Hmm! the case of assault by the so called area boys and robbers in Lagos is highly exaspirating, especially when you have once been a victim. I had an awful experience with these miscreants on two diferent occasions, the first one was at Oshodi Oke at about 8.00pm, the guy suddenly walked up to me that I should give him money to smoke so I looked at him with disgust and attempted to walk away, he suddenly got angry and pushed me back that if I try to be on the defensive, he will stab me and before I knew it they became 3 and they were all harrasing me, and out of fear I brought out 50 naira and one of them took it and they left me. now imagine if i had a gun I would av killed them 'because of 50 naira. Another one was at Bar- Beach in Victoria Island, just takn a stroll with a chic o! and some hopeless dudes walked up to me, and the next thing was that they wanted to obtain me, they wanted my phone and my wallet. now if i was armed with a pistol, I would av sent 'em to hell. but 'because i had none i had to bail my self with some money, so I wolud be left alone to be the majority i will say YES!!!

No way!

Arms are dangerous in the hands of those who "are meant" to use them, i.e the NPF! They need little provocation to shoot someone down!  Shocked

Imagine these same arms in the hands of angry, untrained-in-arms use Nigerian civilians!  Huh  Huh  Huh

Doesn't bear thinking about, you'D need ear plugs to shut out the constant gun reports.

Even though our population would be drastically reduced by 90%- from 140mil to 14mil.

At the end of the day, sanity would prevail at every quarter of our society. Political offices would be fairly contested for, police oppresion would disappear, politicians would not need special body guards etc. Their would be sanity within our transport system because all bus conductors would have been killed.

There wouldn't be any need for operation fire-for-fire or some sort because their is fire in every home.

Take a look at an African country like South Africa; the only thing missing in their constitution is death penalty - every South African is allowed by law to own a registered firearm and to use it when the need arises.

Please let's all clamour for legalization of firearm and get rid of these "rotten" politicians.

By wait a minute - who would debate and pass the bill into law? the politicans. I promise us all they would never pass the bill because they know that should they pass the bill; THEY ARe TOAST Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

take a look at their crime rate too, relative to the size and level of economic development of their country.

We keep having problems with crime because our political elite know, in some collective-instinctual way, that they need a dysfunctional police force to maintain their hold on power.

How else can you rig elections and embezzle millions of dollars in public funds, if not by having the law enforcement apparati in your pocket? How do you keep them in your pocket except by ensuring the policeman is perpetually underpaid and hungry, always looking for bribes and civilians to shake-down in order to feed and clothe his family? Even the judiciary has been openly, fearlessly suborned before our very eyes in this current political dispensation, what with the flurry of ex-parte orders solely for the purpose of shielding executive thieves from justice.
