Hi Walcott,

This is Samantha Stevens, author of several metaphysical

For those of you who are not familiar with numerology at all
here is a brief recap:

Numerology is based on mathematical formulas that have rarely
been tinkered with over the ages. The theory is that every
name and every birthdate can be reduced down to a single number.

These numbers are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 22.

Each of these numbers is reduced down to a single digit.
This reduction of a name down by omitting vowels or consonants
to a symbol is a contemporary way of making a sigil.

In this case the sigil is usually a single digit number that
represents different  aspects of a person's character and destiny.

The only numbers that do not reduce down to a single digit
are the master numbers. Double digits indicate personalities
that are master numbers, meaning that they are the teachers
and builders in society. In fact, I am not surprised to find
myself introducing you to this course because my own  birth
name reduces down to a 22!

These numbers suggest a potential for a high degree of
achievement but if you are one, you often experience a very
difficult or stressful life path. Master numbers also have
what is called a parallel number. For instance, the number 22
reduces down to the number 4 which means that along with my
daily epiphanies come the usual practical and mundane daily
chores!

Although numerology has been practiced for centuries, in
modern times it really does have some practical applications
particularly if you are interested in some psychological
self-investigation.

It can also be used to predict high and lows in your life as
well as determine what makes you (and others) tick.

Perhaps its greatest value is in its capacity to help you
assess your personal strengths and weaknesses as well as
provide you with an intuitive snapshot of another person's
traits.

At the very least, learning numerology is an amusing parlor
game; at it's most it is a revelatory metaphysical science
that can provide you with  great insights and maybe even a
way of making a living!

well, i think numerogoly is real,
it tells the significance the numbers,
maybe  it can also be called science of numbers,

it really doesnt necesarilly have anything to do with religion,

Almost everything in the bible has a worldly imitation.

There is biblical numerology and then there is worldly numerology.

"Numerology" is not "numerology" because not all who dabble into it
are agreed on a single principle. For example, most numerologists would
come to a basic premise, that it is the theory "that every name and
every birthdate can be reduced down to a
single number" - but then
the numbers should be from 1 to 9 and there should be no double
digits
. So, Samantha Stevens leaves a gap in this principle by adding
11 and 22 (both of which can be reduced to 2 and 4 respectively) to the
theory of a single number in numerology.

Basically, the significance of numbers in the Bible point to symbolisms used
to depict divine mysteries; but nowhere are numbers used in the Bible in
the same way as is advanced by what is called numerology today. Take for
instance, the following numbers and their significance in the Bible -

1 - this is used most often to depict unity and singleness, whether it is a
case of 'plural unity' or 'singular unity'. It is a number that stands in its own
class and suggests a very strong testimony. Thus, in Judges 20:11  we
read: "So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together
as one man." And the Christian doctrine of the Trinity is an example of a
divine mystery that speaks of only one God revealed in the Father, the Son,
and the Holy Spirit.

2 - often a pointer to testimony, it suggests witness and confirmation or
agreement. A classic example in this is found in Amo 3:3 - "Can two walk
together, except they be agreed?"

3 - as the composite of 1 and 2, it indicates a stronger unity, testimony and
confirmation. As a unity, Eccl. 4:12 sheds light on this: "And if one prevail
against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly
broken."

. . . and on it goes. If anyone is interested, I could take the time to share
about other numbers in the Bible, but the interesting thing is that Biblical
"numerology" (if it applies at all) is not "numerology" as is so advanced as
the 'ancient science' of calculating one's birthday in order to determine
their destiny and/or influence. Even my Muslims friends who speak of the
mathematical miracle of the Qur'an based on the number 19 could share a
bit of what significance that number means to them; and perhaps, it would
not be surprising that Islamic numerology is not the same as other kinds
of numerology.

So, I don't agree that "numerology is numerology."

Well, my understanding is quite limited in the significance of numbers in
the Bible. But, perhaps, you could find some very interesting notes about
this on the net - and I've included a few here:

Please note that not everyone's inferences on the siginificance of any
number in the Bible is the same. Further, the significance of numbers
are not rigid - thus, a specific number may have more than just one
static significance, while in other cases, they are simply used to enumerate
quantity.

However, as time permits, I'll folow through with some personal notes
of some of the numbers in Scripture. Thanks for your comments.

Numerology is the study of numerical patterns in life.  Numbers and numerical patterns exist everyhwere, within your name, on days of the week and so on.

Even astrology is a a science, techincially speaking.

In the ancient univesities, astrology and astronomy were studied as subjects, in fact, astrology/astronomy gave rise to other scinces like chemistry, biology and so on.

The general belief in astrology is that the planets and their patterns acros the sky influence aspects of your life.  Tjis makes perfect sense as we see the effects of the Sun on life on earth (without the sun, no photosynetheis and no food; people are geerall more productive during the sunniest parts of the year), the moon's effects (during a full moon, the gravitional effects of the moon affects the tides, in fact, all bodies of water; including humans, as we are composed of 75% fluids, this is why people become more irrational during the full moon, excessive fluid on the brain).  Now if the sun and the Moon can have such effects on life, surely the other planets (most of which are much bigger than the moon) MUST also have an effect, and thus astrology was born.

So you can see astrology is not a demonic hocuc pocus mumbo-jumbo, but actaully very scientific. 

people who use astrology as a guide for their plans are only making use of the most auspicious influences for their endeavour, just the same way a farmer or fisherman would.  A farmer would not be stupid to plant his crops in the dry season and the fisherman knows the sea if sull of abundant supply of fish at certain times of the year.
