Polygamy (one man - multiple wives) and polyandry (one woman - multiple husbands) are two different things.
What you are talking about is a third thing, polyamory which would cover the multiple husband and multiple wives scenario.
So, a polygamous man should not be expected to share his wife with another man, that would be a violation of his beliefs.
A polyandrous man would have no choice, as the decision would be up to the wife.

I am saying it is not fair to have more than one wife when you are not willing to make the same concesions. It's a selfish way of thinking. Most women are monogamous, and when the husband goes for the second wife he does that inspite of the first wife's resistance. Why is it ok to violate a monogamous woman's beliefs but not ok to violate those of a polygamous man?

I never said it was ok to violate a monogamous woman's beliefs. I doubt a women are so dense that they will enter a marriage where she would be one wife among many if she did not want that. If a woman was tricked into entering such a marriage, she has the option to leave. If she doesn't, then she has silently given her cooperation. So, there is no issue of fairness involved and if there is resistance, then the wife is clearly violating the basis of the marriage. |
