@Word, FYI I was born, breed and mauby in the islands(not Jamaica.am further down south) However, every Island has their own dialect, which is very similar to that of the Yardies. I spent a lot of time both at UWI(Mona campus in Kingston, JA, and at Universidad de Matanzas with numerous Jamaicans) Matter of fact 90% of my friends here are all from Jamdown. Now that we've broken d ice and acting civilized,i would like to make some clarifications to wit:
when i started this thread,i never made claims to being born or raised in Jamaica.All i wanted to do was identify wt the culture, discuss my favorite reggae artiste and link up wt as many reggae fanatiks as cared to join in. I admit my patois is a little suspect which was more the reason why i needed to socialize wt other yardies and update my vocabulary!
The major element of reggae musik that fascinated me was the afrocentricity of it all.I saw myself as part of the movement and embraced its values as mine.All i wanted was some 'peace,love and niceness' but instead that brat and her delinquent ex-boyfriend tried to play hopscotch on my grave!
I must also express my disappointment at the disposition of the so-called true rasta who never gave me the benefit of doubt,but instead violated the values of rasta by discriminating against their own black bredrin! How can i be termed fake for identifying with another black man's culture,for crying out loud? Would it be sane for me to term islander a fake nigerian just because she didnt grow up here? Please,grow up! I would rather encourage her to speak my dialect and say 'oloshi!' to anyone who calls her fake.that is d true african!
And by the way,i learnt more patois from your disses than any movie would hve taught me.So anyone who still has beef can bring it on.I'll learn u like the back of my hand and then smack u wit the back of my hand!

Greetings. Let me first of all admit that I indeed did NOT read the origin of the thread before posting. For that I offer my sincerest apology, (eating my words have never given me indigestion). However, having said all that, I believe Naija and othrs who responded to your posts did so mostly out of concern for the threats you resorted to hault at them. I can vividly recall one instance where you condemned us to hell fire. Now from my knowledge of the Rastafarian movement( 2 of my brothers are indeed Dreadlocks natty dreads) hate is not synonymous with that movement. Well the true Rastafarians that I have had the priviledge of coming in contact with, were all peace-loving souls.
I said all that to say, maybe if you tone down the verbal swipes a bit, then maybe others would start taking you more seriously. Remember! There's no need for the fake after tones, just be yourself and all would be well
Finally I must say I appreciate the fact that you have taken interest to the culture, afterall Rastarianism got its roots from Africa.
