I don't get the evil here. I don't get the hate. I wish I could cast a spell and make everybody nice.
Hello I live in Yuma, Arizona (in the USA). I moved here with two of my children from Buffalo, New York, where we all were born and raised. Most people don't know the difference between the two places. Buffalo, New York is at the tip of Lake Erie, fourth of the five Great Lakes. Buffalo is a very wet place with numerous creeks and rivers in and around the city. Lake Erie flows into and becomes the Niagara River at the Peace Bridge, which links Buffalo, NY to Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. To get to Canada you have to go west from Buffalo, Tonawanda, Grand Island and Niagara Falls, New York. Niagara Falls, NY shares the mighty Niagara Falls with Niagara Falls, Ontario. Winter is super scenic for the Falls with tolerable cold at the immediate. The water sends up fog and mist and greenish ice floes (yes Dears not flows) sometimes three feet thick that ducks have a lot of fun on. Winters can get cold down to -40 Fahrenheit wind chill. Winds can gust 25mph or more any time of year, but winter wind downtown can cut through your many layers of protection that make
you appreciate summer with all its humidity and rain. It can rain or snow any time of year in Buffalo (seen it)!

Of course this is only a thumbnail of my home town, but now it's time to mention my new home in Arizona.
Yuma was not my first choice to stop when my two children and I left Texas. My daughter and son wanted to go see their godbrother, Scott; which we did. Scott wanted us to stay longer but his girlfriend got her head on her butt (or butt on her head) about something. They live in Phoenix, Arizona. I wanted to keep going west to San Diego, California but my kids wanted to stay in the same state with Scott. We stopped at the western edge of Arizona, Yuma. Cowboy movies and "desert-themed" movies from the early through mid twentieth century often shot here. The area and some of its pre-American people (Cocopah and Quechan tribes) were utilized in "Stargate." The movie triggered a TV series, "Stargate SG-1" which ran 10 seasons (the show was not shot here). Autumn and winter northern people called, "Snowbirds" when they come here because they "migrate" down here fall and winter and go home in the spring. Most of them are retirees. Once in a while a few will buy property and stay. We live in the Sonora Desert, the leftover of a prehistoric ocean. The land, when wet, slips under the feet as you walk. The water is salty. There is a desalination facility here but politics keeps it closed. Salt water is not good for people. The Colorado River runs through the city and a few irrigation streams have been cut from the river to feed crops that still grow here. Unfortunately for me, sulphur is frequently used on the fields to rebuild nutrients that could ready the land for the next crop. As with the salty water, I suffer from the sulphur because it makes me choke. Having it also in the water messes up my first trip to the toilet smells like something I might have done and maybe not flushed until I remember the crop behind my house was just mowed under. We are the only Black family in an area some call "Little Mexico." We've been here two years and have no friends. That could be a good thing. I took rent for the house when I saw an eagle glide over the house and looped over it three times.
Some of my ancestors came from Nigeria. They were Yoruba. They paid their way to Cuba in the early Seventeen hundreds. Mentality of the time called Cuba "the Island." It is likely they settled in the eastern-most province of Oriente, where the vast majority of African lineage were taken and enslaved. After the abolition, I guess they got used to where they were. I want very much to learn whichever branch of my background I can. My great-grandmother was a conjure doctor, aka rootworker. Her father-in-law's male line were "workers of magic and had sway over the earth, what was in it, what was on it." and that the line goes back as far as Yoruba. There is a lot for me to learn. I believe the lifestyle should be passed on. Could some one help me?
