Why Super Eagles?
« on: August 31, 2007, 12:24 AM »

Hey Guys,

I have an internship in this Insurance Company, and my boss wants to know why our team is called the SUPER EAGLES, I have no idea why he wants to know he watched them play a match a while ago and till this day ponders about the conception of the name super eagles. I already told him I have no idea since I am clueless about any sport, but I would like to surprise him with an answer, in the hopes of impressing and may sucking up a little.

So please if you know the answer let me know, thanks.

@yemstar

What a question!

I don't think i have the answer but i can give a clue

Our national team used to be called Green Eagles many years ago.

We are very much okay in Africa but relatively unknown outside Africa.

In Clemence Westerhof(our former Coach) era, we blossom, we were known all over, in fact many of our players started plying their trade in Europe using Belgium as the main home.[ Not that we don't have professional footballers in europe before but they were very minute]

We were known to be playing entertainment+ effective football.

Our FA now changed our name to Super Eagles.

Any addition from Oldies like Kitaun, BolaOni, Sirkay, Bagoma et al
