What's Your Dream Car?
« on: October 17, 2007, 10:34 PM »

Are you an auto enthusiast? What's your favorite car?

A camry, a benz (the good old benz), a 4x4?

Taste vary. And sometimes, your taste is dictated by the size of your pocket.

Nevertheless, whatever the size of your pocket, you can share your excitement about your dream car whether you're an auto enthusiast or not.

Share at . . .

If only you could get what you dream!

My dream car is yet to be manufactured                            it's still under simulation Grin

Design and analysis not simulation.  simulation is the semi-final phase or the phase before the semi-final depending on how you approach the phases through lifecycle.  Smiley

I want to believe you are referring to it not being started otherwise, neglect what I said.  To simulate, it would have been manufactured then F.A.T. and then S.A.T. and vice versa till it's all right and ready for the market.

 Huh  Huh  Huh
Simulation is simply a computer modelling of systems. And it is surely done before and during the process of car manufacture. Now are you saying they don’t simulate until the car has been completely finished?
Anyway I guess that is trivial to this thread.

Designing is different from simulation.  From my point of view, I was addressing from the fact that it's still in it's blueprint stage.  Simulation is done when the blue print is done.  Since it's all based on parametric modeling and partial differentiations, it doesn't always turn out that way, though CAE verifies it.  Well, in a sense, through it's stages of design, everything is simulated (I'm sure you weren't talking of that simulation).  When the blue print is done then your model is created then field analysis tests (F.A.T.) are done.  Wherever it fails (component(s)), it's being logged and then redesigned for it's objective.

Finekid,  I apologise.  I guess you are right on a general scale.  I didn't have to be technical

Oh it’s ok Ivvie. I’m not much of a “technical person” myself, just tried to remember some of the stuff I was taught ages ago as a freshman. Process dynamics and control (I think it was), which I never got to apply anyway! Grin  Shocked
I’ve gone through some of your posts and you seem be a darling! (I suppose you are male) Wink

I'm male, indeed!  CAE is what I specialise in.  Process dynamics is another understanding for Product Lifecycle and the control I believe should be the quality control associated with the innovation process.  They have different names, regionally but it's still the same discipline.

Audi R8.

I booked a test drive in one, from my local dealership (Ipswich Audi) and it was out of this world.

I've always been an Audi man.

Sienna,

Try a Benz for a change.  When you go Benz, you don't go back.  Timid at regular R/M and a wild beast over 4000R/M.

Ivvie, I've tried Mercedes, never got on with them, my father-in-law runs a 2006 S600, and I drive it on a regular basis, and comparing it to a 2006 Audi S8, it just feels ponderous. A lot of lift-off oversteer.

I'm an Audi man to the core, and 4WD makes for great track days.

Sienna,

The S600 is not the same as a limited or tuned E Class.  You still haven't experienced the true prowess of a Mercedes.  That's a new Benz, it's not the same as the over engineered models.  Recently, Mercedes claimed they were going back to the 80's feel or dynamics to their vehicles.  Old Benzes are scarce and expensive in the States (because every one wants them) and they run forever.

An old friend's got an Audi 8 in Louisiana.  I will check it out indeed.  Test drive an E Class Smiley  It's better than the new Camry that downshifts when you depress the brake pedal (ha Smiley)

Ivvie, I understand. But all cars will ultimately have their fans, even the Camry, which I don't like at all!  Smiley

Yes, the Mercedes is an excellent bit of kit, but I've sampled both Mercs and Audi - in my line of work, I drive all sorts of cars, on a regular basis. A good friend of mine runs an AMG 55 - I haven't driven it, but he's driven an Audi S8, and he prefers the feel and ride of it.

Siena

I don't like the AMG's.  Their engines blow up especially the V8 C Classes.  The Lorinsers are precisely tuned and aren't common or made in masses as oppose to the AMG's.  The same person once owned an AMG C43 and it blew when he floored the pedal to 130mph and flipped over in 2003.

The only thing I have against the Audi is that it's too flashy for me.  I'm conservative and can't imagine myself owning one.  No doubt, I'll test drive it as soon as I am opportuned to.

With regards to the Camry, I wasn't playing.  Downshifting (sometimes twice) when the brake's applied actually happened.  The dealer claimed it sat too long and needed an ecu reflash.  I laughed when I learnt of it.
