my gracious! i love this thread. i hope they are reading o  this BUZZ!! thingy puts me off and asl? i will block u right away. my profile here reads "f" n my age too so y the asl sometimes it will surprise u that what people claim to be on this forum aint what they are. after u've been polite enough to welcome them, they want your phone number what one earth do u need a strangers number for. what baffles me is they ask many questions at a time as if they were jst released from underground like my big bro (siena) said, even whn u signals "busy" their wooden goggles still cnt see. i have received a lot of insults jst because i was busy n refused to chat. na wa for them |

Maybe we should start copying and pasting any foolish yahoo chat on this thread. Who knows, somebody would learn decorum.
Personally, I have two emails. The one I posted on the forum for public consumption is for everybody. Both sane and insane. After knowing the other person well, I would give him or her the second mail. Only those I trust get it.
Though I kind of use the public email regularly lately, I at least have the opportunity to switch to other where no intruder would disturb my peace.
It had been working for me so far.

YOu Right man!!  The day i started using my YIM on Nairaland is the day i start chatting with some strange plp.  Nairaland is full over different kind of people this day's i remember as @ 2005 when nairaland was SWEET?& YOUNG Old members guess you what i mean.Then You Chat and make friends with Reasonable people but now So many irrrational people are present in Nairaland esp. this YAHOO YAHOO BOYZ.I think the way to Chat on NL is to have a Public CHAT ROOM9ja4eva once said that Seun created a Public chat-room for all NL members Something like www.chat.nairaland.com i can't really remember now. maybe i will ask Seun later. WARNING: Nairaland is full Of THE GOOD,THE BAD & THE UGLY.

I don't think chat room can solve the problem. If you have tried yahoo chatroom, you would agree. The chat room is yahoo boyz primary location for getting your email address. Nairaland style is better in a way. It at least conceal your identity and you may not even put your email on the forum.
There is no perfect way, but we must constantly devise a mean to spot the good and ignore the bad.

Anyway, i agree that sometimes it is so annoying when someone buzzes u but what i think is just hear the person out first before taking any action. u never can tell if its an old friend of urs ( childhoood pal, from sec. school) but once u see that u r not comfortable with the chat, then do what u want to do
