For those who can get Nilesat, apparently there  are new keys currently working for ART and Showtime!

@toxnaija & Enitan

Edited
It does look like both the wide beam and Middle East beam  of Nilesat might be possible on a 90 dish in Senegal;  also at the same 7w location is Atlantic Bird 4 and the wide beam of that also seems possible on a 90 in Senegal but its own Middle East beam will probably require a large dish even there. (Although there are three birds at 7w/7.2w i.e. Nilesat 101 + 102 + Atlantic Bird 4, sometimes they are all just called Nilesat for shorthand).

Actually, the official beam prediction of Nilesat by Lyngsat etc seems to be more pessimistic than the reality. It used to be advised that you need a very large dish here in the UK but we have found out that with a 100cm dish we can lock the V transponders (and even some H) in southern UK, I have even locked it but with no picture on an 80cm dish once.

@ pitodenz,
the onlyreason i was going for nilesat is MBC 2 and MBC action, because i love movies so much and series, i was thinking of getting a substitute or that on 1.8m c-band after going through the websirtes of those stations on those satellite but i found nothing that catch my intrest.

It seems i will still hang on to my W3a for the mean time and keep on praying for free2view.co.za to upload all those damned 36  channels they promised. I was even thinking of getting another dish to face 22W NSS7 but during my forthcoming stay in lagos which is july premiership must have been ended by then because thats the only thing i enjoy on NSS7 especially weekends on RDV, so i better keep on watching MSNBC, Go Africa, MBC1 & 3.

@ Gangsta,
i think i experienced the same problem, thee was a time i selected W3a from the list of satellite on my receiver which is 4653X and i scanned while the dish is still facing 22W NSS7, i got some number of stations with high signal strength but showing 'no audio/no video' and a number of NSS7 channels.
But the best thing to do is not to select the satellite name because that can be confusing sometime when tracking, it's better you input manually the frequency and symbol rate of the satellite channel you want to track, and i can assure you that problem will be solve concerning the Go Africa.

At W3a, there's a porn station there but encrypted which is PSAT TV, which is also hosted by the free2view company, because some guys have been asking me if something like that can received on 90cm here in Nigeria.

@ all,
just to chip in a little contribution, i personally think that if pictures are added to all what we've all been discussing it will really go a long way in simplifying matters here, and we should start from posting the pictures of our satellite based FTA setup, what do ya all think? then follow by all this adding 2/3 lnbs on the dish

@ enigma,
something just cropped up my mind now, do you remeber sometimes last year when i just installed SS7, do you know i usually complain of direct 8 that usually go off air especially when they are about to air the euro qualifier then? So i'm wondering if the same thing will happen on W3A being directed by free2view because its also among their bouquet presently, do u get what i'm trying to say? since its canalsat that are seizing the signal, will that also affect free2view or is free2view getting the signal from direct 8 itself and not canalsat horizons.

@ w3a viewers,
you can expect all the channels to be in just english language, because the beam the satellite w3a covers extends to all the french speaking west-african countries and east africa as well as south africa, so they have to balance it in terms of the languages so that it wont be one-sided, since they are reaching out to all those who can receive that beam be it french, portugese(angola) or english, so they have to balance it among those languages.

I hope the above explanation is clear now?

@enigma,
 can you please give me the link to where i can get the new key to Art and Showtime i will like to use showtime to view the last matches of the premeirship on sunday.
@pitodenz
since you are in PH to receive nilesat with mesh may not be possible but in the south west it is very possible am using one myself.
@toxnaija
for now nation tv is off air but abc news is still working. if you can pick your c band signal on both east and west then your alignment is okay. you can manually track your positional by going down one step down until the Nss7 ku signal comes up. di-electric doen't work for those c band on 68.5E and Metro on Intel 707 but you need it for other channels to come up. what you can do is to place another c band lnb without di-electric making three lnbs.
@all
for those with nilesat and who are lovers of football especially champions league. the right for next seasons champions league has been given to aljazeera sport and it will run for 3 seasons. Art sport will no longer transmit the matches. Aljazeera sport card is just N12,000   in lagos N10,000 in the north for one year subscription.

Trust me am always here and on the look out for more interesting stuffs , As we all know am on the W3a now and really am yet to feel the best of it, only one station is in English and its the news people. Or am i missing something , Huh
I don't understand French , another interesting thing on this W3a?? , hm mm mm,  Tongue  I think i really will dig the "adult station" if i know how to get it unscrambled.(Enitan please clarify on that).

