Its like comparing Fergie to Pardew.
Well i think a local coach is better because he knows the in and out of the system.
If the NFA hires local coaches in the trio of Austin,Keshi and Siasia and hands off their business as well as treat them the way they treat their foreign counterparts you would be amazed at the way the Super Eagles would be branded.
Aside Westerhof am yet to think of any foreign coach that made an impact
For me Vogts is the biggest joker.His coaching from Europe makes me sick and that alone is a Red alert for the sleepy NFA

Thank you everyone for spilling your guts here, especially TBK (thanx for the facts, they were really helpful. However the only facts needed in my perspective are the ones starting from when Vogts started his coaching career but thanx anyway) I saw reason with everyone. Perhaps truly we should wait for vogts to complete his outing. I would like to maintain a neutral ground (but deep in my mind, soul or any form of abstract entity that man posseses i still think that Yemi Tell is more technically sound.)

i believe everybody has reasons for sticking to his or her opinions. Reasons I'm on Nairaland is just to get bits and bits of information from Knowledgeable people. No one knows all.
No more diss from me. Tella is sound but i do not want to compare him with Vogts. Vogts obviously isnt the best for Nigeria fromw what ive seen so far. Working from abroad is unreasonable and shouldnt be accepted at all. But what can we do when NFA doesnt know left from right.

wait till vogts takes us to an international tournament like the world cup and then,maybe u can compare them.
moreso, this is usually the problem with nigerians,we usually fail to see the natural talents in our players.
i still insist that any body can coach a nigerian team,foreign or local
the problem will always be the administration[preparation,contract of coaches,relationship with players e.t.c]
if they really want to develop nigerian footie,then the present administration should step aside for a foreign administration.

our boys were just determined to make it in life, its for there own good, if them win or not nobody go beat Tella, They were determined to make name for there own good, dey wanted to set history which dey hav done, so u guys shuld not compare Tella with Vogts, its not that i like dt VOgts of a coach or sumtin its just that we should keep aside sentiment in matters like this, Tella/Iroha tried and succeeded good, but Tella cannot i mean canot handle d SUpa Eagles, everybody na big boys I'm no fit tlk to them d way I'm take dey tlk to dos small bois for Korea, so there is a lot different, una na kno how long them don dey train for this competition, if supa eagles get match , na 2 days 2 them go kum, because them don already make am, them no get fear 4 mind, bt d smally's them wan make name for there own gd, so dey got to b serious n determined, e 4 stil happen if to say na another coach take them go!

ebos may the good lord bless u, u seem to be the only person thats sincere here, the truth of the matter is that those lads are OLDER than they all claimed to be.this is the problem with our football.is jay jay and david becham not supposed to be age mates? as we all can see,he can't cope with the pace of modern day football?it was one of the reasons his coach-big sam sold him.how many of our young stars that won the world cup in 1993 played productive football 4 at least ten years?do u know that that protugese team that beat nigeria in a world youth tornament years ago had the likes of luis figo,manuel rui costa, cocaciao and so on?those boys latter became household names in football,but what happened to their nigerian couterparts?lets not even go far,the almighty ronaldinho was here in nigeria 99,alan smith was here, i can go on and on, our problem ranges from that of a lack continuity to over aged players,segun odegbami once made this fact known,but he was silenced by the powers that be, if our football must grow we have to get to work,correct all of this anomalies!! |

A competition of only 24 countries compared to 32 of the best playing nations in the world. Your saying that he won the Euro cup and that makes him a star. since 1996, what other achievement has he claimed to succeed in. The so called euro champions were booted out of the world cup in 1998 unceremoniously by croatia to a 3-0 scandalous defeat led by the "Super Bertis Volkswagen". Every other place he had laid his hands in coaching has been a disaster. The latest one scotland, where even a home boy ibadan chief, led a group of unknowns to beat the scottish team on their own soil. This same scottish team that he condemned to pieces, has achieved a double over former world and euro champions and last world cup finalists france and your saying he shouldn't be condemned because he won the Euro cup 11 years ago. Abeg that one na June 12. Point to any recent success this Millennium that this volkswagen has achieved that your praising to high heavens. |

A Nigerian coach can perform if given same treatment Berti Vogts gets. If the govt pays Yemi Tella half the amount Berti Vogts get and give him a free hand.
I predict we would win the world cup in 2010. He use to teach soccer at the NIS(National institute of sport). He coached many of the local coach. Let him run team B. and let his team play again Berti Vogts team. The team that wins, should go to the world cup.
