Jena6 Injustice In Louisiana
« on: September 06, 2007, 01:11 AM »

In September 2006, a group of African American high school students in Jena, Louisiana, asked the school for permission to sit beneath a "whites only" shade tree. There was an unwritten rule that blacks couldn't sit beneath the tree. The school said they didn't care where students sat. The next day, students arrived at school to see three nooses (in school colors) hanging from the tree. (Please note, the tree above is not the tree, but a tree at Jena High School.)

The boys who hung the nooses were suspended from school for a few days. The school administration chalked it up as a harmless prank, but Jena's black population didn't take it so lightly. Fights and unrest started breaking out at school. The District Attorney, Reed Walters, was called in to directly address black students at the school and told them all he could "end their life with a stroke of the pen."

You beat me to this, I was about to start a topic about this. You need to know how I am feelin, I feel like slapping every pink pig around me. Black people ( dark-skinned people) cannot take this anylonger. How do you explain Rodney King, Amadou Diallo, Sean bell and every other african that has been lynched.
I am seriously thinking about starting a new Black Panthers, BLACK POWER FOR LIFE!

@n-guage
For you to feel like slapping any white person around you (and to also refer to them as 'pigs') by virtue of their skin color, that shows you yourself are a racist idiot

@topic
This is really terrible. I wonder what prominent black leaders are doing about it. at the very least i'd expect some statements from them and some well orchestrated moves to set these guys free. Racism is a terrible, terrible thing an the sooner it's stamped out, the better.

@toshmann

It is sad but this is the experience for Black people in America. People forget that we are only 40 years from consistent lynchings and segregation. The States is not a Black Man's country. You just live here but if it was your country, there would be no need for the 13th Amendment, 14th Amendment, 15th Amendment, Reconstruction, Civil Rights Act of 1964, or Voting Rights Act of 1965. I think if Black people were truly Americans then the Declaration of Independence and Constitution would have sufficed. Why pass all these laws when "all men are created equal"? All one would have to do is just follow the guidelines that are stated in the two documents I stated previously.

why are people pretending to be shocked by this?
These kind of things go on everyday in white communities in varying degrees and proportions but many non-white people are uninterested till it happens to them or close to them. To think that any white person does not consider you as inferior as a result of your skin colour is to be utterly stupid. It is not necessarily because they are born to be evil but it is a product of the system within which they are brought up and the way they have been conditioned to reason.

Some people like to think that it is just a few white people who are racist. hopefully such people will wake up from their slumber before it's too late. I abhor violence but I have realised that the only thing that white people understand and respect is when you can outdo them in whatever they want to do. Get a good education but also be prepared to lay into them with greater force than they lay into you and you will see them having some respect for you. Not that they will see you as being equally human but there will be some respect and they wont mess about with you.

you gotta be a fool for insulting a guy who expressed his disgust at what is being meted out to people like him. It could have been him, his child, his relative or his friend that it happened to and you think he should just take it and feel no emotion. Because you sit someone and think it can never happen to you does not mean other people don't empathise. I pray it happens to you or your family member or even your child, if you're ever able to have one, then you will know how repulsive one can feel when such things happen.

@JustGood,
There's no excuse for stupidity. We're here condemning racism in all forms, and yet you ask me to condone a racist statement by someone just because he's a Nigerian or Black like myself?
Unlike idiotic hypocrites like yourself, my goal and desire is not to rid white people of racism, but to rid ALL the world of racism. racism in any form is a terrible, terrible thing, and for him to express a desire to slap any white person around him (even going as far as calling them 'pigs') it's an obviously racist statement.
And then he goes on to express a strong wish to form (or join) a Black Supremacist cult/gang.

Decent people are talking about Equality and yet your hero is talking about forming a Supremacist group. Only a stupid person will fail to see that this also has racist leanings.

People like you and n-guage make me sick, you're all cogs in the gears of racial hatred. When whites commit racial crimes against black, retaliation only gives fuel to those who see black people as a threat. Use what little brains you have and think before talking.

Much of racial violence is targeted at innocents. You advocate that black people (almost always a minority in western countries) attack with 'greater violence'. Your approach advocates burning down churches, killing innocent toddlers and hanging white jaywalkers. is that logic? All that in a bid to gain 'respect'. How does being more evil than the 'demons' redeem you? How much self-respect does that give you? I'll chalk this down to your low IQ and move on.

Firstly, i've NEVER claimed to represent the US Army. In fact, i've never before been in the continental US, so you prolly have mistaken me for some other guy

As to your 'disappointed in me' comment, what other respons was there to this:

'Whitemen' rule in white-dominated countries. what's so wrong about that?
My stance is against all racism. FIFA's campaign against racism says 'Kick against racism'. Samuel Etoo and Thierry Henry (both black people!) preach 'Kick Against Racism' not 'Kick Against White people'.
So prominent Black role models are preaching against people like you. Whether Black Panther or KKK, all are the same EVIL in my eyes, and the eyes of every right-thinking person.

