In our world today, we all know that the level of unfaithfulness has reached its peak. Most people can’t stand the problems related to marriage. And as a result of that, they cheat on their partners. I decide to start this topic so we can know the exact problem that causes it.
From my opinion, I think the woman cheats more than the man.
Here are my reasons.
1.Promiscuity: In our world today, promiscuity among women has reached its highest state; women are now liberated; women have become breadwinners of families too. They support income coming to households; unlike the days of our forefathers when women were mostly at home as housewives basically taking care of the home.
In our world today, its not so. This could definitely be a reason; since her work place throws up the chance of the women meeting a member of the opposite sex and she could be attracted to; and one thing could lead to the other.
2. Sexual Urge: I was reading a Newspaper one day when I came across an article which was about a man accusing his wife unfaithfulness. He asked the court to dissolve his marriage.
When the wife was asked to defend herself, she simply told the whole court that the size of her husbands privates doesn’t give her the maximum satisfaction she needs.
Women today are becoming more and more sexually liberated; but most men seem to be hooked on the outdated and traditional views about sex. They feel sex should be meant for the production of children and not for pleasure.
There are some men who don’t touch their wives; the only time the touch her is when they need children. This could make the woman look elsewhere for sex.
3. Economic Reasons / Emotional Problems:
a) Economic Reasons: In Nigeria today, economic situation is now a major reason why a lot of wives cheat on their husbands. With a lot of men loosing their jobs, lots of women are forced to get into the labour market to help out financially. Most of them earn very little from the strenuous jobs they engage themselves into that they have no choice than to start going after men for cash.
b) Emotional Problems: Some wives cheat on their husbands due to emotional problems; they feel their husbands doesn’t love them any more because he beats them and comes back from work late in the night. So gradually as a form of revenge, they start cheating.
I’d like other suggestions; if you feel it’s the other way round, then give us your reasons.

I agree with you, women cheat more in marriages than men, but could you please explain the first reason you gave properly because from what I read you seem to be suggesting that women shouldn't be allowed to work nowadays because they might cheat on their husbands?

You’re looking at it from a wrong perspective. What am saying is that there are some jobs in Nigeria today that before any woman can get; she has to succumb to the desire of her boss (I.e. go to bed with him) most women like I said earlier can’t stand the pressure because they feel its might be their only opportunity to get their dream job.
So out of desperation, they give in. So whichever way you look at it, women are prone to all sorts of sexual assaults which may result in them cheating on their husbands.

You're right, women these days are vulnerable and they can't withstand pressure. Now tell me; if u have a wife, would you let her work? Or would you cage her at home simply because you think she might cheat on you?

I know women are vulnerable but not all of them are. If I get married today, I can’t tell my wife to stay at home simply because I think she might cheat on me if she gets a job.
That would be stupidity of the greatest size. There are more tangible reasons for me to make her stay at home than that.

Children that’s my reason. I see no reason why one who becomes wealthy in the future should allow his wife to work when there are kids at home who need attention.
Children like we both know, learn very fast and if there is no one around who can discipline them, they might end up being something else.
How would you feel if your children turn out to be criminals and prostitutes in future, and you the parents have all the money in the would? Believe me that money won’t be worth spending because the kind of shame and disgrace they would bring on you – you might end up dying before your time comes.

You wannna know the most sexually active peeps? I'll list 'em for you. Secondary school leavers yet to pass JAMB so sitting at home. Unemployed peeps doin nothing at home. NYSC folks who go to teach like twice in a whole week (averaging 'bout 6hrs/week) n' then have nothing else to do. And may I add jobless housewives (social constraints/fear of repercussions go a long way in slowing 'em down though) In summary, idle folks. |

Men cheat more--because society condones that and turn around and castigate women who do. For a man it is a "dog" thing and for a woman---it is a counter reaction out of frustration or perceived neglect. So if you treat your partner right you are more likely to command fidelity----if you don't----he he he he he he  -----the options are endless!!!! A man can have many children outside matrimony or monogamy--while it is less common for woman to have children outside a union. |

You should know that all those requests you stated are being approved by the woman.
If a boss asks his female staff out; it's left for her to agree or not. So if she eventually does, then it show's how easy and vulnerable she is.

And what the heck are you yappin about? A woman only approves after a man initiates----as a means to an end not an end in itself!!!! I for one can not refuse a "needy" man under the "good samaritan patriotic act"  The Lord as you know loves a "cheerful" giver!!!! Just ask and it shall be given unto you---for the right price or ultimate satisfaction!!! Such are the laws that operate in the lives of men and women!!!! |

The movie focusses on men being cheaters and women being the sufferers. The audience, largely comprising of young girls and guys, had a clearly demarcated response - the girls seemed to enjoy the film totally being in agreement with the fact that guys are eternal womanisers. The guys seemed to find this film too gender-biased. True, because there can be no definite answer to the question: "Do men cheat more than women?"
Counselling psychologist Priyanka Shah's professional reply is, "I don't think a blanket statement that men cheat more than women can be made. Cheating on one's spouse is more related to individual situations rather than gender-related ones."
