are asked of them they don't have an answer, that's how you know those who are truthful and those who are deceitful. It's unfortunate that people get led away from the church because of people who don't even know the BIble they quote from. I was very saddened the other day, but my friend told me that those people never knew the faith. If they did, they wouldn't have left.

I went to a catechist conference, that's right I'm a catechist, and still learning. The Speaker there is a said that those who encounter Jesus and know him will never deny him, those who encountered him but didn't know him will deny him. That did it for me.
But our most powerful weapon against the devil is prayer, and yes the rosary is one of the greatesr prayer of the faithful.

I was speaking to some people that are converting to Catholicism from the "Bible belt" of the US. and after speaking to them, I realise that there are two main reasons these people convert.

1) They read the Church Fathers' writings
2) They prayed to Mary, especially the rosary.

It's amazing huh. Immediately Our Lord listens to his Mother and grants us many graces.
I will never stop loving her.

I love you all. Jesus loves you, Mary loves you.

Glory to Jesus
Honour to Mary.

lady, as we say in this parts, prayer is the key, the master key!
and padre pio, now St pio said that the Rosary is "THE WEAPON"
so we are not surprised that those who find the church, either newly or returning, usually are those who go through the two routes of prayer (especially the rosary) and the writings of the church fathers recommending the same prayers which is hallowed by being used by the church over the centuries.

in this month of october let us resolve to say the daily rosary (please don't forget my intentions, please please plllllleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaasssseeeeeee)
and the sacraments, especially penance.

Today's Saint
Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos (1819-1867)

Zeal as a preacher and a confessor led Father Seelos to works of compassion as well.

Born in southern Bavaria, he studied philosophy and theology in Munich. On hearing about the work of the Redemptorists among German-speaking Catholics in the United States, he came to this country in 1843. Ordained at the end of 1844, he was assigned for six years to St. Philomena’s Parish in Pittsburgh as an assistant to St. John Neumann [whose feast is observed on January 5]. The next three years Father Seelos was superior in the same community and began his service as novice master.

Several years in parish ministry in Maryland followed, along with responsibility for training Redemptorist students. During the Civil War, he went to Washington, D.C., and appealed to President Lincoln that those students not be drafted for military service.

For several years he preached in English and in German throughout the Midwest and in the Middle Atlantic states. Assigned to St. Mary of the Assumption Church community in New Orleans, he served his Redemptorist confreres and parishioners with great zeal. In 1867 he died of yellow fever, having contracted that disease while visiting the sick. He was beatified in 2000.

Quote

“To the abandoned and the lost he preached the message of Jesus Christ, ‘the source of eternal salvation’ (Hebrews 5:9), and in the hours spent in the confessional he convinced many to return to God. Today, Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos invites the members of the Church to deepen their union with Christ in the Sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist” (John Paul II, beatification homily).

Hiya people! Sorry i have to miss you guys everynow and them because i get back from work very late but i will try to catch up with you guys some day. Yesterday was st. theresa day and mass was really wonderful. It was especially good for me because my sister is named theresa so we had fun in church, lol

Hope you guys have a very blessed weekend in the lord.

P:S: While you are at it, see the rubbish posts pilgrim is posting about catholics in respect of apparitions and images. It is all meant to ridicule and make fun of catholics. Are we still supposed to ignore this evil woman or counter these evil assumptions towards the church?

Guys please advise because i can't stand people who are hell bent on making people unhappy to make themselves feel better.

I will give you the same advice a priest gave me, pray for them. Offer it up to God. Show them love. Be like Christ. I too have made the mistake of letting them get to me and I am not usually the one to get affected by such discussions.

Now all I do is pray for them. So pray for them.

This is nothing new, and I know it hurts but the best thing to do is pray and love them anyway. Do not become like them, don't let hatred and anger consume you that you forget to be Christ to them. Be like Christ.

Well guys, I may be missing for a while, I will try my best to pop in and say hello. SOOOO HELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

we all (catholics or otherwise) can't stand it too. but do you know the irony of it?
Our Lady can stand them all! and she asks us to at least try and love this people and show them the true face of her son's church so they understand.

you should read about fatima where she told the three children to pray and make reparation for the sins and offenses against the sacred heart of Jesus and her immaculate heart.

so we pray the fatima ejaculation: oh our good Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are most in need of your mercy, amen.

Monday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time

Reading 1
girl 1:6-12

Brothers and sisters:
I am amazed that you are so quickly forsaking
the one who called you by the grace of Christ
for a different gospel (not that there is another).
But there are some who are disturbing you
and wish to pervert the Gospel of Christ.
But even if we or an angel from heaven
should preach to you a gospel
other than the one that we preached to you,
let that one be accursed!
As we have said before, and now I say again,
if anyone preaches to you a gospel
other than the one that you received,
let that one be accursed!

