Abeokuta: 50-Year-old man dies during love-making

A 50-year-old-man, identified as Baba Yakubu, died in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Saturday after alleged rounds of sexual intercourse with another man’s wife, Tawakalitu Sanusi.



Police sources told our correspondent in Abeokuta on Sunday that the incident happened at a hotel in the Elega area of Abeokuta.

The woman, who has been arrested by the police, is being detained at the Adatan Police Station in the state capital.

The sources added that the deceased and the woman had been seeing each other for many years in spite of several warnings by the woman’s husband.

The man, who was the first to arrive at the hotel, called the woman on the telephone and told her to meet him at the hotel.

It was learnt that shortly after the duo entered the hotel room and the man began to gasp for breath, the woman raised the alarm.

With the assistance of some workers of the hotel, the man was said to have been rushed to a hospital in Elega. Eyewitnesses stated that the man died before they got to the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was about to escape when she was arrested by the people in the hospital and handed over to the police.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Awoyale, confirmed the incident.

He said the corpse of the man had been deposited at the mortuary for a post-mortem.

At the Adatan Police Station, where she is being detained, the suspect denied having any sexual intercourse with the man.

She said, “We have not started any sexual intercourse at all before he started behaving unusually and I rushed him to his private hospital.”

If t has been established that he died of a heart attack she has no business being in detention. If they need to interview her then they should interview her and let her go. It is simply an unlawful detention
