Wrote You A Song
« on: October 15, 2007, 10:48 AM »

I hope you're happy now
hope you're laughing your arse off
'because all is fair game in love and war
just wanted to let you know you won

Couldn't sleep last night till the break o' dawn
'twas your face all over my wall
still can't figure out where I did you wrong
so I got myself up 'n' I wrote you a song

Tried singing you a ballad of love
for all the beautiful things you've done
but a lie would rhyme sore in the pitch of my voice
so I pulled pen and paper and wrote you this song

Coulda talked about those funny times,
the warmth we shared every cold rainy night
yet there's nothing more vivid than the pain in my heart
had to get my real on, 'n' I penned you this sorry one

Thought I could try to put it in a rap
with an upbeat vibe 'n' a hiphop kind of slang
but a rhythm too fast wouldn't tell a story this sad
and the story of you 'n' I wouldn't fit in freestyle

Couldn't call you on the phone no more
and a letter would take a bit too long
maybe even months to get to your door
I decided it was best I wrote you a song.

UMOHFIA

If there's one thing i'm in this world ever sure of

Its that u once cared

Maybe i never hearkened to the wind when it stopped its whistles

But i know it once whistled

And it called my name.

Denex that was nice,

Its been long i came around, so whats good? Got something new.

SEYI

Like a Bird, you were meant to fly,
Slashing with freedom, through the big blue sky,
A sight of you, leave men high,
An amulet so precious to come by,

I looked, and i saw a girl called SEYI,
A kiss from her, tastes better than Cherries,
Leaving my being, uplifted and merry,
Hmmm, indeed sweeter then berries,

The number 8 is barely meant as a figure,
But indeed 8 is your figure,
Your body intoxicates like hard liquor,
God, I'm going LOKO,

Love encroaches my soul so quick,
Oh my God i'm i losing my wit,
My body is growing so weak,
Seyi, please don't leave me so quick,

Here is another one guys, just wrote it, when i read HOLA2ng version,

Hope you  would like it,

IF YOU NEVER SEE ME AGAIN

If you never see me again,
Pain fades, but our love remains,
Something i did gain,
Expressed together as we claim,

If you never see me again,
Sit back and recall does times,
Painful indeed, because we had no time,
So sour, it tastes like lime,

If you never see me again,
Remember i loved you and made you my first,
With loving heart, i took of my vest,
And together we shared our best,

If you never see me again,
Deep inside i would remember,
Like the last rain that falls in September,
YOU, my body sees as a MEMBER,

@first poster: You write good, but your "poem" was more like a song - an RnB song in fact. Have you tried song-writing?

I think the reason the section isn't exactly thriving is that almost all posts here are love poems. We need to do some more work, create better poems. Not that love poems are bad, but I'm sure you'D all agreed that that horse has almost been whipped to death.

Hi Kay9, you're right I do write songs. Just haven't recorded any yet. I've sold some, but perhaps this yeah I'll lace something tight in the studio.   You're absolutely right about overflagellating the horse in terms of posting too many poems on love.  I've written one one on racism, another on my grandmother and a couple others. I just can't remember if I've posted them all on nairaland. it's nice to see y'all. iice, it's been ages.