This incident happened in the US South, historically an area with some lingering latent racist sentiments. In much of the continental US racism is pretty much an old story.

Racism will die a natural death soon enough. With each successive generation, and with more enlightenment it's on the wane almost everyone. there's tighter integration of all races from an early age now, and this helps.
Violence will only bring about more racial hatred, and perpetuate racism in the hearts of many. if you can't see this, there's nothing i can do to help you.

Texasfool, you are a bumbling fool for that rant.

You probably owe your existence and survival to the benevolence of some white person(s) hence the need for you to advocate the impossible. People like you always have examples (lies) of what happened to you 'last night' to try and defend your silly stances.

I maintain and insist that the only thing that white idiots understand is an equal or greater force than theirs in whatever they do. While Texaslunatic can say what he likes, white people will continue attacking physically and mentally until they realise that they cannot win. They then shift their strategies elsewhere.

I continue with my prayer that if texasdog is ever able to have a family in his life, his family will be subjected to horrific racist violence and then he can come out to tell the world that when the white man attacks you, you should come out of the hospital and go give him kiss for so doing.

I've studied this case. While there is indeed some racial prejudice at play here, I sincerely don't believe these young men are all entirely guilty. At least one of them already has a record of criminal violence.

Justgood, you post makes you sound exactly like these "white racists" you claim to hate, the only difference being that you are black. Racism is not a white thing, it's a hate thing.

Your stupidity does not sway me, neither does your pathetic 'prayer'. YOU have nothing to fear, however, because you will not procreate after your evil prayer bounces back at you.

@All
Isn't it racist of you to say something derogatory and generic about a race?
Yes it is.
Black people aren't racist. And neither are white people, or any other people, for that matter. Specific individuals may be racist, who happen to be black, white, yellow, orange, green, etc.
JustGood and n-guage are racist. and they're among the evil people i'll be telling my kids to stay away from.

Just for the record, i saw this somewhere, written by a white american. This should be addressed to JustGood and Nguage

WHY CALL US RACIST

You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction.

You call me "Whiteboy", "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey" and you think it's OK.

But when I call you, [black], Kike, Towelhead, Sand-[black], Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or Chink you call me a racist.

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

You have the United Negro College Fund.
You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month.
You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Yom Hashoah
You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi
You have the NAACP.
You have BET.

If we had WET(white entertainment television) we'd be racists.

If we had a White Pride Day you would call us racists.

If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.

If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives, we'd be racists.

If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US, yet if there were pme "White college" that would be a racist college.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us.

But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

Y'know, i've always wondered why it's right to call Eminem a racist when he disses Michael Jackson, but it's perfectly OK to play Ice T when he disses bill and Hilary clinton on tape. Weird!

read this

http://www.snopes.com/politics/crime/jena6.asp

This shows that the white guy in question was hit from behind, and was stomped on the ground repeatedly by black youths, even while he lay unconscious.

the only guy among the 6 to be tried hasa repeated history of violent assault. he's been convicted on one, and he committed 3 more assaults even while on probation.

hatred precipitates hatred. While i sympathize with him for the obviously biased trial he recieved, he must know that he's hands are totally dirty too. Must i cry when evil is done to an evil doer?

The nickname 'Texaspete' was given to me a long time ago by a misguided friend who said i reminded him of the villain in SuperTed, known as Texas Pete. This has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the state of Texas. You and many others who make this silly mistake would not be in that position of you had a fulfilling childhood, i believe. I have never been in the Continental US, not to talk of Texas state.

I am not married, i have no child! Not yet, at least. I fail to see how i could have posted a picture of myself with my 'daughter' when

1. I am yet to have a child
2. I NEVER paste pics of myself in public forums. I've changed my NL profile pic like 3 times, all invariably have been of amusing animals or objects, or cartoons.

It's strange YOU accuse me of attention seeking when you're the one whose username is in all CAPS, and you're the one that posts sensationalist topics in the Politics section of nairaland.

I won't hold my breath for the apology i deserve. I have your measure, you see. I will be delighted if i'm proved wrong and you accept your error.

These are the six kids in a racist and predominantly caucasian little town of Jena, Louisiana who are being charged with a baseless case of attempted murder.

Just wanted y'all to know what's happening to our American members of the African family.

Do we owe it to them to demand they are treated fairly or we resign to fate and leave them to be burnt at the stake?

All this for daring to sit under a "white tree" from which African American students have been segregated.

Meet the Jena 6.
