You are sounding like someone I told some 3 days ago that he was an expert in making blind arguments and he stated I was insulting him. In the same vein, I also do not agree with Mr Watson because the reasons he pointed out to call the black race a stupid race are also obtainable  among the white folks. If U listened to him, one of the reasons he gave was based on the experiences of black employees? So Mr. Watson have never seen a sloppy white employee Well I have and I have barely been in the states for 2 years

My Mother told me that when you are insulted by someone, even though you feel to insult back, the wise thing to do is not even bother but SHOW that person instead that he is the fool. Jumping into attack mode to somehow prove your have mouth only brings you down to the person's level proving the person's point in the end.

I hope U read Mr Watson's remarks. He was not talking about a war torn sudan nor any repressive environment for that matter. He was talking about blacks in general. Mr Watson does not care about where the black dude was raised, be it in a plush environment or a war torn, poverty stricken situation. His argument is that black people (I repeat black people) are inherently less prone to a good thinking faculty. Mr. Watson believes there is a gene out there that codes for intelligence and that gene is either missing or deleted in the black man.

Indeed I read the Professor's statement which I quoted verbatim in my first response. I think you have only read him wrong. Someone made inference to the example he cited about Blacks in the workplace but that person also missed the point. That was only a consequence of what the Professor regards as the underlying cause of the intelligence gap - ENVIRONMENT.

His reference to a gene factor is not to indicate that Blacks cannot be up to par to Whites intellectually, but rather to discover what gene is affected by the environment such that it limits intelligence. That I believe is his point.

Have you ever wondered why Kenyans are doing better at long distance races than most of the rest of the world? Why are Igbos more industrious than Hausas and Yorubas? This has nothing to do with racial or ethnic superiority but on environment. We stand to gain nothing from resisting giving this a thought.

I have read Watson articles and that guy is anything but inarticulate. If he was concerned about the environment he would have made that abundantly clear. His stance is simple : The black man is incapable of thinking cause he was genetically wired not to. Remenber this guy is a geneticist

I'm in the middle of the road here. While i don't believe Whites are more intelligent than Black people, i feel in many cases that many Black africans are not nearly as smart.
Look at our educational sector for instance. How many of you that schooled in a Nigerian tertiary institution that can boast of significant research going on in there? Is it not a mark of ignorance and foolishness that our leaders have failed to understand the importance of education?
Don't you struggle to compare the smartness of our race when at the same time Japan was trading with the west for technology (1870), leading lights of the Oyo and Bini empire were trading wealth for glass beads and trinkets?

Haven't you ever called to question why the Nigerian government left ASUU to be on strike for 6 months in 2003 for a mere demand of N2 billion, yet effortlessly spend N25 billion on hosting the Commonwealth Head of Government Meeting?

Doesn't it fill you with mirth when the Yar' Adua government says it hopes to have Nuclear power plants in Nigeria by 2020, yet no plans are underway to send Nigerian undergraduates for postgraduate study in Nuclear physics?

Isn't it curious how South African infrastructure and security seems to have taken a downturn after the blacks took over? Or that an elected south african president announced that taking a bath immediately after unprotected sex would prevent AIDS?

Haven't you ever questioned the logic for Mugabe to evict all the white farmers,a nd give the lands to people who know little or nothing of farming, ensuring starvation and inflation? Didn't see that coming, eh?

I'm not making a case for Dr. Watson. In fact, unless he has conclusive proof he should never have come out to say that. and the crack about black employees was just plain wrong. But it doesn't neccessarily mean he's  racist! perhpas he's speaking of things he's experienced. Scientists will always make hypothesis. not all are true and this one probabl;y isn't.

Finally, am i the only one who feels that the people here abusing his mother and father are merely serving to prove his point?

Its only the stupid ones that will actually rise up and starting raining invectives on the guy. Every man is entitled to his own opinions. He has aired his views on the black race. It is left for you to decide whether what he said holds validity or not.

Look at what you have said, watson has the right to his opinion, so we don't have the right to our own opininon.  This forum is founded on the basis of freedom of expression on a sound moral platform. You have no justification to criticise any ones opinion as long as such opinions are not defamatory and insulting, read and cheap in your own contribution. simple. Did watson himself reason before making such statement ( what has been watson's contribution to alleviating the social problems of the black people)

Watson has given us a polite Insult and so my response is this:

-- Is he smarter than people like Bill Gates that are even contributing towards solving problems in Africa?
-- the so called intelligent ones have they finished solving their own social problems and in what way has watson contributed. Does he know in what way they have contributed to the set backs in Africa.

The poor man has just apologised on CNN, stating that his comments were misquoted. I had been shocked by his assertions because I know that potential genes for intelligence amongst humans have not been discovered, talk less of being functionally characterised. Recently, the Max Planck Institute for anthropology and primate research discovered genes controlling apects of cognition in humans and our evolutionary ancestors, the great apes. These genes were different between humans and the apes, an indication of our superiority to apes.

The human genome (complete genes) has long been fully sequenced. I do not know if it was an Oyibo or black human whose blood sample was used for the genome sequencing. Until differentially-expressed genes are analysed concurrently from Oyibos and from blacks, and the genes for intelligence functionally analysed from both races, Mr. Cricks assertion remains scientifically