Now time to try and help someone nail that Bird W3a, first i give you some pictures. I think it will be a good idea for you to know am doing all this in Ibadan.

My dish is elevated so that the bottom of the Lnb holder just lie on the marking of 70. see it in the Elevation picture.

Then i show you the distant from the front view, from that front view, i will be picking W4 if the dish is faceing where i stand to take the picture and the right elevation, so u get the idea of how far right u have to go at the elevation, to get W3a.    the dish u see in that picture is on W3a.
And there is another general view(Ariel). so u see how it look , you can see am getting ready to climb my ladder in search of more fun stuff, ( that was yesterday), so am telling you that no luck , trying to track Nss 703  and intelsat 7/10.  I think the buildings next to mine are blocking that signal from me , because the elevation for this 2 satellites are rather low, any advice will be cool.

And  i think it will be more fun if i can motorize my 90cm dish , some one can organize a good motor for 90cm dish , i saw a few in the range of 65 pounds online in a UK shop,  trying to see how much it will go for in the US, I know it will be heavy so i should be thinking of what delivery charges will be from DHL, it will be killing Cry Cry.

About my intrest , MOVIES(English), and NEWS, a little bit of sport will be cool,

Thank you all

@ gangstar101
              the name of satellite dosnt matter in most recievers as long as u use c band for c band and ku for ku band satellite name.go africa signal sometimes goes down and come up again.
@ all
      this small strong reciever is not bad at all srt 3650 its new it come to market sometime last year  and it should be below 5k in lagos.like in my w3a i can't get ariane tv with 4652 the signal ll be moving with red bar but when i use this reciever it open ariane without cracking.also i ve used it so many time in c band work and i can say its okay.
the only station i enjoy in w3a is go africa because of musical,msnbc is good but am not in usa,then when some of them join bbc.

N.B.the reciever is strightly fta no space for card reader.

@Enitan

I don't expect free2view to encrypt since it seems they are specialising in FTA; on the other hand they might not have rights to, or show, football matches whose transmission would normally be encrypted.

If you are living in Aba town , port Harcourt city or Lagos, you can order for different sizes of satellite dishes as stated below.
       Please, note that this satellite dishes are locally constructed in  kaduna, never the less they are equally as good as the imported ones , and they are widely used in the north.

I was supposed to have shared this a long time ago
Guess i have been lazy of late or i had more on my hands.

A nice guy on this forum suggested that we need to
open our researches and discussions to other parts
of fta like equipment and software.

I joined this forum some months back becaucse i was
searching for how to patch my skysat 901 receiver.
Although there was no response to my post then,
I have gotten the answer to my search.

I want to say that apart from branded receivers like
Dstv, Fstv etc, other receivers can be patched to
receive some scrambled channels. Eg ETV with Nagravision.

It requires 3 things namely:

Loader: This is a software that will be needed by the
computer to communicate with your receiver. This software
is receiver specific, i,e the one for strong will be different
from the one for technosat.

Computer with RS232 port: Not all computers have this port.
Look at the back of the cpu beside the monitor port, it has 9 pins.
You will also need an RS232 cable for physical connection between the
computer and the receiver.

Patched software: this is what is going to do the magic.
You can get patched softwares for any receiver if you search well.

The search for these things might not be easy but it pays in the end.
I want to also encourage fellow nairalanders to join more forums
where fta discussions are. This will give us the oppurtunity to learn
more and to discover more.

I am seeing great job done by people who post the pictures of their
W3 dishes here. I am waiting for the free2view to launch their stations
before i give it a try. At least that could be a very good excuse to put up
a fourth dish.

If you have any receiver that you want to patch, HOLLA me!!!

@ OLA,
i just visited nilesat now, and the al-jazeera package are about 6 channels, but the ones encoded are sports  plus 1, plus 2 and plus 3, so i guess those rae the 3 stations the al-jazeera card will be working on.

kindly post the numebr of channels u guys are getting free and not the encoded ones and also the number of the english-speaking ones.

@ badaru1,
i've been longing to ask the question from u if u do installation, can you kindly send me a text stating the total cost you will accept from a nairalander if you are to install 2.4/2,6m dish for nilesat, please reply fast
a fellow nairalander wants that fast and he's OLA, guess u know him.

