thanks to Enitan and Enigma for the lovely responces u have sent to me about my new satellite istallation, yeah i need a help again , please how can i get back my e.tv on pas7.10 again, because it was over-right with another channel, what so bad about it that the channel that was over-right was not even talking at all ,but it show, what can i do to get it back my etv on pas7.10. Thanks you all Heartsole, still online heartsoclean@yahoo.com,my ID hi heartsocle I used that receiver n the past but had to return it to the guy i bought it from at alaba mkt because it would not work well with MYTV card. it always require me to re-insert the card at intervals of 5 mins. it is however a good receiver for fta. to get your e.tv back, do a factory reset for the receiver and set it up again as in reset the receiver to factory settings. if you go through it's manual very well then you can add satellites and frequencies too. it works great but for the prob it had with MYTV card which they said they would rectify. are u in lagos? then u may want to see me for operational tutrial on the receiver i.e is if u are lazy in reading the operational manual. try and go through this forum from page 1 to the end u will become an expert too. @enitan can u send the same guy to me cause i need that bird W3A. the more i tried the more i get convinced I can not receive it. I have 90cm DSTV dish or should I call it 100cm? because it is bigger that the regular dstv dish all around. it is the first sset they sold in those days PM me on vickoy23@yahoo.com or text me on 08038587259

Thanks eniitan, I called the guy but he did not show up on time. I waited all day for him only for him to call later around 6pm that he was coming and that was too late for me. the bottom line sha is that i have done it myself. men was it tedious? you can bet on that. I practically spent my whole sunday up there trying to catch that bird. I finally did it. Would post a comprehensive exxperience with pics later maybe tomoro for others to learn. I have mbc1, mbc3, msnbc, stv2, and others. watch out for the post later. getting that bird is a serious business only for the patient at heart. hey guys keep the good work going. one day Nigeria will get there.

@ heartsocle, Your question reffered; 'i deleted all the channel, but now if i scan again, i can't get more dan 24 channel what could be the problem please, am on PAS 7,10 KU.how can i get back my E.tv Channel ?'
You probably scannned your decoder using only freq(s) on 12682H and or 12562H which re on the horizontal axis, for you to get more channel added to the ones you alreeady have including ETV, then you need to also scan using this frequency 12722V, the symbol rate remains the same, however if you also wish to get the MYTV channels then you change the Vertical polarization to Horizontal i.e 12722H.
Try this and lets know how far you were able to go.
Cheers!!!

@ enitan i never said i used 1.8m dish for tv malawi i used 90cm.last saturday i was at my bros house and i adjusted his dish to signal strength of 95-97% using old strong 4650 and we watched tv malawi live we watched one nigeria soap opera (everyday people) or some other name that i can't remember now but the signal later got very bad.am telling other people in this forum if u re using 90cm dish and on nss 7ku track your dish to maximum at least 95% with old strong and 97% with x-series.11672h/02790 give it a try and u ll smile. as for c-band if u get one u ll never dream of paying dstv or ayone again, only if u motorized. for those who want to get w3a @ 7 degrees always use 10976h/03333 with old strong and 11105h/03800 for x-series while tracking.cheers. @ butoneday my guy c-band no fit work for that your man area even with the lnb i brought new.but i later give him the 4 ku band position.68.5,36,7.0 and 22 degrees. @ all fox soccer come with other frequencies like bbc and others, though i was able to get bbc and xhtvl but i believe if i work hard i ll get other free channels there. N.B. hey, the bbc there is only bbc radio about 27 of them.nawaa for india people.

@ vickoy,
thats very good, and i really appreciate your effort in taking and posting those pictures. If that is your place, just go for 2.4m for Nilesat, because i can see you are already done with ku-band for now
I think we all here can now do without the help of the so-called installers.
@ all NSS7 viewers, you can all give what pitodenz said a try, but as for me with the 90-92% signal strength i have on the canalsat horizons channels, e.g france24, direct8, tv 5 e.t.c, i've not come across that TV malawi stuff, not that i don't believe. And don't forget that if i bring out my Tv and use a short coaxial cable from the lnb to the Tv so that i can be monitoring the signal, the signal will rise up to 98%, but definitely reduced to 90-92% due to attenuation i.e, loss of data along the cable. The longer the cable from your lnb to your Tv, the greater the attenuation. So those that have not tried that yet should do that, and kindly post a reply of your findings. With what i have on RDV and most which i don't understand i wont give myself another stress of adding another Language to the setup apart from its an english-based TV, instead i will rather install 68.5E, 36E along with what i presently have which is 22W.
@ all Eutelsat W3A,
Kindly follow up with the packages of those channels you have on that bird, and give us feedback here, if it's worthwhile for us to install, because as for me the best channel i can point out to there is MSNBC, so if others are ok, kindly post your experience.
@ vickoy, If i can have a flat surface(i.e the decking) where i can install my dish, i bet you i would have tracked that naugthy bird, i would have even tracked Nilesat using 90cm (joking) instead i save my myself of climbing up the ladder which is very inconvenient
The picture here is the setup of a fellow Nairalander

if you wish to solve your attenuation problem you can fix a line applifier in the middle of the cable. it's only 1000naira from oshodi if alaba is too far.

