good pick. Adore NIN. same to the person who picked Scar Tissue. one of the best songs ever. the ending guitar solo still drives me crazy. Smells Like Teenage Spirit was his way of imitating how teenagers speak which 95% of the time doesnt make any sense, the video is done in a high school after all. The Cortney album is Celebrity Skin. For rock albums/songs, the time they make their best music is when they are 1. angry/suicidal 2. heart break/failed relationship 3. on drugs The best lyrics come out around that time, when they are happy their music turns to crap. This is very popular for female artists. For guys, once they go to rehab and lose the drugs or drinking habit, they too become trash. compare No Doubt's "Tragic Kingdom" whose lyrics were mainly about Gwen's breakup with Tony to Rock Steady where she's all happy. From meaningful lyrics to garbage. I've also noticed that artists who start out with dreads (Brandon Boyd of Incubus and Lenny Kravitz) turn to utter shit when they decide to cut them off. It's kind of creepy. |
