Served in Yola Adamawa State some few years back. When i heard of it i tot ill faint. Tried  influencing it to my choice but i was disappointed. Hence, the sojourn to Yola.

Travel either by road or by air was harrowing. I made friends, met some fulani chicks(fine girls), met some cool dawgs that we are still friends. Stayed in 80units not too far from Atiku's place, served in FUTY(university of Tech), slept with them chicks at the UNI.
Represented fully. they have some cool joints like Approfyn.
So if you are posted to Adamawa, Approfyn is the place for you. Its a bit expensive sha.

I wrote an article on the NYSC, titled '' ON THE NYSC SCHEME: OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT YAR'ADUA  sometime last year. It was published in a Nigerian Daily. I was happy to read posts on a similar topic here. I don't believe the NYSC should be scrapped, as I feel it is a veritable scheme that can aid the rapid industrialization of Nigeria. What needs to be done is that a National Commission For Youth Development should be created and the NYSC should be put under it.

I also found out on this site that corpers are now being paid 10,500 Naira. Though I advocated for 12,500 Naira to be paid in the piece, the new allowance is a step in the right direction. I still believe a group of deep thinkers headed by good entrepreneurs should be assembled by the Federal Government to proffer a way forward for the NYSC Scheme. A situation where Corpers are posted to beat drums and become Choir Masters for Churches or posted to sell phones at GSM Shops [like it happened in Akure] should not be allowed to repeat itself.

Corpers should be deployed to places where they can creatively make an impact on the Nigerian economy. Places like schools, private construction firms [Where they will be taught the basics of road construction, engineering, architecture, building construction and maintenance], Farm Plantations, Research Institutes, Technical Colleges and other Higher Institutions etc should be in the mind of NYSC officials when Corpers are about to be posted. The era of Slave camp operators should be brought to an end. And talking about slave camps, I mean those private businesses [including some schools] that request for Corpers as soon as the Three weeks orientation camp is concluded. I had a first hand experience of this phenomenon, but I would talk about what my colleague faced during his service year. He was posted to a Private secondary school in Akure where he was told to take Chemistry, Mathematics, Fine Art [ My friend had an artistic talent] and English. My Ijaw Friend worked assidiously but he was largely unpaid for his efforts. Yet the owner of the school was building a house somewhere in town. So much for the NYSC Scheme.

I would want to counter your saying that NYSC means Now Your Struggle Continues why can we African's especially Nigerians be OPTIMISTIC for once in our life?? To coin it I'D say NYSC mean Now Your Success Continues it depends on your personality and faith towards a positive end. If it's really that rough can't You try and make it an intresting episode?? Life can't be a bed of roses we really have to make things work out there for all corp members since we all come from different background, beliefs, perseption and all that.

NOW YOUR SUCCESS CONTINUES IS THE NEW ACRONYM FOR NYSC