Am I now currying favor with human beings or God?
Or am I seeking to please people?
If I were still trying to please people,
I would not be a slave of Christ.

Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters,
that the Gospel preached by me is not of human origin.
For I did not receive it from a human being, nor was I taught it,
but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 111:1b-2, 7-8, 9 and 10c

R. (5) The Lord will remember his covenant for ever.
or:
R. Alleluia.
I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart
in the company and assembly of the just.
Great are the works of the LORD,
exquisite in all their delights.
R. The Lord will remember his covenant for ever.
or:
R. Alleluia.
The works of his hands are faithful and just;
sure are all his precepts,
Reliable forever and ever,
wrought in truth and equity.
R. The Lord will remember his covenant for ever.
or:
R. Alleluia.
He has sent deliverance to his people;
he has ratified his covenant forever;
holy and awesome is his name.
His praise endures forever.
R. The Lord will remember his covenant for ever.
or:
R. Alleluia.

Gospel
Lk 10:25-37

There was a scholar of the law who stood up to test Jesus and said,
“Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
Jesus said to him, “What is written in the law?
How do you read it?”
He said in reply,
“You shall love the Lord, your God,
with all your heart,
with all your being,
with all your strength,
and with all your mind,
and your neighbor as yourself.”
He replied to him, “You have answered correctly;
do this and you will live.”

But because he wished to justify himself, he said to Jesus,
“And who is my neighbor?”
Jesus replied,
“A man fell victim to robbers
as he went down from Jerusalem to Jericho.
They stripped and beat him and went off leaving him half-dead.
A priest happened to be going down that road,
but when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side.

Likewise a Levite came to the place,
and when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side.
But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him
was moved with compassion at the sight.
He approached the victim,
poured oil and wine over his wounds and bandaged them.
Then he lifted him up on his own animal,
took him to an inn, and cared for him.
The next day he took out two silver coins
and gave them to the innkeeper with the instruction,
‘Take care of him.
If you spend more than what I have given you,
I shall repay you on my way back.’
Which of these three, in your opinion,
was neighbor to the robbers’ victim?”
He answered, “The one who treated him with mercy.”
Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

Tot i should share with y'all the novena prayer in honour of our Lady of the Holy Rosary!!!

Subject: October Devotion (in honour of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary): Sixth day

Our Lady of The Holy Rosary Novena Prayer

This novena is to be said along with a daily rosary.

(for those who can't say the Rosary along with the prayer can say it anytime of the day)

DAY 6

My dearest Mother Mary, behold me, your child, in prayer at your feet. Accept this Holy Rosary, which I offer you in accordance with your requests at Fatima, as a proof of my tender love for you, for the intentions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in atonement for the offenses committed against your Immaculate Heart, and for this special favor which I earnestly request in my Rosary Novena: (Mention your request).

I beg you to present my petition to your Divine Son. If you will pray for me, I cannot be refused. I know, dearest Mother, that you want me to seek God’s holy Will concerning my request. If what I ask for should not be granted, pray that I may receive that which will be of greater benefit to my soul.

I offer you this spiritual “Bouquet of Roses” because I love you. I put all my confidence in you, since your prayers before God are most powerful. For the greater glory of God and for the sake of Jesus, your loving Son, hear and grant my prayer. Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation.

AGONY IN THE GARDEN - Mtt 26: 36-50; Luke 22:41-43

Jesus prayed with great intensity and anguish over His impending death. His agony, perhaps, was an inner one; a distress and sadness that the death He was about to undergo, would be suffered in vain for many. Like Jesus, we also face crucial decisions, stress and difficulty, and pain in our daily lives. In our trials and misery, will we be loyal? If we can kneel with Jesus in His agony, He will be there in ours.

Let us today pray for all those who suffer, physically, and emotionally; all those who are spiritually ill. Let us pray that their agony can be united with that of Jesus, and not lost through despair or resentment. We pray that Mary; The Comforter of the Afflicted, might assist in laying the needs of the suffering before her Son.

