 Huh
Do you mean Plan B pills, Levonorgestrel (EC)? It is not an abortion pill though. It is an emergency contraceptive that can still prevent a pregnancy after contraceptive failure, unprotected sex, or sexual assault.

More info here if that's what you are looking for:

There is no such thing as "abortion pill",at least not in naija anyway. There is a drug called Mifepristone (RU486) which is an abortifacient, but that is only used & prescribed by specialists in hospitals & under strict conditions & surveillance.

Of course,it is a different matter if your friend is actually intending to PREVENT pregnancy,in which case she can use the contraceptive pills, the "morning after" pill or the coil which are not abortifacients but rather reduce the chance of pregnancy occuring in the first place, after unprotected sex.

Blimey! We're talking about human lives, not cattle!  Shocked

Abortion's being disscussed as calmly as if the weather's the topic here.  Sad

Taking such strong medication, without proper medical checks and prescription could be tragic. People react differently to different drugs, i.e just because your friend took medication and was fine, does not mean you'll tolerate the same! Which is the reason folk are tested first to determine their tolerance, before powerful medication are prescribed.

Some people have intolerance to drugs as common as Aspirin and Quinne, with mild to severe side effects. Imagine an intolerance to drugs that are a lot stronger, it's possible to trigger a heart attack, or an epileptic fit.

I suggest u use preventive pills instead, abortion is murder oooo.

Just like the saying goes "prevention is better than cure"

You the guy may not know the implications of abortion but the woman should know better than that.

It can damage her womb or even kill her, so be wise Bro!

Your "Friend" should not kill herself, there are no abotion pills, only morning after contraceptives. These are in effective after 72 hrs of intercourse. Abortion still remains illegal in Nigeria, getting an abortion is her own risk

Abortion pill? Well, I don't think there is any thing like that yet, may I suggest that pregnancy be prevented in the first place, rather than terminating it. To start with, abortion in Nigeria today is a criminal offence, that apart, it is widely condemned by most religious beliefs, based on these facts If you know you aren't ready for baby yet, I would advise that you should stay away completely from unprotected sex.

You can suggest to your man to make use of condom, or you can engage the service of contraceptives, or better still
any available safe family planning programme.
I think this is safer than to risk your life unnecessarily. You stand a lot of risks when you abort your pregnancy,
You stand the risk of being infected with HIV I or II not only that you may be infected with siphilis, Hepetitis B etc.
I will therefore recommend that unwanted pregnancy be prevented at all cost.

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE
BEST PREVENTION?

A B S T I N E N C E

end of story

peolpe are just talking about drugs and abortion in this thread like its "akara and bread" matter

@poster
the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of different drugs varies in individual especially we africans because most of the studies you read on the net about these drugs are done with caucasians or asian and the way they react to drugs varies from our system

most of the sudies are conducted on them because they know their rights and have an organised system where peolpe "DONATE" themselves as guinea pig for drug trials

i advise you to avoid any of these abortificacents or what ever name u give. them, as u enjoy your youth don't forget that old age is coming except if u want to die young, and them the effect of these "CHEMICALS" will catch up with you

abortion??!!!  Angry Angry i dnt know why people can't just try to prevent pregnancy if they do not want the baby in the first place. . . now they think it's just easy to take a drug to wipe out the fetus. it's a shame, really it is!! the person might as well take a gun and shoot another person. . . .it's same as killing. the only difference is that abortion is legalized!!

Medically any drug that could cause abortion is contraindicated.  appart from the abortion which might be your desired effect it often leads to incomplete abortion, this is a very good culture medium for bacteria hence resulting in septic abortion, and the complications of sepsis can be irreversible if not death.
Please this is a professional advice.

Therapeutic abortion (abortion as a treatment) is however allowed in 1. case of rape  2. when the life of the woman is  threatened  3. when the fetus has very bad congenital deformities.
The procedure should be carried out by a qualified medical doctor. It usually involve D&C or more advance procedure depending on the gestational age. but NEVER with abortion pills.

Okay, for the purposes of information only and not because am pro-abortion, I would like to say that YES, there are actually pills available for inducing a miscarriage. As to availability, they are available just that they are not OTC drugs (over the counter). They are under direct government control but I believe they are available.

Secondly, I am not pro-abortion but I can't stop wondering which is a lesser crime: Inducing a miscarriage or Having a baby and dumping it in the refuse dumps scattered across cities in Nigeria?

fsb

PS: Please remember that inducing a miscarriage is illegal in Nigeria?
