10 Things All Africans Have Heard Of! And Never Want To Hear!
« on: October 01, 2007, 09:28 PM »

i got this from another site and thought it was funny and interesting.

Ten Top Things to NOT SAY! because we are sick of IT!

10. Africa is my favorite country! big No no. its even worst when its an African-American who says this.Continent, got it. Continent. can we say it again?

9. Did you see any lions and zebras? or any other animals? NO!!!!!!!!!!! first of all lions and zebras are only in certain African countries. Do you see zebras in Egypt??? Djibouti?Huh sadly i saw my first elephant at the zoo, it was actually the San Francisco Zoo that i had witnessed this, and my country is know for its elephant ( Ivory Coast). And Africa is not the jungle where animals roam free and we sleep next to the animals. This is not Tarzan or the Jungle Book ( who even wrote this?Huh i believe its safe to presume an African did not conjure this image up) . Sorry to dissapoint all those folks who watch the discovery channel/animal planet ( again who owns the discovery channel? and who is it catered to? how about you give me the camera and i will show you)

8. Do you know so and so ? or do you know my friend, she's from Ghana, or Nigeria? No. i guess i should know the millions of Africans out there. I'm a social person. Really, but i can't say i know everyone, it would be my pleasure if i did. i would love to hear, "oh, are you from Spain, really? do you know my friend who is from Italy?" I love it best when you are from one part of Africa for example, and they expect you to know someone from the opposing side of the continent. I should have figured that Angola is next to Algeria for example. And of course we have to know everyone.

7. Oh my god, you are so beautiful!!! or oh, you have great skin. I bet colors look great on you. It's like that model Alec Wek, or i have a friend who is dark like you. i wish i had skin like yours. Mine is so pasty. Thank you for commenting on my skin, i didn't know i had it or what color it was.

6. If you are really lucky, someone might want to feel it because your skin is like touching fur or someting. They may ask you if its smooth like chocolate or caramel. If they are bold, they will freely touch it. On a great day, they might ask you if your skin taste like chocolate or caramel, because humans are candy. you didn't know?

5. Was it hard living over there? I heard of the wars. It's terrible what's going on. Was it dangerous? yes, i lived in the war zone everyday, I'm so shocked to see that i am alive. you know, every African is at war right now.All of us.

6. So do you speak African? What tribal language do you speak? Do you speak Swahili? enough said on that one. I'm pretty sure I told you i spoke English or French. wait, you don't remember the whole colonization thing, and no, we don't all speak Swahili. I wasn't aware that it was the official language of Africa.

5. So did you live in huts? enough said. I know it may be hard to believe this , but I've seen skyscrapers and roads. I know , I know. Shocking!!!

4. I'm not even going to state it. We weren't starving. Some of us may be skinny, but i assure you , we were fed and there was food. Plenty. Obesity is not very appealing to some of us, but we were well fed. What did we eat? And no I wasn't cutting the throat of a goat and drinking the blood or dancing with the goat's head. Perhaps the Mayans and Incas were a bit brutal at the temples with their sacrifices to the Gods and such, i will let you know when i have a goat's head on my hands.

3. There are cars. We have shoes. There is electricity. There is pumbling Does that answer it for you.

2. There are white Africans and black Africans and all those in between. Did you expect me to be a certain skin tone?Huh too dark? too light?

1. A little info. your finest diamonds . Africa. And your gold. Africa. your cocoa beans for that nice chocolate bar you are eating. Africa. The earliest discovery of humans. Africa.oil. Africa. natural resources. Africa. Another fact. The pyramids where you wondered how they have lasted this many years without the advancements of technology. That would also be in Africa. Actually, let me be more specific, it is Egypt, with the stories of the Egyptian gods, but you might have never heard of them, you may have heard of the Roman Gods who copied the Greeks, and the Greeks well, they copied the Egyptians, but somehow that is overlooked, the Greeks like to take credit. But remember Alexander the Great, its history, yes, i never really liked dates, but i did know that the Egyptians created the first alphabet and writing, and that thing called hieroglypic, perhaps I am wrong, but I'm egocentric, I like to think that I am right. Lastly, there are more than 50 countries in Africa. Try to learn more than 5, that would be like 10% . Lets pick a letter. How about C. Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Cote D'Ivoire, Republic of Congo, That's five countries right there. you are on a good start.

Now this is some serious s**t! But I think that a lot of Africans are guilty of this too. Let alone the African Americans or Black people or coloured people or whatever, you can't be politically correct with them nowadays, always changing identities. Don't even touch the white people especially Americans because despite having the brightest minds, I think They're the dumbest on average.

Ask yourself this; how many Africans know which part of Africa Guinea is or how many countries use CFA or even that we do not have Tigers over here. I think we might be guilty of this fault, though in reverse. It's not always all good with the foreign people. There are still bums in America who aren't migrants. I mean genuine American citizens. Africa isn't the only place where there are third world countries. I find it very dismaying when an average African immediately feels inferior when around a white person or anybody who isn't African. Hell, I have a Namibian friend who is light skinned and keeps an Afro that's relaxed and guys in the hood act as though they're trying to justify why their country's f**ked up! And I'm like HE'S FROM NAMIBIA, MEN, GIMME A BREAK!!! I'm no racist but I'm proud to be black and I think we all have a duty to learn about other people's culture which I find very fascinating, really. I even research in my spare time about civilisations of old, like the Inca people and Aztecs and even current ones like the Red Indians, (I heard this term is derogatory too, more appropriate is Native American-hard work keeping track)

The topic might be funny but it addresses a real situation. What I hate even more than out-right racism is racism from within directed at one-self. Peace!

Ignorance is better than racial prejudice.  If you think your Chinese friend is dumb, just educate her.

that was a dumb question. why would your color rub on her. we ain't not marker and as for the bath thing, why wouldn't you take your bath. i hope she know that she just contradicted herself because if your color was to rub off on her, wouldn't you take a bath anyways to reduces the color smudging. (if it were true.)

they don't mean rich as in money rich but rich as in natural resources. we have gold, oil, diamonds, cocoa and other things. if government wasn't so bad and actually knew how to handle things, i think that africa would be richer than other nations.

Its funny how even the China-man thinks he/she can look down on the black man.  This is more than ignorance, this is taking the piss, for God's sake its 2007, where on Earth haven't you got a black man???  And worse still some of these China-man come from places that are far worse or similar to that of Africa in terms of backwardness, poverty, suffering and everything.  Even more annoying  Angry is the fact that the African is cleaner and more hygienic than any China-man I know.  If you eat alot of chinese takeaway, make sure you know where you're buying it from man.  The guys smell!!

There is a saying that goes 'a stupid question deserves an equally stupid answer'.  Personally, I think a stupid question deserves an intelligent answer.  You should have asked your flatmate:

Why are you talking to me with your eyes closed?  And see how she answers that!!!  Stupid girl (your chinese flat mate that is.)!!