Just pulling your legs , i think i can get you the bird, first i need to know where you are staying , so i can know how close it is to Ibadan. Then let me know if u can get the W4 (DSTV and Hi-tv bird), because that might be easy as out reference point, Then you need to build for yourself a tool, its something you make,  will give you instruction on how to do that. You need a cardboard(harder substance ok, e.g empty office file jacket). Let me prepare the information for you when i get your location first, +2348053334470

 Patching stuff are quite cool, i use STRONG decoder SRT4653, And since you know much about this and you are in Africa just like me , let me in on anyone you have personally tested and its working , might need to do this talk off this forum(don't want to break forum rules). try send me an sms 08053334470 and 'll call you.

 Hi All , Av just being able to put up my second dish and its cool , i have the second dish facing Intelsat 7/10. And now i can watch ETV, and a bit more English speaking channels. , its got a lot of christens  channels too , but me am born again,  again that makes me over qualify to watch those Grin
Not a bad setup , and my dear friend Enitan is asking me , if i have another space for a third dish , hmmmmmmm Huh Huh
Its a rented apartment , i think i have the space but i keep on the look out what W3a is going to give us in the near future.

Setting up the second dish and tracking Intelsat 7/10 took me just 15 minutes , using the W4 position as a starting point , first i adjust the elevation , it was listed as 15.00 degrees in dish position finder, on my dish i knew it was going to be on the 5 degree setting on my dish, from my past experience with W3a. Then i know the direction ( azimuth) to be lower than the one for W4 too so i know i have to move left bit by bit at my elevation of about 5 degree. then it just pop up and am there,

Thank you all , what will i do without you?Huh?
maybe i'll upload the picture if need be , ( don't want to take too much forum space for nothing , )

Please anyone got the W3a for the first time lately???, think maybe i can help out with this bird a bit, need to confirm my new trick works with someone who has not being able to get the bird at all before, so anyone need help kindly post here in the forum, its a new week and we got lots of time to get this done before weekend.

Thank you all

hi all,

first of all let me say i don't have a problem receiving w3a, just that mine was initially tracked using amos 1/2 so i was wondering if that bird was rebroadcasting the w3a feeds, that was why i tried entering the info for go Africa as it was supposed to be broadcasted by w3a alone, and initially i didn't get any indo that was why i posted my observations, now i know better, the freq were just coinciding. i actually thot i was getting amos 1/2 because it is supposed to be on 4w.

so why is it that we can receive the eastern bird w3a while facing west? also, as i said in my previous post the signals are supposed to be H signals e.g  go africa 11102 h 3208, but mine is 11102 V 3208 and if i try changing mine to H it tells me that sorry the same TP already exists.

i see art and showtime keys are now available, i will download the softcam and give. i do feel anyone who isn't getting nilesat is missing, it does have a great number of interesting channels, more than any availabel FTA sat in Nigeria, or at least  i think so, and if u do buy the aljazeera card, you're covered for even sports (except for EPL of course) but then we have RDV don'twe?

@ Gangsat101,
the problem u are having is similar to what justx24 had and we resolved that during a midnite call, and with this it will be very difficult entering the freqs and SRs of stations manually one got from lyngsat.com,  so here is what you are to do.
Get the cable coming from the lnb use in tracking the W3A satellite and go to your dish installation setup if you are using a strong decoder as if u just want to do a fresh installation and go to column where the list of your satellites are, but don't pick any of those names at all, move ahead to  those blank lists we have up to 8 blank lists there and select the first one only if its not in use but u can pick any of those blank but you must be able to identify it, whther its the 1st blank or 6th one, but u must be able to identify it at all cost, then save and move on to manual setup and input this frequency and symbol rate which is for MSNBC 12728H and Sr: 30000, with this you will see a rise in signal level and the rest is history, but don't forget to delete the stations you have through the amos 1/3 or what u call it, then do a fresh blindscan using the blank satellite freq and if Go Africa still didnt come up you can then enter the freq u have from lyngsat manually.

There was also a time when my dish was facing 22W, and i selected the W3A satellite and i got some NSS7 stations but the frequencies were uite different from the ones on NSS7. So next time one is doing a setup installation and to be on the safer side because the frequencies that followed those satellite names might be conflicting it's better you follow the step i explained above, justx24 can tesify to that also.

Have a nice day to you all

@  badaru1,
i will like to say this and i don't care what other people might be saying here, i will like to sound a note of warning that its not everyone that post his mail address u send that patch to, people can't be here working days & nights  trying to achieve something for people here on this forum only for some people to just act on it and not contribute their own qoutas also, because of this patch-thing, some people will just register and post their mail addresses so that they can have that, and once they have that they will disappear again and even go to the extent of even trading with it to get money, i will like to say that u should send it to those you are familiar with on this forum for us all to be on the safer side.
