Gents,
I am happy to inform you that sometime in January/February, 2008 we will have available in Nigeria, 3.2m strong pan dish which will be very good for receiving Nilesat channels, especially for those of us that resides in the southern part of the country. However, with a 2.4m strong pan dish, I am currently receiving most of the Nilesat channels. The harmatthan has really helped alot in improving the signal strength. In warri, I can watch MBC1, 2, 3, 4, MBC Action, ONE TV, City 7, Kuwait Sport etc, for twenty four hours since late last month. I believe this trend will continue through out the harmatthan season. During the raining season, using the same size of dish, you can watch the above channels from about 10.00pm till about 10.00am in Warri and it's environs.
In general, when it is about 1.00pm the signal for most of the stations will start to drop. But around 9.00pm the signal will be coming up again.
If you live in Warri and would like to see for yourself, phone me on 08023055983.

Pitodenz
Since you cannot get me on phone from now till about 20th Dec, I will have to call you to continue our discussion.

Thanks for your contributions so far

Ipe,
With your dish @ 7.0 deg west, enter the following info into your receiver.

Dubai One -                       11785 V 27500
CITY 7 -                             11862 V 27500
MBC 1-4 & MBC ACTION - 11938 V 27500

There are others which you may need for your enjoyment. Why not try www.lyngsat.com. Also, remember that some of these frequencies are already programmed in some receivers, like strong. Check previous threads for more info and have a nice day.

sum months bak i went 2 alaba in search of a decoda that could wok wit our local cable when i was shown this SUNWIN DVB and was tld that it culd wrk wit it, when tested it got Nollywd, cnn, caqnetwrk, trace, mbi and a xtian chanel. After sumtime the chanels was scrambld leaving only Nollywd behind. I got tired of watching nollywd alone so i decided 2 return the dvb. My question is can STRONG decodr do this, i mean can i connect my cable antenna to my strong and have it work, since our strong decoder is also a dvb. I think if the sunwin dvb could do this then ströng should too.

Fadinus,
In the first place, your local antenna does not and cannot communicate with satellites. It receives stations aired by local companies such as CTL (who transmit stations they receive from satellites). secondly, it looks like the sunwin dvb box is a Freeview receiver which is compatible with such local Califonia antenna. Some second hand 28" flat tube televisions (go to Ibru warehouse and Alaba Int market, they are there) shipped from the UK also have similar Freeview boxes installed in them. When such antennas are connected to such TVs, they are capable of decoding the signals. These boxes are actually called free view. But as for strong and other FTA receivers, you need to connect your dish antenna to it via lnb.

butone, so u mean that the dvb has a freeview capability that strong does not. But they are both DVBs. Abi?

the software comes in two part, the loader/driver and the software itself. I suspect you are taking it raw from a computer as a download. My advise is to collect it from a strong reciever via the usb flash. or take the decoder to the computer and use the cable to down load. We are walking round the clock to get a new hack on strong.
Meanwhile note that europian recievers are thrice expensive compare to asian ones like strong. Without the asians we would not know that digital video broadcast via satellite is this cheap.

Hello nairalanders,

I tried the two lnb stuff last weekend and it was an intesting experience. it did not work from the left for me as suggested earliar on this tread but i got it on top. (pics atached) I was able to use the lower lnb to receive 22ºW and the upper lnb for 27.5ºW. I don't know what i did but when i was fidling with it I picked up HITV signal on the west intresting. i wish i can explain what happened. Dont mind the untidy job but I got good signal. would update this post to give detail of what i did.

@ ayusman

Tune your receiver/TV to etv; then press 6969 or 8280 or 8282, then come back and post results; we'll take it from there.

Hello Fadinus

Well there is something (proper connections and installation) you can do with that your Sunwin DVB-T Reciever and you will start watching satellite Stations like Show Sport 2, 3,4 Show action and the rest of Showtime channels and others too, That is what we use out here.

Remember that your DVB does not work with the CTL yogi antenna.
