Hi people,
What's the big differences between symbia and java phones?
What's the merits and demerits?
How can i identify symbia from java phones?
How do they work?
Which one is more preferable to others?
So many questions yet no answer, Please nairalanders help me out , i'm dying to know more about it.

Symbian phones are more preferable to java phones because of so many reasons.
Most symbian phones has inbuilt gps (global positioning system) in them that help's u find your way and java phones don't.
Java phones can only receive .jar and .jad while symbian phones can recieve .jar, .jad & .sis .
Symbian phones have lager screens than java phones. So symbian phones are the best.

guy symbians have a wider range of apps compared to java so get one for urself!!!

K810 is java and has a large screen and I can also download flash themes on it |

Meaning all Nokia and sony ericson are all symbian.

K810i is a java phone. And most nokia phones with large screen's of resolution 240 * 320. Are symbian except from nokia 6500.

Symbian is an operating system, Java is not - all those applications you were mentioning can also be on Symbian phones - Java is just a software to build packages and not a operating system - so you cant compare Symbian with Java.

@labiyemmy you are right, but the reason why they call most series 40 phoes java j2me phones because the platform on which the firmware is being built is called j2me. That's why most of them are called java phones

I never said k810 is symbiam. The only symbiam in Sony Ericsson are P-Series, W950, W960 and M-Series |

That depends on how you use them. The operating system has nothing to do with their durability

Symbian is an operating system, Java is not - all those applications you were mentioning can also be on Symbian phones - Java is just a software to build packages and not a operating system - so you can't compare Symbian with Java.
Everybody appears to have ignored this unequalled fact. It is just like comparing Windows Vista to Microsoft Powerpoint! They are not in the same category for comparism guys. |

Yea its true i noticed that. MTN's faggy on my w910i and my pal's w880i. kind of annoying.
that guy who said symbian phones have bigger screen amazes me because i aint seen no symbian phone's screen as big as w910i's. They all just have consistent large screens unlike J2me that varies, but the big ones are really big
