this is a continuation of the coverage area map. the MAP shows three concentric circles, the inner one being the darkest while the outer one being the lightest.  The inner circle  depicts the area with the greatest signal strenght while the outer circle for the least signal strenght. If your location is within the inner circle it means better reception and more channels to get from that location from the satelite beaming the signal.

o boy,

the link you posted is not really helping matters here.
There's always a break during the downloading and that comes with errors, what do you think one can do?

Hi, like I stated earlier on, my new year gift - is a software that will solve 70% of your questions on FTA the name of the software is SATCODX WORLD OF SATELLITES II Ver. 3.12 .  The file size is 7MB hence I cannot upload it to this forum.   you can download it frm this link    http://hristoforster.clan.su/SatcoDX-II-v3.12.rar.  Install only the file name satcoDX (Setup) , Enjoy.

BODEJOHN I said install satcoDX (setup) , pls do not run the  "KEYGEN files" else you will not be able to update the database online . After installation run the update so that you will have the latest channels and satellites updates. please read the manual I have earlier given the link.

Hello Guys,

My name is Ayelgn, Am from East Africa, Ethiopia. I was browsing the net and I found this forum in OCT 07… I go through all the sixteen pages and am amazed on what you are doing.

@4QU29T
The software you directed us is I think the best; it gives all the information needed to setup any satellites… It gives a satellite and its channel(s) when you feed your location…
Also if you feed your location and dish size, it’ll give you list of positions or available signal…
It really is awesome! With the exception of updating current database. It asks for Registration code, which I couldn’t find…
After all it is helpful.

@Tushman
On one of your post you mention that you receive ait… and 12 ethiopian channels…, Please send me info on what is the sat, channels, frequency and related stuffs.

You all are doing well, Keep it up …
Have a great day!

@ 4QU29T

Not that we are on break, your software may be miracle worker because I cannot download it successfully.
Could you please forward the setup file of the SatcoDx to my e-mail address agkejaik@yahoo.com , besides, I've never unzipped any file of rar extention on my system. Which program is required to unzip it?

@ ejike3,

i just logged on to my gmail box, and to my amazement this fuckutonite guy hasnt send it across to me. I dont even know what else to do.

@ 4Qu29,

u really fumbled ooooooo, its up to a week now and i havent seen anything from your end.

@ all-experts,

after so much personal reasearch i've made on the satcoDx site, i found out that there is nothing new at all to what we all have been discussing here on this forum. We even here offer detailed information concerning the satellite stuff.

I give kudos to enigma, tushman, pitodenz, badaru1, twinstaiye and so many more. They've really contributed so much to this issue at hand, the so-called software has little or no help at all.

@ all-novice,

just go through all the posts on this thread and try and do something pratical about what you've seen and you dont really need the so-called software.

@ 4qu29,

to hell with your software, so far the experts are still here and lyngsat.com, kingofat.net e.t.c are still on then we dont really need your software, you can keep it.

Bye for now, i will keep monitoring whats going on.

Hi all

Long time no post from me. Na Hustling.

Has the 90cm users noticed the new stations added to intelsat10 (68.5ºE - Mytv position) If you have not noticed it then i think you need to scan your receiver. seems these pple just realised that not everyone can afford the luxury of space for big dish.

I am always monitoring the activity of the newly launche dsatellite that beams well on africa. Not our own NIGCOMSAT1 (I dont think that thing will ever transmit a thing until it exhaust it's lifespan). I am talking of Rascom 1 on 2.8ºE. Lets hope they will not tow the path of NIGCOMSAT1.

You guys can monitor these stuff too. I think better days are coming for free to air. Hurray

I am impressed with the technical knowledge out there, although Free to Air is not technically Free to Air but Free to See. Someone somewhere is paying to transmit these channels from satellite and it is normally the subscribers in that country that is targeted are paying for it. There is nothing for nothing in this life. Unless the rights are cleared for Nigeria it is illegal to view these channels.

I understand the problem that Nigerians are fed up with seeing DSTV showing them what they want to transmit and charging the earth form it and are also fed up with the second rate packages offered by local DTH providers, not all potential DTH viewers are EPL football fanatics.

What type of programs do you watch on your "Free to Air" that you would want to see transmitted directly to Nairaland by a local DTH platform?

Terrestrial Free to Air will come to Nigeria within 5 years, but the advertisements in the programmes will be greatly increased to pay for this. When Nigeria converts to Digital you will notice, if it is done correctly, a great difference  in the amount of channels available locally as well as the picture quality, although the content quality will also have to improve to keep you guys happy.

1. The expression "Free to Air" is widely accepted and used internationally for satellite transmissions that are not encrypted. Even manufacturers of receivers stamp FTA on receivers especially those that do not have a card or CAM slot. Yes someone is paying to transmit but they have a business plan (e.g. make money through adverts or phone-ins) or an agenda - e.g. providing news/propaganda or promoting a particular culture or other agenda.

2. It is NOT illegal to watch FTA transmissions in Nigeria no matter where the broadcast is from. As long as you have a dish that can receive the unencrypted signal and a receiver, there is no law stopping you and God forbid that we should live in a totalitarian state that bans reception of FTA TV.

3. Even the issue of reception of encrypted TV without paying, while possibly illegal in some circumstances, is really still a grey area and one that has yet to be tested on the law in Nigeria specifically.

Please see below meaning of FTA from www.tech-faq.com. Others may have different views.
Free to Air satellite (FTA satellite) is a term that describes satellite signals which a person can receive legally -- without having any subscription -- and though it is not encrypted, it is typically encoded for MPEG-2 video and may have geographical restrictions.

Yes, it has been there for about 4 weeks now.
The only issue is that it keeps going on and off.