hi guys, it's been a while. i see that the present FTA craze is eutelsat w3a (and the elusive foxsoccer again). i did track the w3a channel on my own this weekend because i thought Go Africa was going to be the bomb. i managed to get through but with some disappointment. i used the lnb i was using for trend tv before they moved east ( a rather cheap lnb i must say), but i couldn't get it. so i sacrificed my nss7 lnb (cost about 1 grand) and i finally got it, but the problem is the two mbc channels which people say show premiership football are unavailable (that is the signal strength is too low) until about 10pm, by which time all football matches are over and they just hook up to bbc. go Africa is not a 24hr channel and generally my signal strength is pretty low. ( i am using a 1.8m dish faced at nilesat and i am in zaria). , and after changing the lnb for nss7 i can't get stv1,2, rdv and canal2 until after 8pm, and i don't want to sacrifice my w3a so it's a rather annoying situation. i am wondering if i still need a better lnb for the w3anor if every one is having the same problem. has anyone been able to track foxsoccer without turning the dish fully towards 55w?

You guys have been quite wonderful. Sometime ago i didn't know what Intelsat could mean noe terms like LNB, smart card etc. I read all the information here and i can now even fix my own dish and know all the terms and names as well, i started with MY TV. First,I paid an installer to set up a kind of foundation. i watched him do all the "magic' and oh boy, " i could It"! As soon as he left I had everything dismantled and reinstalled. It was very difficult at first. The secret is being patient to get the signal. I kept going up and down the larder, needing one thing or another. At a point my friends almost talked me into giving up. But the secret is in being very very slow with the turning. All that z in the past now. They even call me to come fix theirs now. All I do is check the ones around there and know where to point my dish. Presently i have two satellites, facing east and west (Intelsat and NSS 7). i have a 90cm dish for nss and get as good stations as could be there. i once got gabon TV but it no longer there. RDV, STV1&2, Direct 8, TV5, Ghana Tv and a few others i watch now. I couldn't have done it without your help(SsSSssS). Enitan. Enigma, Pitodens, victor and all of us, thanks.
@ vickoy23 as you don save the 4 k, you ll still help others.how do you compare w3a with nss 7, what do the do in the stations, what languages. i love movies. The "Mbc", is it the same arab MBC I know? The pictures will really help a lot.
@ All In checking FTA transponder, i do normally come across one written with only frequency and polarity whereas i fail to understand the symbol rate. eg NTA Plus 4060 L 5632 3/4, TVE Internacional Asia-Africa 4055 R 27500 -7/8. Can someone explain such number phrases.

@ gofitech,
thanks for that simple info about the signal amplifier, i'm already aware of that, because i don't simply need it, i think 92% signal strength is ok for me. Thanks again.
@ pitodenz, i recieved a text from a concerned Nairalander today saying he still couldnt get the TV Malawi with still about 94-96% signal strength,w what do you think could be wrong about that? By the time i'm back in Lagos i will definitely try that out myself.
@ OLA, i think what you should try to do is after attaining that signal strength try to enter manually the configuration settings i.e the frequency and symbol rate of TV Malawi manually on your decoder, because some channels no matter how your decoder is scanned you will never never see them, just like RDV on NSS7, you've got to enter the settings manually before you can see that.
@ vickoy23 & other W3A viewers,
kindly provide us more information about the total number of TV channels you are viewing free, the signal strength, and their packages like NEWs and sports especially premiership.
@ badaru1, PAPA, how body now? hope things dey go on well for ya end over there?
@ boljamoguns, How are you doing also, so how far with the amplifier stuff we talked about the last time? Has the guy come over to fix that? How are you enjoying your W3a? reply back.
Here is the picture of my setup in Lagos, which is NSS7, and am planning of adding additional two setup which most of you can all guess, 68.5E and W3A which am dead sure i will be able to achieve by middle of July, because am presently out of my base for now.
@ Enigma, Hope things are also well at your end?
@ ej500yc,
i think you should be able to get canalsat horizons office at cameroun, maybe you can be of help to the ones here in Nigeria that are interested in subscribing to canalsat with their smart cards. Cos what they are saying here is close to N50,000 for 3 months for their total package, and am dead sure it will be less over there, kindly get back to me through this forum.

