Hello everyone. If I could just offer my opinion. Iam a black male college student. I went to high school in a upper-middle class predominantly white town. In regards to the subject of discussion, ideally race shouldn't serve as the main criteria in selecting a mate. Unfortunately, some black individuals due to a sense of self-hatred engendered in a society that's taught you how to hate yourself come to place a higher value on white women. To them, I advise you if you can to go and live in Africa for some time. It might help erase this internalized hatred you have for your race. In his racially homogenous society you might develop a greater sense of love and self-acceptance for yourself. Over there you get to see Africans represented and thriving in all roles of society. More importantly what you might consider to be a black person of status i.e educated, wealthy, hardworking will not seem like an unusual phenomenon in an environment whose racial makeup is compatible to yours. You'll realize more importanly that the black race is just like the white race. There are its good and bad elements. I know this having lived in Uganda for six years. I interacted with smart, beautiful, successful people who were well educated and hardworking. In addition I also met or heard about the kind of black person you see on television in this country for the most part. The difference is, you witness this dichotomy of personalities outside of this society. You don't attribute those shortcomings to race, just flawed personalities. Also, a black person of status may be an aberration, but he's seen in the same light Bill Gates is. My experience in a predominanly white neighborhood taught me the same thing. Although that sense of self-loathing for who I was began to affect me, it didn't fully overcome me. I witnessed whites from both sides of the personality spectrum. Industrious, hardworking and kind. Plus selfish, lazy and unpleasant. White people and white women certainly aren't better than women of our race. The same problems you cite in black women and men can also be found in white women. On a personal note, I've met and fallen in love with women from both sides. Never dated though. However, if I were to choose a mate, out of a sense of racial pride I would set aside my sense of color blindedness and go with a woman from my own race.

Those making " i prefer flats", "i prefer flabby" excuses, as we all know, in the US wealthier, educated and well off people are leaner, and excercise more often than poorer, low income people.
Trust me even poor, uneducated whites are fat. So maybe if black guys get good jobs to take care of their families, their women won't have to eat unhealthy foods everyday and grow so fat. So no, people don't get fat on purpose to control others.
 weight  (and like other problems prescribed to the black race) doesn't really corelate w/ race. rather it has to do w/ your socio-economic status.
I don't know the cause of the "white anorexia" though. Society's influence on people's morals again i guess. but it seems some black guys love it (they love anything white).

Thank you. You have picked up on something that we children of these "white/black" relationships do in fact SUFFER from greatly. The white woman who wrote in, is not dating a man, who happens to be black, she is in a war and using her partner to harm her enemy.

It is a rare child of a "black/white" relationship who has not heard many horrible comments about the black race from their 'relatives' and in particular their mother, when the guy is leaving them.

I saw Appolonia (mixed black girl who used to sing with Prince) on TV saying her white mother always referred to her father as a gorilla, ape, etc.

I became a fan of Halle Barry's white mother when she said proudly: I always raised my daughter to know that she is a Black woman and to love herself.

I am not supportive of interracial child bearing for just the reasons displayed by this potential white mother of a black child ( i do not care who you date or love).

I come from the state with the most children from such white/black couples, percentage wise. I have spent a long time almost collecting the horror stories from countless hundreds of such children.

This woman who may some day be the mother of a black woman is far more typical it seems, if you listen to mixed black children, than any of us would like to admit.

Truly, I praise God for your thinking because it makes me worry less about the children you may have with your blackman. More of you need to speak up. TO TEACH EACH OTHER RIGHT THINKING.

I tell ya, many people observe how much more militant 'light skinned' blacks are in the rise of the African Nation.

It is my belief that it comes from the fact that we are more likely to encounter idiots like this woman -- as our own mothers. And if your own mother could no overcome racism to love her very own flesh and blood.

Your just bound to have far less hope for those whites being non-racist who would never even dream of a relationship with a black person that led to children.

I have to interject here also: Racism may effect poor blacks more but the racism that effects them is more or less institutionalized, systematic, impersonal racism.

Statistically,  50 percent of all Black Americans, from the very rich to the very poor say that a racist incident happens to them at least once a month. Also the statistics show that poor black Americans are less angry about racism than black americans in the middle class.

Etc, etc. There are many articles about the various poll results that always show, poor black Americans are the least likely to see racism as a problem, when compared to middle class and rich black americans.

As you kind of misunderstood earlier in your talk of segregation: Poor blacks are the ones who live in Ghetto's and we are segregated from others. While of course we interact with black middle class and rich blacks because they are our relatives, we do not interact with as many whites as they do.

I believe this segregation from whites protects poor blacks from first of all the lying semantics and ideas i.e. we really do not read your newspapers and don't know what you think of us, this keeps us sane and happy and beautiful.

But for the middle class or rich black in between, i.e. who reads what whites really think of us and hears bill cosby and also knows us Ghettodwellers -- they of course are very angry about racism.

In otherwords, black rich and middle class recieve more personal and direct racist incidents from whites.

Black Ghetto Dwellers rarely meet a white brave enough to enter the Ghetto and call us a Nigger.

While many a middle class black surrounded by whites is confronted daily by white personal racism.

Thus they are angrier and we are happier.

It is becoming so well known that living in the Ghetto keeps black people happier -- that record number of middle class blacks have been abandoning the suburbs and moving back to the ghetto -- upsetting us ghetto dwellers by insisting that we not throw trash in their yard or sell drugs in front of their house.  LOL 

We have also had a recent record movement of blacks from the north out of the big cities to the south into black middle class neighborhoods. With the black middle class people actually stating that they were leaving their white northern suburb to live around other blacks because the north really only has either a black Ghetto or a white suburb generally as the option. The south has black suburbs, so they can get a better lifestyle and black folks, together.

We Ghettodwellers are affected less by personal racism and we are not as angry as middle class and rich blacks are.

Their money has not ended the racism in their lives, in fact it makes it worse.
