I laugh. Some armed robbers will tell you they got into the 'business' because of hard times and you then wonder how come they're still in the business when they've done enough 'business' to raise capital for a legitimate business. They will continue with the army robbery until they are sent into perpertual retirement by the bullets of law enforcement agents or a landlord who's simply had enough of the 'business' partners.

If you like build castle in the moon, built shrine in the sun, these guys are no freedom fighters, rather they are selfish and deadly armed robbers and like their counterparts in the city will only retire by the bullet. I will recommend the federal government meet their demands and then wait patiently because like armed robbers that they are, no amount of booty will satisfy them . This is where the Military will be unleashed on these armed robbers and wipe them out, thus bringing an end to the nuisance once and for all. It is not that difficult. I am really getting tired of these bandits and clueless armed robbers masquerading as 'voice of the people'.

That's my take.

@grafikdon, i fully support you on your opinion and i see reason with your write up, taking hostage for ransom is against the law and it is time the government must put their feet down and let them know that enough is enough.

all of you here just mouthing off need to cut it! you have no clue at all of the situation in the states that make up the niger delta. yes our state government get larger share of the wealth - and it just so happened that the governors and other state officials are looting as well and even going as far as financing some of these militants. their reason for lotting very simple - by right where should the richest group of people come from in our country? i beleive from the delta, right where the black gold is located; i don't think states like niger state - ibb and co can account for any of our wealth, and i don't think any of the other states that nigerian billionares in pounds hail from are in the south at all but they all got rich by stealing the proceeds from our God given land. compared to ibb, alams has no money or better yet ibb himself and people like dangote, obj, mark, e.t.c are richer than everyone in the niger delta. you guys are just here mouthing off because you don't have to deal with these issues daily, your behinds probably live in states there were built with oil money and your parents or some relative of yours is highly benefitting from the oil windfall as well. i wonder how you guys will manage as a country of your own if the country were to splitt into 4 places, i am very sure you will all want to move to the delta to survive you idiots. fyi - my village - 26 oil wells - no hospital or even a clinic, no roads, still have dirt roads - no light at all. peep that and let me know how you would feel if you hailed from my village.

the truth still remains that even if they are enriching them selfs with the ransom place on hostages is it not their birth right that the oil in question belongs to them. Let them continue one day they will have it. and i promise you it wont be like this anymore it will now be state problem which will be easy to deal with. i mean if any state government refuse to develop his state and embezzle the wealth all we have to do is born down the state house at least that one is close to us not Abuja.

Militancy should continue as all those suffering will get justice soon

somehow, this happens to be my first post, since joining nairaland about 6 months ago.
i have read several posts and articles about other topics, ranging from jobs to politics and et al, but nothing cuaght me reading for so long and even prompted me to reply, than the posts pictures and replies on this burning issue of the niger delta.

infact, i feel that those who have posted favourably in support of the action of the militants are true patriots of this region like my humble self, while those who have opposed it are just being selfish and dumb and really need a trip around the impoverished areas like we have, rather than express their shit views, mainly from their knowledge of only the cities like lagos and abuja, to mention but afew, where the wealth of these impoverished areas have helped build.

although, i feel a churn in my stomach, as i recently read of the dimension of child kidnapping which criminal elements have turned the struggle into (there by giving it a bad name, even from adherent supporters like myself) i only hope that the recent peace moves spear-headed by the federal goverment, the peace committes and all well meaning nigerians and groups will make our troops (our boys out there in the creeks) to cease fire a little bit (but cautiously though, considering the deceptive nature of the nigerian state) and let's see what their intentions truly are, towards developing our land.

if only the likes of asari, gbomo jom and GOC Governemt can have access to the internet and see my views, i urge them to keep on the struggle, as indeed we are proud of them, whilst admonishing them to set up a task force to flush out the criminal elements amongst their midst, that are presently painitng the struggle in bad light.

kudos my bros them, egbesu will continually de on guard for una as una de roll out to chase those crazy baldheads out of the land, korofo go also de clear the road for una and una go dey comot as army de cum or una go just de cum as army de go, last last un go kpuff any traitor when try to double cross the struggle.

dont obther to argue with em, just continue to support the men out there with words of wisdom
although there are some criminal elements, we go soon play dem out of existence and the real worth of the struggle go cum out.
then the oppression by the multinationals and the governemt will be clearer.

