Could This Be Another Nigerian? [scam Baiting Help Needed ]

I got this funny email from someone claiming to be from Ivory Coast, I suspect this is another Nigerian brother trying top pull some stunts. After I got an email, from him/her claiming to have loved my profile in Opera, which had no data, I replied him/her! I wanted to trail the person, and here are the mails/replies,


The first reply: The person didnt mention name, which shows its a mass email (A rookie I suppose )

I am sorry to hear about your sad story. Dont worry, sometimes people go through hard times. But sooner or later, they overcome and everything becomes pleasure.

I live in Lagos, Nigeria. I also went through some hard times but I guess not as harsh as yours. I didnt witness a civil war or lived in a refugee. I am sorry about your story. I must ask, what do you do now? Do you go to school? If yes, what do you study? Do you have constant access to the internet? Lets start from there.

And again, I don't mean to turn you down, but I am not ready for another relationship as I am in one now. We can be friends though. If there is anyway you need my assistance, don't hesitate to let me know.

As i told you in my previous mail about my agony,How rebels enter our house and killed my mother  and my father in  cold  blood morning.Asyou have to here in this camp we are not always allowed to go out from the camp (Refugee) every day  of the weeks.but l was able to have access to computer due to the help of the Reverend Father here in the camp, In this camp,Its just like one staying in the prison and i pray by Gods grace i will come out here soon.

I don't have any relatives now whom i can go to all my relatives ran away in the middle of the war the only person i have now is Rev. Peter Solo who is the pastor of the (Christ the king church) here in the camp he has been very nice to me since i came here but i am not living with him, rather i am leaving in the women's  hostel because the camp have two hostels one for men the other for women.

The Pastors Tel number is (00221-596 -54-31) if you call and tell him that you want to speak with me he will send for me in the female hostel.As a refugee here i don't have any right or privilege to any thing be it money or whatever because it is against the law of this country.I want to go back to my studies because i only attended my first year before the tragic incident that lead to my being in this situation now took place.

Please listen to this carefully (please it's a secret,even the Rev rend don't know about it),i have my late father's statement of account and death certificate here with me which i will send to you latter,because when he was alive he deposited some amount of money in one of the leading bank in United Kingdom, which he used my name as the next of kin, because i'm so dearly to my father when he was alive, the amount is ($4.7 Million US Dollars) Four Million Seven Hundred Thousand US Dollars.

So i will like you to help me to transfer this money into your bank account and from it you can send some money to me, to get my traveling documents and air ticket to come over to meet with you after the transfer.I kept this secret to people in the camp here(even the Reverend don't know about it),because i am afraid to loose this money if many ears gets to know about it. So,in the light of above i will  like you to keep it to  yourself and don't tell it to anyone for i am afraid of loosing my life and the money if people gets to know about it. Remember i am giving you all this information due to the trust i deposed on you, after many days prayers to God.I like honest and understanding people,truthful and a man of vision,ambitious and hardworking man.

He/She even sent me a female picture, Now. I have read a little about scam baiting so I want to PIN this one, If the sender is from Nigeria, EFCC better be ready

By the way, how did you trace the email address. What if it was from a free email like Yahoo!

Thanks for the link to the tutorial! It was quite helpful. Have you considered if the sender uses a proxy server or an IP masking sofware (IP spooofing)? Then the X-Originating IP might not be helpful that much. In this case, the sender might not be a scammer, but you want his/her exact location, maybe you are doing some kind of investigation.

Does that make sense? Is there any proxy burster or an application for unmasking IP masks. Anyway, to the best of my knowledge, one can't easily use a masking-IP from your location of choice. Most software gives you a dynamic IP from anypart of the world.

You'll never believe this, i received the very same email sometimes last year, the first email and the reply was rolled into one, i wonder if anyone still falls for such 419 crap

I would like to believe you however, this sounds very much like a 419 scam. If you were really in need this saddens me deeply,  and there are many in this world that are truly in need, people that I do sincerely wish I could help in some way. And if this is a scam it angers me deeply because you are creating less trust for those that truly need help,  and if this is the case, shame on you (for you are furthering be the causes of pain and distrust around the world)!! With that I guess we ought to break off contact,  (and again, if what you are saying is legit I'm sorry but, however this is not what my discriminating wisdom suggests). ~ Bye Brent.
