Expert Advice Needed: Honda Academy Problem
« on: September 03, 2007, 10:24 AM »

hello guys!
Would appreciate if anyone with expert auto intuition and experience help me out on this.
I'v got a Honda Academy 98 model, american specs, All round automatic and in great shape.
Two days a go I noticed that while cruising at a steady speed, it will of its own accord slacken speed and then surge forward again all by itself. it does this continuously. from a speed of 100km/h it could suddenly surge to 120km/h. I don't know what could be wrong and I don't want to call a mechanic yet without having an idea of what the problem is. You all know mechanics and how they can finish a car!

So there. Anyone with the same experience? Any info? Thanks a bunch.

I really don't have an idea as to what might be the problem then.
Hold on, some experts would soon come online.

Your check engine ligth should be on, check the DTCs, sounds like dirt in throttle body and/or IAC(idle air controller) TPS or dirty fuel injectors.

One of the last place you bought your fuel probably has a leak in their underground thank for rain/gound water to get into fuel

They don't sell Honda Academy in US market, but they sell it in Naija as Academy, Halla, Bullet(?), Babyboy, and End of Story. Depending on what model year of Honda Accord in question. You need a crash course on Naija's auto jargon.I doubt you don't know the car they call "pure water"

@goldenray
Its time to get new fuel filter

@ sultan,

I'm very much familiar with the nigerian auto jargons. especially hondas. Case in point, "the Bullet", is the name for the european version while the "Bulldog" is the American Version . This is the 1994-1995 Hoda Accord Model.
 So you need to take a notepad. Class started 2 weeks ago. Sit down let me teach u something u don't know.  And yes, please check yourself before you ,