These fools are pure cultist that needs to be met with some kind of technology and affirmed action meaning that they should be tracked and killed with the combination of all law enforcements. The acts they commit is weighing the nation down, the acts of the traditional rulers in those areas is also weighing the country down, then finally the corruption of our governments with the help of traditional rulers is really unacceptable even in sudan.
Nigeria is really calling for a common value but some people will do everything in their power to see that doesn't come to light and na God go make them self destruct and the same God will put someone of discipline and good intent in power sooner than later.

the nigerdelta issue is really a very sad one. one cant really blame them for pickin up arms. i would rather support their course because rite know it is yielding results.
just recently delta state government awarded a road contract to woksons nig ltd to begin the construction of 35km of road network that would link up okenrenkoko, oporuza and other ijaw towns, this road network would certainly open up the area for immerse development.
lets not forget that this "militants" are human beings like us and are fightin 4 a just course,
believe me i know, from first hand experience on my visit to oporoza and meeting with them, they are very hospitable and kind.
i want to commend the works of chief oboko bello, and the likes for wat they are doin to develope gbaramatu kingdom

williwilly, the main cash crop in Nigeria before the cursed black gold was struck was cocoa and most of  it was grown in the West.
Yorubas are very educated people.
Shares in most Nigerian companies and Nigerian affiliated companies  like Lever brothers,,Cadbuy's,John Holt and peugeot were mostly owned by Yorubas while the rest of Nigerians were still in darkness,
So the Yoruba's have moved well ahead in knowledge and an educated man doesn't sit around waiting for handouts.

Middle belters  are also well educated and they grow most of the food we eat in Nigeria, they will survive well without the oil.
They are already used to working hard.

Igbos are known to be industrous, well educated too and an Igbo man will drop his PHD in the toilet and sell beans in Ogbete market if he has to.

These riverine folks did a lot of boi boi for oyibo people.
Changing their names to blue Jaja,Fyneface and Goodhead.
Most can't even speak their dialect, neither them nor their parents.
A large number live, work, die and are buried in PH,another man's land.
They have no true identity, that oil is their identity.

Hausas are a different story.
They think Nigeria belongs to them
and we must make way and even lower standards to accomodate them.
Invigilators at their med schools are arm twisted to pass them whether they got the marks or not.
Thank God those fake doctors stay back there in Sokoto and Kotangora not Enugu or Aba.
We're talking about a group that'll kick out a southern seasoned physician and make a common bedside nurse a  Chief medical officer of a hospital.
Refuse to "renew contract" for an Ibadan trained,Harvard pHD holder and enthrone some Kaduna poly graduate who later on comes up with some "Unimaid" degree he got in his sleep.

Most of Nigeria will survive without oil.
The west, midwest, east, including akwa Ibom  and crossriver, middle belters will survive too they are hard workers.
The opportunists will have a hard time adapting.

Only few Yorubas are harding working . you see all those shares or companies. they manipulated it . everyone in this country knows what Mr AWO did to favour his tribes men after the civil war. As for Yoruba Education, i see no dividend, nothing to write about. what good have Nigeria gain from them since after the war (perfecting Embezzlement). AWO was finance Minister and second in command during the war. You should know what happend (egunje), since he can not be that by ballot (opportunist). all is EDUCATION.
AS for Middle belters they are the same with FULANI/HAUSA. they are as lazy as the hausa. only looking to steal from Government to create thief millionaire.

As of changing or answering names. the only tribe that mostly answer funny names are the IJAWS. I think it's best known to them why they answer those names.

I beg to disagree,Yorubas are a smart bunch.
I had heard the manipulation theory from others too but I don't doubt the fact that Yorubas led other tribes in "seeing road"

Awolowo is a different story,in my books he stands as the worst man that ever lived in Nigeria.
A tribalist to the bones and he made no secret of it.
Zik was called Zik of Africa, fighting for the good of his nation and relegated his tribe to the background but Awolowo had a different agenda.
His statements during the civil war  are a testament to the kind of spirit he had.
A man who would literally take food from the mouths of dying children is as mean as they come.
The blood of many children that starved to death during the war are on his head.
The guy was heartless and I have his words to prove it.

I know people may soon descend on me about speaking ill of the dead but a wicked man dead, is just a wicked dead man.

If these guys want control of their Oil, here's the way to do it

1. Go to school. The cowardly way out is to stick to the creeks and pride themselves on outgunning small detachments of the Nigerian Armed forces when they take them by surprise. These guys should join up with the rest of Nigeria that are swotting their brains out in school.

2. Confront their state Government: Many other parts of the country that are well developed are that way because their state governments took time out ofd their chopping to actualy do something. Alams stole N50 billion and these guys welcomed him with open arms. DO any of you millitant supporters have any idea how many schools and clinics N50 billion can build? The N631 billion given to Rivers State in 7 years, what was the outcome? Couldn't that have electrified all the communities in Rivers State?

The Multinational Oil companies make a modest profit from oil exploration and Production in Nigeria and still pay gargantuan taxes to the state goovernment (billions of Naira yearly) yet they are the main targets for these 'freedom fighters' while the state government goes unscathed.

These Millitants are brigands, pure and simple. their sympathisers on Nairaland try to paint them as Modern day Robin hoods, but we know better. at least, the billions of naira yearly revenue from their crude oil bunkering, what percentage of it filters down to the common people?

let asari tell that to the masses while he cruises past them in his Hummer jeep. Rubbish!