Reflection :

Jesus, Son of Mary, has no likeness among men, nor Mary any likeness among women.
He is the most beautiful of the living.She is a splendid dawn rising, - Saint Bruno

O Mary, you are blessed among women.May all women take you as a model of Womanhood and thus obtain greater blessings for the world from your Divine Son. Amen

Memorial of Saint Gregory the Great, pope and doctor of the Church
Reading 1
1 Cor 3:1-9

Brothers and sisters,
I could not talk to you as spiritual people,
but as fleshly people, as infants in Christ.
I fed you milk, not solid food,
because you were unable to take it.
Indeed, you are still not able, even now,
for you are still of the flesh.
While there is jealousy and rivalry among you,
are you not of the flesh, and walking
according to the manner of man?
Whenever someone says, “I belong to Paul,” and another,
“I belong to Apollos,” are you not merely men?

What is Apollos, after all, and what is Paul?
Ministers through whom you became believers,
just as the Lord assigned each one.
I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused the growth.
Therefore, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything,
but only God, who causes the growth.
He who plants and he who waters are one,
and each will receive wages in proportion to his labor.
For we are God’s co-workers;
you are God’s field, God’s building.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 33:12-13, 14-15, 20-21

R. (12) Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
Blessed the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people he has chosen for his own inheritance.
From heaven the LORD looks down;
he sees all mankind.
R. Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
From his fixed throne he beholds
all who dwell on the earth,
He who fashioned the heart of each,
he who knows all their works.
R. Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
Our soul waits for the LORD,
who is our help and our shield,
For in him our hearts rejoice;
in his holy name we trust.
R. Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.

Gospel
Lk 4:38-44

After Jesus left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon.
Simon’s mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever,
and they interceded with him about her.
He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her.
She got up immediately and waited on them.

At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases
brought them to him.
He laid his hands on each of them and cured them.
And demons also came out from many, shouting, “You are the Son of God.”
But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak
because they knew that he was the Christ.

At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place.
The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him,
they tried to prevent him from leaving them.
But he said to them, “To the other towns also
I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God,
because for this purpose I have been sent.”
And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

Today's Saint
Our Lady of the Rosary

Pope St. Pius V established this feast in 1573. The purpose was to thank God for the victory of Christians over the Turks at Lepanto—a victory attributed to the praying of the rosary. Clement XI extended the feast to the universal Church in 1716.

The development of the rosary has a long history. First, a practice developed of praying 150 Our Fathers in imitation of the 150 Psalms. Then there was a parallel practice of praying 150 Hail Marys. Soon a mystery of Jesus' life was attached to each Hail Mary. Though Mary's giving the rosary to St. Dominic is recognized as unhistorical, the development of this prayer form owes much to the followers of St. Dominic. One of them, Alan de la Roche, was known as "the apostle of the rosary." He founded the first Confraternity of the Rosary in the 15th century. In the 16th century the rosary was developed to its present form—with the 15 mysteries (joyful, sorrowful and glorious). In 2002, Pope John Paul II added the Mysteries of Light to this devotion.

Quote

“[The rosary] sets forth the mystery of Christ in the very way in which it is seen by St. Paul in the celebrated ‘hymn’ of the Epistle to the Philippians—kenosis [self-emptying], death and exaltation (2:6-11),  By its nature the recitation of the rosary calls for a quiet rhythm and a lingering pace, helping the individual to meditate on the mysteries of the Lord’s life as grasped by the heart of her who was closer to the Lord than all others” (Paul VI, Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, 45, 47).

Our Lady of The Holy Rosary Novena Prayer

This novena is to be said along with a daily rosary.

(for those who can't say the Rosary along with the prayer can say it anytime of the day)

DAY 7

THE SCOURGING AT THE PILLAR - Mk 15:1-2; Jn 18: 36-37; Luke 22:69-70; Jn 19:1; Is 53:3-5; Luke 23:64; Mk 15:15

Pilate, disturbed at the meek majesty of his prisoner, had him scourged at the pillar; though he could not find any fault in him. Perhaps he simply resented the fact that Jesus had no use for this world, Pilate's world, and spoke so overwhelmingly for the next world. Which way do we view this world? Are we willing to give all, only for this life? Or can we offer and accept our suffering as a sacrifice to God, as Jesus offered His life for us?

Let us offer this prayer in thanksgiving for the sacrifices made by Our Lord for the love of us. Pray also, in reparation for all the sins of the world inflicted upon the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the indifference to His Mother.

Reflection:

But thanks be to God who always leads us in victory in Christ Jesus and manifests through us the fragrance of the knowledge of HIM everywhere. - 2 Cor 2 : 14

The Rosary represents a symbol of Mary's graces.
Christmas invoke her as ''Queen of the Most Holy Rosary'', which conjures up the brilliant conquests of faith over evil and over religious ignorance.- Pope Pius XII

O Mary, you are Our Lady of the Rosary. Enable me to share in the spiritual victories over evil that you accomplish with Jesus' help through the Holy Rosary. Amen