All, Please read this message below.
EUTELSAT W3A SATELLITE SELECTED BY GATEWAY BROADCAST SERVICES FOR NEW AFRICAN PAY-TV PLATFORM Paris, 28 June 2007
Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris : ETL) today announced the conclusion of a fiveyear contract for capacity on its W3A satellite with Gateway Broadcast Services, which is preparing to launch an innovative new pay-TV platform for sub-Saharan Africa. Called GTV, the platform will use Ku-band capacity connected to the African beam on W3A to broadcast direct to homes via satellite in up to 48 sub-Saharan African countries. GTV will initially launch a 15 channel service which will be uplinked to one transponder on W3A from Eutelsat’s teleport in Rambouillet, near Paris. GTV’s objective is to offer a widely accessible pay-TV service providing a choice of high quality television programming at an affordable subscription price. The phased rollout of GTV began in East Africa in late June, to be followed closely by launches in Ghana, Tanzania, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia. GTV has been designed to vastly increase the numbers of pay-TV subscribers in Africa. In addition to international films, popular series, music, sport and religious programming GTV will carry locally-produced content from across the African continent. The service will address the growing popularity of European football in Africa, including live broadcast rights to 80 per cent of the UK’s Barclays’ Premier League football matches for 48 sub-Saharan African countries. Reception will be possible in every corner of GTV’s target markets with a 90cm dish, a settop decoder and any colour television. The service will be encrypted using NDS encryption. Julian McIntyre, Managing Director of Gateway Broadcasting Services, said, “Africa currently represents the least penetrated pay-TV market in the world, but there is a huge appetite for the premium news, sport and entertainment that pay-TV offers. Eutelsat’s single, high-powered footprint across the continent will help us to dramatically increase the accessibility of high quality pay-TV to millions of viewers.” Commenting the contract with Gateway Broadcast Services Olivier Milliès-Lacroix, Eutelsat’s Commercial Director, said: “We are delighted to have secured the confidence of Gateway Broadcast Services for uplinking and broadcasting GTV to homes across sub- Saharan Africa. From its 7 degrees East orbital location our W3A satellite provides premium reach to GTV’s target markets combined with high power for Direct-to-Home reception. Its selection by GTV underscores its growing contribution to the development of digital services across Africa.”

@ OLA, 'here is what you are to do in connecting the two decoders together, just note the letter t, which the shape of the t-connectoer look like.
T
the single coaxial cable coming from your diseq switch, which is going into the 1st decoder, will have to go into the connecting hole vertically that is from underneath, using the above T-shape, and you are now left with the two outer connecting hole in the horizontal position, the you will connect your two decoders to those two horizontal connecting hole, just try that and give me a feedback.
@ all NSS7 viewers, Is equinoxe Tv back yet? and what match is/did RDV showing?
@ all-in-the-house, i heard from a reliable source that GO africa on eutelsat w3a will be airing the reading match, just confirm that for me.
Based on the research i just made on lyngsat, here is the total number of free available channels viewable here in nigeria from eutelsat w3a, all this bird viewers kindly correct me if am wrong.
1, TV Malagasy
2, Ariane TV
3, GO Africa
4, MBC1
5, MBC2
6, Sky Logic on 12520H, 27500 SR
7, Open Sky on 12645H, 30000SR
8, Direct 8, which is also available on NSS7
9, 2S TV
10, MTA International
11, MSNBC Africa
12, RTS 1
13 P SAT TV
As you all know theories are found in lyngsat.com, and the practicals on our TV set, it doesnt necessarily means we can't get additional ones to that just like the issue of the TV malawi on NSS7, and one might not even get up to that number of channels, so kindly post a feedback on this forum.
Thanks.
IS equinoxe back yet?
@ Butoneday,
thanks for that info and here is what you must know thats a backdated info, GTV has already been in operation its even available on eutelsat w4 36E where hitv and dstv are.
There is nothing like things being free,if we all are clamouring for free education, free health service, free water supply, free electricity(am i ok at all?), and we breathe in free air, then why the hell should we the pay for some naugthy channels inside the free air we breathe in, or GUYS what do ya all think?
I'm looking forward to the great day when most of all the contributors on this section will meet face-to-face.

Enitan, how're you doing? The Skylogic and Open Sky referred to on W3A are probably Internet services and not TV channels.
Meanwhile, also regarding in-line amplifiers --- there is a widely held view that they often only amplify 'noise' rather than signal quality; they are worth a try but those trying them should not raise hopes too high.
@mygee33
The channels with funny details probably use circular polarity rather than linear polarity -- not that I really understand the technical details myself, to be honest.
