Browse In Your House Free Of Charge (MTN GPRS)
« on: March 13, 2006, 01:56 AM »

Hello Gees,
Let me tell you that you can now browse from your house free of charge courtesy MTN.
This is what you do,
get a PC,
your mobile phone (configured MTN gprs must be active) with bluetooth.
System bluetooth (this is available with laptops) but if you are using PC you can get one from your computer store for some #2,500-#5,000 (depending on the distance covered).

Install the system bluetooth software and connect your bluetooth.
Use it to search for the bluetooth of your set and when they connets each other you start browsing immediately.

The username for MTN is web and their password is also web
The number you dial is *99***1#

Thats all folks try it and surf the web F.O.C.
that is what I am using to post this,

yeah the connection to browse on your pc with mtn sim card is working perfectly but the problem is that not all mtn sim support that now and mtn have not figure the problem why some of their sim is not browsing, please for those of you that your sim is browsing can you give your number as i`m trying to check an experiment of which number is browsing and for those of you that can not afford bluetooth, you can use your phone cable along with it software, which is more easier to connect and the speed is 115.5kbps,

*99***1# will only work for Nokia phones.
You need to query your phone modem to know what number to use. For most Sony Ericcson phones, you use *99***2# and some *99***3#.
You need to know how to add new Network connection to your computer to set it up.
Vmobile is also doing the same thing for some time now, though most people don't know about it.

MTN is not currently charging for GPRS but you can rest assured that they will soon do so and probably without much notice.

You have been warned !!

With MTN, nothing is free. Watch out lest they zap your money later as you load credit. Maybe you buy a new line which is cheap and continue with it so you don't have much to lose.
A word is enough . . .

for u all at out there, MTN GPRS is free since it launch in 2005, it is free b`because they are still testing it and that is why some of their sim was`nt working for long but they are back now, and you can use it to browse on your computer at home, office, park and any where there is GPRS signal on your phone and it will be free till they finish working on it b`because they want the speed of 460.8 kbps to be steady b`because some when connected i do get speed of 460.8 kbps. I have experimented that when you connect to the internet using nokia 6260 with the nokia pc suit internet connection,it automatically connect it self giving you 460.8kbps for more info call 08065942445

Hi, I'm new to this forum but saw the great thing going on.

I belong to another forum "Lets TALK GSM" and sometime ago, a member tried selling the same information you posted to members.  I raised an objection and as expected got some attacks.

Since you posted this freely, I am asking your permission to post same on that forum or better still take the time to join the forum and post the same personally.

Thanking you in advance.
